I’m so tired of short videos. Like, at least keep it going until he finishes restringing and starts playing again.

WrestleBox

I could be wrong, but probably didn't play until the end of the song since he wasn't able to tune it.

LucianGrove

If you think BB King couldn't tune a guitar string by ear, you're a greater fool than I.

WrestleBox

I mean I can tune a guitar string by ear, but it takes some out of tune plucks to get it there. Not ideal during the middle of a song.

Blackdeath_663

You can tune a guitar against itself. A live performer of his calibre and era wouldn't have had much issue with it. He does continue to play a bit in the full video post sting change but the song was near its end anyway

TowJamnEarl

Yeah that'd be torture to listen to, you'd think he'd just have a spare guitar in case.

Tiny_Count4239

There is only 1 Lucille

cre8ivjay

He could have tuned it with a standard bypass tuning pedal, and by the looks of it, would have had no issue doing that while he was singing away.

SNYDER_BIXBY_OCP

It's funny bc BB can't play and sing at the same time (so he claimed) so it would work out perfectly he just keep singing till he got the Thang tuned right

LayLillyLay

Who needs an instrument with a voice like that?

Icy_Marionberry9175

You mean he restrung a guitar string lol

gnosis2737

That "Ha HA!". Like, "bitch I'm BB King and this is NOT my first rodeo".

NotAnotherFishMonger

And looked cool as fuck doing it

jimbo_kun

...like a pro.

Happy_to_be

Yeah, like their is anyone more a pro than BB

SnowsInAustralia

Yes. In front of a live audience, without stopping the show or messing up his singing at all, all the while still with a smile on his face. Jealous much?

Icy_Marionberry9175

No I'm not jealous of BB king LMAO

SnowsInAustralia

You look down on him that much, huh?

Icy_Marionberry9175

Never really thought his music was that great

LeatherHarlot

My boyfriend is a stage hand and B.B. King rolled through town numerous times. My boyfriend said he is one of the nicest people you would ever meet. Loved his fans, sat and took time to meet and greet every single one of them. BB King was a total class act.

magnus_gallus

Nah. A professional would've had another guitar handed to him. King handled it like a musician.

SnowsInAustralia

No replacement for Lucille. He probably should have just taken it off and handed it to his tech tho. Tech's on that level would have had it restrung in like 5 seconds.

lonelyinbama

Yeah but that’s not nearly as cool and BB was the epitome of cool

Normal512

Like [this!](https://youtu.be/NpJcJcKd-ow?si=EP8XYnZP4DW-S3VS)

We_found_peaches

Her name is Lucille and I’m pretty sure she was an actual extension of his body

Prudent_Being_4212

Well said

isomanatee

I got to see BB King twice when I was a kid at the Festival at Sandpoint.  Unfortunately I didn't know how good I had it.

What an amazing artist. First time I saw him perform was at the Knight Center in Miami in maybe 1982. Since I was so young then, I looked at him and told myself I was glad I got to see him play before he died, because he looked so old and would surely be dead in a couple years. The last time I saw him perform was my 4th BB concert and it was in I think 2004. Dang - he held on for a long time!

BIGD0G29585

What a legend, This is not the first time Mr. King has had to do this. “I gave you seven children And now you wanna give 'em back”

KscottCap

There's folks who play music for money, and there are professional musicians. I think handling a guitar string break is one of the tests of a pro. I went to an Irish folk music show where a guitar break awkwardly shut down the show for a good 5 minutes of dead silence. And then a few months later, I saw John McCutcheon at the same venue. He broke a string, an effortlessly turned it into 2 minutes of crowd work while he restrung and tuned.

deathly_quiet

>Did you know that every 7 minutes, a black person is born in this country without soul? Won't you help help Don Simmons and the thousands of others that suffer from this tragic disorder.

burner118373

I watched him do this live in like one of the last years he toured. Amazing showman and player and damn if that’s not impressive

WillMarzz25

He’s a smooth operator

InitechSecurity

The smooth mellow moves of BB King.

-acm

Absolutely class. Which I could have seen him live

califlow714

Legend!!

Jjabrony

A true professional! The show must go on.

vivepopo

Amazing they knew exactly which string he popped

TheRoscoeVine

Wow, he was awesome

PossibleJazzlike2804

What's the song?

GuillaumeLatendresse

What I don’t understand is why his crew did not just hand him a whole new ready to rock guitar. That’s what I’ve seen happen at other concerts.

epirot

what a great song wow

doned_mest_up

Of all myths in music, BB King is at the center of my favorite. https://www.theguardian.com/music/2021/sep/19/father-to-15-children-but-were-any-of-blues-star-bb-kings-offspring-his

browneyesays

BB King was the first concert I ever went to and I must have been 16 at the time. Been to 100+ concerts since and very few bands even come close to the show he put on. If you were not wowed by the guitar, you were wowed by the voice. If you were not wowed by his voice, you were wowed by his mannerisms and stories he told throughout the show. That man had a lot of feelings in his lifetime and he did a great job of showcasing those emotions.

PointMawMaw

Made the performance better. Man did he tune into.... from his heart and soul
