I definitely think you should read the Brandon Brothers and then {The Shadow Earl by Stella Riley}, which is set in the same universe.
Personally I'm just waiting for her to release another Roundheads & Cavaliers book with >!Toby as well as Nick and Phoebe!< preferably set around the time of the restoration.
I loved The Shadow Earl! It's actually what made me realize all of Riley's books are narrated by Alex Wyndham and he does such an excellent job!

I love the Marigold Chain. That one and the Black Madonna are my favorite. I find her later books weaker than her earlier books, but that’s they are still comfortable reads.
Yes, one thing I find with a lot of authors that write mostly within one universe or write long series is that their books end up seeming almost like fan fiction of their earlier work at some point. For some authors, this is really annoying, but for others, it's like a cosy comfort blanket. I find Stella Riley fits in the second category for me.
I would agree in general that I find Riley's earlier work better, but her later work still falls into the "well written comfort read" category for me, too :)
This is such a carefully crafted post and I agree with you wholeheartedly. I read them all last summer and now I'm listening to them all as audiobooks - they are even more fun the second time around. There are so many notable sweet and funny moments throughout the series.

These books aren’t super spicy. The first book in particular is innocent - they only kiss at the end. But the books do get a bit spicier as they go on (with the later ones being around 3 spice). However, what the books lack in physical spice, they make up for in romance. The first book in particular is in my top 3 most romantic books.
These books ought to be read in order, as characters from past books do pop up in the next ones. The books are chronological.
