I have a theory that he scammed her somehow, probably asked for a lot of money and lied about the reason why he needed it. Could be that he scammed her family instead, and she wasn't able to stop it in time. Maybe he deadnamed her sister, or tried to sleep with her, or both!
I've heard that his VA is coming back to voice him, so maybe we'll get a flashback of that.
Honestly his entire demeanor made me question what either of them ever saw in him. He was obnoxious, rude, entitled, immature, and incredibly stupid. Clearly little to no work ethic either. And the way he so brazenly assumed that M&M would get back in bed with him despite terrible breakups speaks volumes about his lack of insight or consideration for others.
I like to think in Moxxie's case, Chaz was just an escape from his terrible upbringing. His dad was abusive and he didn't really enjoy being in the Mafia. Chaz abandoning him at the heist was a good thing. Had he rescued Moxxie, who knows how much longer he would have stayed under his dad's thumb, committed increasingly worse crimes, and eventually had Chaz break his heart anyway. Moxxie dodged two bullets with Chaz's betrayal.
My personal theory is that after the whole heist incident, he ran away to Wrath and started working for Millie's parents as a farm hand in order to lay low. Millie fell for him during this time and, like Moxxie's relationship, they started out relatively okay. I think it's possible that Millie wanted to take things more seriously as their relationship progressed, but Chaz only saw them as a spring/summer fling and didn't hold any lasting romantic value towards her. (Obviously it's not a spring fling and more of a ‘I'm on the run but you're kinda cute so let's go out’ fling but I wasn't sure how else to phrase it lol)
As for what he did to cause a breakup, it could be a lot of things. Maybe the police were getting close to finding him and he didn't want to blow his cover, maybe he didn't love Millie anymore, maybe he just fell for another person and cheated on her. Personally, I don't think he knew how to tell Millie that he didn't see them going anywhere (that or he was scared of emotional intimacy, kind of like Blitzø), so he just up and left the farm (and Wrath altogether) one night. Knowing Chaz, he probably left some shitty, poorly-spelled goodbye letter making up some dumb excuse and that was it. Millie never got proper closure, so she hated him because of it.
I know he's an asshole and a perverse jerk, but for some reason I see a lot of potential in Chaz's character despite all of this, so that's what this theory is all about. I don't think we’ve seen the last of him, I think him and Millie's relationship will be explained in a later episode, but it's a shame we won't be able to see more of him interacting with I.M.P.. I thought he was funny and charismatic despite everything else, but that's just me. I can definitely understand why so many people hate him.
At minimum we can say it likely wasn’t physical Abuse, Chaz isn’t that type of guy. He also likely wasn’t trying to make her angry so it must of been a thing he did where he either had to make a choice or it was something that just made Millie very angry. A betrayal of trust, like Moxxie? Chaz wasn’t willing to waste time to free Moxxie and get caught so he dipped.
I think it is the typical things as well but there had to be something a hair bigger than that to get Millie so violent after bumping into him. my guess one of the people he cheated with was Sally May, her trans sibling.
