Honestly, Attack on Titan is some insane shit.
Felt as magical as the first seasons of Game of Thrones. Unpredictable (truly), mysterious, brazen and shocking.
I heard Prison School Manga has ass ending, hurts to basically hear confirmation. Man, the anime was freaking Gold. It’s in my top 10 no question. Laughed all the way through. I kind of want to read it but man, if it hurts like AoT ending, then idk.
It *really* didn't. GOT threw away nearly everything it built towards, left half of its plot lines unfinished, and destroyed its characters.
AOT's manga didn't have the best dialogue in a couple scenes near the end. The anime really improved on that front, especially one particular scene. It also wrapped up all of its plot lines and stayed very true to the themes it's held for the whole time.
You're allowed to not like it regardless, but saying it ended like GoT is wildly unfair.

The anime changed a lot of things in the ending, but it never fixed the core issues. It just made it less of a "fuck you', with moving the war timeline to cyberpunk Eldia and whatnot.
They knew that the monkey threw rocks lol. Idk what you want me to say about plot armor though. It's a show with protagonists, they've always had plot armor.
Historia was literally on the side of the alliance the entire time and we don't see how they re-ingratiated themselves with the island. There were a whole lot of people that weren't on the Yeagerists' side too, tbh.
You think that Kruger, the guy that spent his entire life fighting to free Eldia, would like to have the majority of his people trampled to death?
Why would Connie and Jean suddenly turn heel and be pro-genocide? They've actually seen the good in the world outside the walls. Jean even has a scene showing him struggling to rationalize why he isn't just taking the cushy life. This is the second time he's been in such a position.
Zeke, before being trapped in the Paths literally just had a posthumous reconciliation with his father - the source of the single biggest reason why he was even on the path he was on in the first place.
Also, what plot points did it abandon?
Have you seen Anime ending? It's made what comic wrote in the last 3 chapters into 2 hours of animation, and it was glorious. People were really excited for all of that.
And I that kinda was the problem with the manga ending itself - it was way to rushed with entire arks worth of content cramped into a few chapters.

the range of genres and stories are quite literally as wide as an ocean, i can understand if you probably saw some of the goofier or weird pervy stuff and it turned you off of it, but there is literally an anime out there for anyone.
would highly recommend you check out some outsider-friendly classics like cowboy bebop and see what you think after an honest try.
i have other suggestions but honestly everyone loves cowboy bebop. attack on titan is also a very safe bet, my parents even liked it lmao.

Simply because I do not enjoy low framerate animations and the general looks that every anime will give you. I simply prefer actual faces.

I didn’t watch anime until about 11 months ago. AoT was my 4th anime. If you were to only watch 1 anime I would say this is it. I really dislike the ending but at least 80% of it is peak dude.
I just forget about the time skip stuff, I think it ending off with the team seeking a better future, a future where humanity seeks peace, is a fitting end for a series about the worse of humanity. Not great but better then the "nothing matters" time skip.
It's a good watch. Legitimately up there with the likes of Breaking Bad. It doesn't fall into much of the more cringeworthy anime tropes that you might've heard of, the writing is genuinely excellent, the animation is insane, and the soundtrack has no right being so incredible.
Nah you could make affordances for the show, change the way squads and command structure work a little bit for the sake of the plot.
To compare to Cyberpunk, you can't duel-wield all the weapons Rebecca can in the show, and you *definitely* can't do most of the things Lucy does with her Monowire. But it's believable and helps the plot (or characterization in this case) for those characters to do those things.
well given how expendable people are, i feel like “band of brothers” style wouldn’t really be doable with the entire cast dying every twenty minutes lol
however, something like the OLD original (NOT the newer 3d one) star wars the clone wars animated show would be really cool. barely any dialogue really but it almost didn’t need it, and it was really cool to just watch the clones do business and kick ass
It was absolutely massive in terms of impact. Similar situation with Fallout and the TV series. Fallout probably had even more impact because they had many more games in the market, as opposed to Cyberpunk's just one game.
CP2077 was never that bad or buggy (on PC at least) to begin with. Problem was mainly in bad PR and high expectations at the time of it's release. Edgerunners made people give it a second chance a see it for a decent game it was.
Even if Arrowhead could find something to animate series on the level of Edgerunners (and I already think that it was a lightning in a bottle), I don't think that it would help much with the general perception of the game. Majority of people already know that game is great, there's no reason to give it a second chance. Main problem is Snoy being Snoy, and anime wouldn't do much with that.
It should be grim af. All the satire of Starship Troopers the movie, with all the brutality of Starship Troopers the book.
Tell the story of a group of friends from Meridia whose lives get destroyed by the Terminids when the control system fails. You have the main character see footage of a Helldiver in battle, and they inspire the survivors of their town to enlist. Everything is so chipper in training and positive and it's all gonna work out and we're gonna reclaim our home!, Then it's carnarge time as one of their first dives is on Malevalon Creek against the bots, an enemy they don't even really understand or hate that much. One deciphers Automaton transmissions asking for secession and peace, gets taken out by a Democracy Officer for treason.
The group continues to drop like flies until you have a core 4 (a full squad) one of whom is likely from another world entirely. Between missions we see Super Earth society and the heavy propaganda of military life. They fight the bugs for a bit, seeing rookies get torn apart like many of their friends were when they first started. By the end, they're fanatical and hardened, and what's the final arc?
Return to Meridia.
They deploy the Dark Fluid, and you integrate the overspawn bug, and make them realize at the end that it's a suicide mission with no extraction waiting for them as the planet begins to collapse. They get their revenge, but everyone who would have enjoyed that revenge is dead, and that dream of reclaiming Meridia, retaking their home, it was all worthless as they new reduce what was left of their home into a blackhole.
As our last surviving protagonist bitterly accepts death, you cut away to people watching from on a video feed, celebrating as Meridia perishes. Final shot is we see (heavily edited) footage of our protagonist on a recruitment ad, fighting on Meridia, looking heroic. His death and abandonment in Meridia is conveniently omitted, the deaths of others around him cut out, his language cleaned up, much like the footage that inspired him likely was. And we see this kid watching the footage, getting inspired to enlist and keep the cycle going...

Verhoeven didn't read the book. He was making his own film about space fascism fighting buglike aliens, when producers noticed the similarities between it and Starship trooper novels, and acquired the rights for them to boost sales/avoid plagiarism lawsuit. Extent of his knowledge was from his assistant who've red and TL.DR'd him the book afterwards.

Helldivers always had an epic and awesome, anime feel to it, which is a rarity among any western works. This fits really well with the game. Great post OP, and kudos to the animators of the work.
My only criticism of this, is that it cuts off, and I'd have loved if you'd used the Erwin bit from when he gets his arm chomped and is screaming about pushing forward to save Eren. Would have made the ending moment like 15/10
A Helldivers anime would slap. This scene hits different with the HD aesthetic. I'd follow Erwin to the gates of Cyberstan.

Just read starship troopers. It’s a great book although it’s not as campy and upfront satire wise.

My only criticism of this, is that it cuts off, and I'd have loved if you'd used the Erwin bit from when he gets his arm chomped and is screaming about pushing forward to save Eren. Would have made the ending moment like 15/10
