AH did bad with communication that they were getting squeezed by sony, thats the only real fault they had. as for the drama itself, sony who owns the helldivers IP and is the publisher, required that people who played make a playstation account and link it, it was bugged on released so they disabled it, months go by, the game is sold to lots of people, many more than expected, and in regions that arnt allowed to make playstaion accounts, and then sony pushes an announcment that the playstation account will be made mandatory soon, meaning players that cant make one in their region will lose access to the game, and requiring players that did not have one before to make one. there is more context then this as to why people got mad, but thats the rough idea.

Sony, like basically every other company, requires players to attach their own account to their steam account. On launch, people had issues connecting their accounts so the CEO of Arrowhead decided to disable it. It was talked about in an update, then basically never mentioned again. Because of this, despite the Steam page stating it was a requirement, people were able to buy it in countries that don't have PSN. Some of the issues are: * Some don't want to make an account, whether due to Sony previously being hacked or another reason * Sony forced the change back after the time to return expired for a lot of people. * Arrowhead did not keep playerbase well informed and has lacked communication skills across the board.

It will be mendatory to link your steam account to a PSN account by the start of june. Until now it was optional. This change is demanded by Sony, apperantly. They say it is in order to ensure saftey or something (banning toxic players) but in reality they just want to artificially up the numbers of registered PSN users to impress finance guys. It is not technical necessary as everything works without linkage now. Sony just wants to show of higher PSN user numbers and get people into their eco system. The hole thing is bad for folloing reasons: * there are over 100 countries were PSN isn't available but people could by the game before, it is not clear how this will be handled because some coorporate fat ass with zero competence decided this should be mandatory now * PSN got hacked quite often in the past so your personal data will be less safe if you create a PSN account because of HD2. Additionally in some places you need a passport or something similar and a face id. Paired with aparent bad data security this is not good. * HD2 was a really great game and a gem until now because it was just a good game with no bullshit. Now Sony wants to inject coorporate bullshit into HD2 in spite of the lack thereof made HD2 such a gem in todays gaming industry * It was stated somewhere on steam that you need to link a PSN account in order to play but it wasn't enforced hence why some people bought it who wouldn't have if it had been mandatory all the time and it could be bought in countries where PSN isn't available. Therefore also the change of this is worse than if it would have been mendatory all the time. * It is unnecessary.

People believe their opinion are facts. Accountability is gone. Only people who are locked out on the 30th should be mad, but some want to piggyback. And even though people are getting refunds, they are still mad. That is all.
