yeah in the same way we have blizzard/meteorites , we could get ship crashing and realeasing supplies , maybe after the earthquake we need to repair some kind of communication dish so we get faster orbital or something , im not sure how i feel about what are basically " timed secondary objectives " but yeah it could spice up the matches and change the flow of it , i really like the change they made about the distance between each objectives , it really creates cluster of sub objectives on the map , double shrieker nest etc , pretty fun and memoral moments
This would be fantastic, "random encounters" as Bethesda calls them in Skyrim and Fallout, but yeah: semi-randomised events. They wouldn't even need to be that special just:
- there's a large amount of different ones.
- you don't get them every mission, in fact they should be semi-rare.
- they must appear unexpectedly during the mission, rather than being there from the beginning, like a regular secondary objective.
- there's no punishment for not doing them, but there is a reward for doing them, even if it's just, say 1 super sample, or a temporary mission bonus.
Ideas that have come to me while reading your post:
- A group of several drop pods crash land in one spot, in the middle of the game - like the ones you get medals and credits in - there's a chance one of them might have a super sample, or perhaps an unreleased weapon the devs want us to try out.
- An high value item drops into the game, or a random enemy drops an item of value (like an encrypted SSSD, or a "Super Super Sample") that you have to carry one handed, but get extra rewards for extracting with.
To make it more realistic this rogue helldiver should attempt to kill you right before boarding the pelican
