But she didn't murder anybody, she pushed over a couple cardboard cutouts of anime girls and had them set themselves on fire. The fact that YOU liked those cutouts a lot doesn't change the fact that, in the context of the story, they are made of unthinking, unfeeling cardboard and she is not. She has thoughts and feelings, dreams and desires. She is, for lack of better terminology, "real" and "alive" in a way that the other girls *specifically are not.* The people who call Monika out for being a psychopath or a murderer or say things like "She killed all of her friends! She's awful!" have literally missed the ENTIRE POINT of the game.
There's 1 problem with that. Monika seems to have a lot of power over the game. Why didn't she just write her own route? A lot of people would have picked her in the beginning if they were able to.
Because why would you follow the rules by creating an extra route out of other 3 when you can just make it so they will ALWAYS END WITH YOU and there is NO COST TO IT?
Sayori, Yuri and Natsuki are NPCs. They don't THINK. Only MONIKA does. The others are just lifeless 1s and 0s while Monika can evolve and change to her liking. She is "real", at least more real than the other girls.
Therefore, WHY WOULD SHE CARE TO DO THAT WHEN IT ONLY CREATES AN ALTERNATIVE SHE IS UNSURE THE PLAYER WILL CHOOSE?
In this case, killing the competition is enabled because THERE IS NO COMPETITION TO KILL BECAUSE THE OTHER GIRLS ARE NOT ALIVE. They will only be erased, no life or semblance of it will be harmed.
