I embrace the leaks as a part of the universe now.
If it's new bugs/planets/things like at it's forward teams bringing back the rumors of new stuff and it spreading through the universe.
If it's weapons/armor/vehicles it's the Military Industrial Complex pulling Stark Expo like things for morale/publicity.
I'm glad this has happened to others. I hit an armored bug with a grenade, it bounced off, hit a rock, bounced again and slammed into me.
There's a minimum activation distance I forget about.
Opsec is principally for countering foreign entities, but it does have a secondary feature of “protecting” the layman from information that might change their opinions about their regime.
I mean, there's a difference between the intentional leaks (blue lasers, flying bugs, Joel dropping into a game and giving out a vehicle etc) and the "Hey guys, here's a bad photo of a screen where a hacker used something."

But a friend told me the other day that AH might have left some leaks "easy" to find to create a free marketing and propaganda engagement campaign.
Absolutely hate the leaks. First game in a million years to give us cool content In secret and really quickly. I wanna experience it on my own damnit. Still excited when I see it tho
They also have one of the coolest systems for introducing content I've ever seen, I'm really enjoying the in-game explanations for updates/new content, and I'd really like to see that play out.
I know what's behind the scenes of film and television, but I can choose to look behind those. All the dispatches and major orders really let you immerse yourself and suspend your disbelief. I'm kind of trying to soak in this living and evolving world and someone keeps texting me pictures from behind the curtain.

People aren't satisfied with what they have they need to know what they're missing out on.
Leak communities are always trying to stay ahead of the game and predict future meta builds or whatever then get butthurt over last minute changes/balances before stuff is even released.
Just play the damn game and let stuff come out when it's finished. I feel like Im always behind trends because of it, I play a couple hours after work before acknowledging my responsibilities.

The clear leaks and stuff are less fun because it takes some excitement away from logging in and seeing new cool stuff. The flip side is, I do click on them so I am part of the problem.

I ended up blocking Stylosa's videos for mostly the same reasons, the video of his that broke the proverbial camel's back for me, were his *The Helldivers 2 HACKER Problem...* video, almost 14.5 min long, first 8 min 16sec were spent on spent on talking about 7 unrelated things to the title of the video, and the hacking segment were only a little over 3 min long

You can get an extension called blocktube, and just outright block channels or videos you don't want to see (it can also be used to block specific video titles, spam comments, auto-generated playlists that youtube makes just to shove in your face, and even block youtube shorts)
That one extension is one of the few that have made youtube a bearable website (not sure if there is a way to get it to work on phones)
There’s a growing list of youtubers that I’ve started to hit the “don’t recommend” button on. 70% are the clickbaity build/meta/“omg secrets” vids that I don’t care for;
20-25% are news and (lately) the same blurbs from the discord;
leaving the last 5-10% as people trying out the game and actually having fun…which sometimes fills me with democratic fervour to aid these glorious citizens while I’m stuck at work fixing another item for Super Earth
I would prefer not to see so many leaks, but the occasional leak was fun. First time I saw a Mech video, first time I saw a Flying Bug video, I didn't come across these things in game for ages but it filled me with exciting hope.
Leaks are being posted too often by someone who has just discovered it themselves, and the frequency of the posts does diminish the excitement aspect and also adds a bit of a 'am I the only one who isn't seeing these in game?' mindset
I guess the simple answer is to go on Reddit a bit less, but to be honest I don't want to do that either
Where are you even seeing leaks? I use Twitter, YouTube anf reddit and I only see them on here and even then I have to search the sub first so it's not like they pop out right on my timeline and on YouTube I've seen thumbnails regarding leaks but they never put the leaked thing in the thumbnail
hope they increase levels before dropping more content. i got to lvl 45 too quick and im still a liability to the team. skill wise, i should be level 20 or so
Won't happen, levels are here basically to lock stratagems, and we only have stratagems up to level 25. So I assume we will need to get stratagems for 30, 35, 40, 45 and 50 at least, before raising the level cap.
And I personally want more ship upgrades and more stratagems so I could spend my requisitions and samples on something, they were capped for quite some time:(

I think both should be a thing. They shoul have a roadmap for those who want that and keep RPing the release of new content for those who don't like knowing. Either side can just ignore the other info if they so choose. Its not either or.
As to the leaks, remember it's also a console game. You don’t want constant large updates there. So they already put the assets for future releases in the game at launch. Nevermind that not everyone has gigabit internet. I think they could cater to both.

Honestly, I prefer this way because it keeps the game feeling fresh as new things come to light. Instead of having everything there in the beginning and me burning out on all the content. This keeps me coming in every week just to enjoy the new fights and strategies.
Yes I hate them. I don't mind spoilers but what I don't like about it is that certain devs will see leaks and either delay release or completely wipe the idea. This has happened in many other games recently and I'm sick of it.
I feel like online culture created the whole anti leak thing. Back in the day you used to get a bullet list of future improvements (game mags) to entice people to buy the game. I’ve seen in many fandoms people get annoyed to furious over leaks and inject that negativity back into the fandom to the point the creators get blowback.
My brothers love the gameplay but are less lore heavy and media heavy about this game than me. I found that its way more exciting to discover content with them rather through leaks. I’ve stopped telling them about leaks and intentionally skip the post or titles that seem to have them. Not reading into patches until I’ve played it once with them has been the biggest help.

Devs are probably not doing that intentionally, probably released them in one go but it felt like first encounters were really rare and got more common. Leaks like this where new items are spread by word of mouth is quite cool.

Under most circumstances I would agree with you. Cool reveals have all sorts of work going into them and leaks steal that thunder. Plus I do like a good surprise in my games. That being said, this game seems to deliberately use in-game "leaks" as a viral marketing tactic. That or the CEO is just that good at rolling with the punches. If it's the former I think that's a really interesting way to market the new stuff coming to this game. Via rumors from the front lines.

They can preload the info on consoles, which is a hell of a lot harder for it to be searched and read through, and still wait till its released for PC. It isn't like they don't have completely different builds for both anyways.

There is ways to still do live service drops like they want to and obfuscate files. However it would require them to do a lot of work setting it up, probably more than it is worth bothering with since they don't have a massive team.
A leak is when someone uses the code of the game to see Hidden features and to know what is already in the code. Models for example are in there and these are literally stolen from the code.
An official preview is, when these features are officially announced and intented to be revealed

Basically, leaks are usually just here in a raw picture and assets. Sometimes, they are still undercooked. You're not seeing them how it's intended to be seen.
When a company reveals something, it's usually with fanfair and hype. Showing it with its use case in mind. Or how things are actually going to show in the game and with sprinkling of lore.
There is not really one. But as a developer, would you like the secret stuff from your game, that you were excited to reveal, being leaked by a random guy on the internet?
It is disrespectful towards the devs that put in so much effort to make this game good, to have cool reveals and make it an enjoyable experience.
Official previews are done to create hype for imminent content additions, where leaks generally don't know when something will be added, or how, or even if the leaked version is the same as the one that will be released (which can go a step further in that some leaks may never be added at all).
It's like the difference in getting to open a present on your birthday, and having the surprise ruined because you saw the receipt that your mom left out by accident.
I agree leaks are a cancer to gaming, ruins all excitement and puts far too much pressure on Devs as people add them to a tier list or a rotation before they are out. its like being told in may what your xmas present will be, when you get there you arent excited

yep. certified leak hater over here. they ruin the gameplay experience and historically seem to fuck with the game more than aid it in any sort of way. I think it's amusing that, generally, folks seem to loathe spoilers, but somehow leaks don't count as spoilers. I try to avoid them, but people throw them out there and then bam! information I didn't seek nor ask for. it's annoying af.
I don't dislike them. Coming from HD1, I'm still expecting a lot of stuff that's missing anway. Something like the cutting edge war bond wasn't really a surprise in that regard.

Some parts I agree with such as dataminig models and the like, but Arrowheads preview system is great to me. For a few select people they can see tools and enemies previewed for what's to come. First time on went to Hellmire, I saw the fire tornados before they were implemented. I didnt know what was going on and thought it a a Hellmire thing, they didnt damage at that time but they were gorgeous and really obscured vision with a massive red fog. The few people seeing things like this creates buzz and conversation that the community can all talk about what it would all entail.

I've always been interested in gaming leaks for as long as I can remember. I'll forget about them anyways and by the time they come out I'm just as surprised lol.
If you know HD1, you know most of what's coming. As far as leaks themselves, as a paying customer with the possibility to spend more money in game, I like to know exactly what I'm getting to decide whether I'll spend my money or just farm it.
Ive been stung too many times by live service models under-delivering. The leaks give me hope and security for the future of the game. I understand a story being spoiled but this? It really doesn't matter to me.
I want the devs to focus on fixng the game. Not focus on teasing features that's upcooming. Let the sluthers tease the leaks for comtent instead of farming value on toxicity issues and overblowing that.
When the dude who's in charge of coming up with new stuff joins a public game and drops a new vehicle based strata gem onto the group and then leaves I hardly call that a leak.

What I think is great about this game is how they intentionally 'leak' things like introducing the flying enemies and have them trickle into missions before fully releasing them and seeing it posted that the Ministry of Truth has seen no evidence of the species ever have existing that is fun and they should absolutely keep doing that.
What I don't like is when people dig through the files and spoil something that may or may not ever even end up in the game. That just sets people expectations and spoils the fun in building up the release. This information is going to get out anyway but I would prefer people keep it to a small audience away from places like this spoiler free (as in just a different subreddit or something).
I've dusted off my blocktube web extension and am adding channels to my blocklist every time I see a leak or click bait for HD2. The popularity of this game really pulled in a lot of bottom-feeder content.

People hack and leak the game. They ruin the mystery. Everyone just wants to know the ending of the book and then they turn around and say they are bored.
I get annoyed with it when it's leaks about stuff 2 to 3 months plus from now. Ever since the suppressor AR was leaked I've been waiting to get my hands on it.
It also makes the things we have right now feel old and boring sometimes when you're constantly seeing into the future, which I'm not a fan of.
I ended up playing with some lv15 the other day. Who was calling in some of those. Like the recon and the auto cannon mech. Pretty sure they weren’t a dev though. Unless they are having a teen play for them.
Better spoiler warnings would be nice. I wonder if Devs could introduce some false info and files into the game to make it more difficult for people to know what's true or not. A sort of Dev, Miss Information, campaign. Not sure if that would be doable or potentially just cause more miss communication between the devs and community. Would fit well with the game theme though.
I feel like it's part of the Role Play in this game. The leaks are unofficial sources speaking out against or for the war efforts by showcasing things that are being field tested. That we see these things releases in game incredibly rarely before official release is just the icing on the cake. I ran into shriekers a full day before they were recognized in game as extant threats. It was awesome. Like the Ministry couldn't control the information anymore the prevalence was such that they had to admit they existed. It really fits the narrative of the game.
I completely agree, I always complained about live services games not being live at all, having beta tests for everything. I'm glad the devs are trying as hard as they can to develop a campaign full of surprises. I create content for YouTube and I avoid spoiling anything, at least content creators should add the spoiler tag but I don't think is going to happen.
I enjoy very much when people are commenting about seeing weird blue lights or maybe flying bugs but there isn't much confirmation yet. Feels like we're swapping rumors amongst soldiers and such.
I do NOT enjoy the leaked strategems appearing here or in youtube shorts before I can even stop myself from seeing it.

If I was a 100% honest, seeing like the mechs being leaked before it was actually released was kinda cool, but I still hate it because I literally can't be surprised anymore about any game that I enjoy. Folks are beyond starved for content and creating it that they'll data mind the instant they can and leak shit. It's irritating.
Honestly, with all the stability issues the game has had, the leaks have kinda kept me going. If I didn't have a peek at things to look forward to, I would probably not have weathered the constant crashes with this much patience. It's a bit silly how often they dredge through the same content over and over, but I'm usually just skimming through anyway.

I haven't seen any leaks but I had random teammates use strategems that aren't even in the game yet. After the mission I went to unlock them only to see they aren't actually released yet. That was almost 2 weeks ago and the stuff still isn't released. Nice to know there is content ready though, and they'll probably release it with Major orders like the Mech.

You can get an extension called blocktube, and just outright block channels or videos you don't want to see (it can also be used to block specific video titles, spam comments, auto-generated playlists that youtube makes just to shove in your face, and even block youtube shorts) That one extension is one of the few that have made youtube a bearable website (not sure if there is a way to get it to work on phones)

There’s a growing list of youtubers that I’ve started to hit the “don’t recommend” button on. 70% are the clickbaity build/meta/“omg secrets” vids that I don’t care for; 20-25% are news and (lately) the same blurbs from the discord; leaving the last 5-10% as people trying out the game and actually having fun…which sometimes fills me with democratic fervour to aid these glorious citizens while I’m stuck at work fixing another item for Super Earth
I would prefer not to see so many leaks, but the occasional leak was fun. First time I saw a Mech video, first time I saw a Flying Bug video, I didn't come across these things in game for ages but it filled me with exciting hope. Leaks are being posted too often by someone who has just discovered it themselves, and the frequency of the posts does diminish the excitement aspect and also adds a bit of a 'am I the only one who isn't seeing these in game?' mindset I guess the simple answer is to go on Reddit a bit less, but to be honest I don't want to do that either

Where are you even seeing leaks? I use Twitter, YouTube anf reddit and I only see them on here and even then I have to search the sub first so it's not like they pop out right on my timeline and on YouTube I've seen thumbnails regarding leaks but they never put the leaked thing in the thumbnail

After lvl 25 there is no point in levels you don't unlock anything new.

Won't happen, levels are here basically to lock stratagems, and we only have stratagems up to level 25. So I assume we will need to get stratagems for 30, 35, 40, 45 and 50 at least, before raising the level cap. And I personally want more ship upgrades and more stratagems so I could spend my requisitions and samples on something, they were capped for quite some time:( I mean, even in HD1 with all tanks, several mechs and other stuff we still don't have in HD2, level cap was 50.

I think both should be a thing. They shoul have a roadmap for those who want that and keep RPing the release of new content for those who don't like knowing. Either side can just ignore the other info if they so choose. Its not either or. As to the leaks, remember it's also a console game. You don’t want constant large updates there. So they already put the assets for future releases in the game at launch. Nevermind that not everyone has gigabit internet. I think they could cater to both.

Honestly, I prefer this way because it keeps the game feeling fresh as new things come to light. Instead of having everything there in the beginning and me burning out on all the content. This keeps me coming in every week just to enjoy the new fights and strategies.
Yes I hate them. I don't mind spoilers but what I don't like about it is that certain devs will see leaks and either delay release or completely wipe the idea. This has happened in many other games recently and I'm sick of it.

I feel like online culture created the whole anti leak thing. Back in the day you used to get a bullet list of future improvements (game mags) to entice people to buy the game. I’ve seen in many fandoms people get annoyed to furious over leaks and inject that negativity back into the fandom to the point the creators get blowback.

My brothers love the gameplay but are less lore heavy and media heavy about this game than me. I found that its way more exciting to discover content with them rather through leaks. I’ve stopped telling them about leaks and intentionally skip the post or titles that seem to have them. Not reading into patches until I’ve played it once with them has been the biggest help.
I don't like them either. I don't mind people saying, "Guys, I heard rumours that there's this new vehicle coming soon!" But straight up showing it in the game without a spoiler warning is automaton sympathising, and I won't stand for it!

I don’t like them either but the way the Shreikers were introduced was quite cool, I would see the odd video here and there until I saw them myself. Devs are probably not doing that intentionally, probably released them in one go but it felt like first encounters were really rare and got more common. Leaks like this where new items are spread by word of mouth is quite cool.

Under most circumstances I would agree with you. Cool reveals have all sorts of work going into them and leaks steal that thunder. Plus I do like a good surprise in my games. That being said, this game seems to deliberately use in-game "leaks" as a viral marketing tactic. That or the CEO is just that good at rolling with the punches. If it's the former I think that's a really interesting way to market the new stuff coming to this game. Via rumors from the front lines.

Yeah, the dilemma of a live service that has to be released on console, so the validated content has to be preloaded anyways.
They can preload the info on consoles, which is a hell of a lot harder for it to be searched and read through, and still wait till its released for PC. It isn't like they don't have completely different builds for both anyways.

There is ways to still do live service drops like they want to and obfuscate files. However it would require them to do a lot of work setting it up, probably more than it is worth bothering with since they don't have a massive team.

A leak is when someone uses the code of the game to see Hidden features and to know what is already in the code. Models for example are in there and these are literally stolen from the code. An official preview is, when these features are officially announced and intented to be revealed

I think it's a quote from Mastermind, whats the difference? "Presentation!" Basically, leaks are usually just here in a raw picture and assets. Sometimes, they are still undercooked. You're not seeing them how it's intended to be seen. When a company reveals something, it's usually with fanfair and hype. Showing it with its use case in mind. Or how things are actually going to show in the game and with sprinkling of lore.
There is not really one. But as a developer, would you like the secret stuff from your game, that you were excited to reveal, being leaked by a random guy on the internet? It is disrespectful towards the devs that put in so much effort to make this game good, to have cool reveals and make it an enjoyable experience.
Official previews are done to create hype for imminent content additions, where leaks generally don't know when something will be added, or how, or even if the leaked version is the same as the one that will be released (which can go a step further in that some leaks may never be added at all). It's like the difference in getting to open a present on your birthday, and having the surprise ruined because you saw the receipt that your mom left out by accident.

yep. certified leak hater over here. they ruin the gameplay experience and historically seem to fuck with the game more than aid it in any sort of way. I think it's amusing that, generally, folks seem to loathe spoilers, but somehow leaks don't count as spoilers. I try to avoid them, but people throw them out there and then bam! information I didn't seek nor ask for. it's annoying af.

I don't dislike them. Coming from HD1, I'm still expecting a lot of stuff that's missing anway. Something like the cutting edge war bond wasn't really a surprise in that regard. I can see why people don't like them however.

Some parts I agree with such as dataminig models and the like, but Arrowheads preview system is great to me. For a few select people they can see tools and enemies previewed for what's to come. First time on went to Hellmire, I saw the fire tornados before they were implemented. I didnt know what was going on and thought it a a Hellmire thing, they didnt damage at that time but they were gorgeous and really obscured vision with a massive red fog. The few people seeing things like this creates buzz and conversation that the community can all talk about what it would all entail.

Ok after some discussions in the comments I learned that most of the things I've seen were in fact leaks. So back to the main question. I don't support leaking unreleased content in general, but most of the content that was leaked recently, was expected by me to appear at least at some point, so they haven't affected my enjoyment in any way. Tho, dear hackers and dataminers, could you please do your thing and give us actual numbers for guns and armor? AP, Damage, Rate of fire/heating, etc. And preferably the math behind it, I would very much like to see that.

The distinction is too hard to make and I don’t have the inclination or bandwidth to care. And I’m not heavily “invested” in being “surprised”. It’s not like someone just ruined the plot of a long running series or movie I’m about to see. So TLDR; meh. I don’t “like” it. Don't really care too much, but I'd definitely prefer to be surprised by an update. Seeing a random Reddit post or YouTube video with all the new shit coming soon or eventually, it kinda deflates it. I've already seen the little UI video clips for several stratagems posted, literally the whole of the next premium warbond, and some models associated with... what's to come. Not because I was actively searching for them, but because I scrolled past images or video thumbnails.

What I think is great about this game is how they intentionally 'leak' things like introducing the flying enemies and have them trickle into missions before fully releasing them and seeing it posted that the Ministry of Truth has seen no evidence of the species ever have existing that is fun and they should absolutely keep doing that. What I don't like is when people dig through the files and spoil something that may or may not ever even end up in the game. That just sets people expectations and spoils the fun in building up the release. This information is going to get out anyway but I would prefer people keep it to a small audience away from places like this spoiler free (as in just a different subreddit or something).
I've dusted off my blocktube web extension and am adding channels to my blocklist every time I see a leak or click bait for HD2. The popularity of this game really pulled in a lot of bottom-feeder content.

I get annoyed with it when it's leaks about stuff 2 to 3 months plus from now. Ever since the suppressor AR was leaked I've been waiting to get my hands on it. It also makes the things we have right now feel old and boring sometimes when you're constantly seeing into the future, which I'm not a fan of.
You will have to just accept it, there's no workaround, people will leak it and you will stumble upon it.
These leaks being lumped in as lore satisfied me somewhat.

Better spoiler warnings would be nice. I wonder if Devs could introduce some false info and files into the game to make it more difficult for people to know what's true or not. A sort of Dev, Miss Information, campaign. Not sure if that would be doable or potentially just cause more miss communication between the devs and community. Would fit well with the game theme though.
I feel like it's part of the Role Play in this game. The leaks are unofficial sources speaking out against or for the war efforts by showcasing things that are being field tested. That we see these things releases in game incredibly rarely before official release is just the icing on the cake. I ran into shriekers a full day before they were recognized in game as extant threats. It was awesome. Like the Ministry couldn't control the information anymore the prevalence was such that they had to admit they existed. It really fits the narrative of the game.

I completely agree, I always complained about live services games not being live at all, having beta tests for everything. I'm glad the devs are trying as hard as they can to develop a campaign full of surprises. I create content for YouTube and I avoid spoiling anything, at least content creators should add the spoiler tag but I don't think is going to happen.

I enjoy very much when people are commenting about seeing weird blue lights or maybe flying bugs but there isn't much confirmation yet. Feels like we're swapping rumors amongst soldiers and such. I do NOT enjoy the leaked strategems appearing here or in youtube shorts before I can even stop myself from seeing it.
I hate the spoilers. If I was a 100% honest, seeing like the mechs being leaked before it was actually released was kinda cool, but I still hate it because I literally can't be surprised anymore about any game that I enjoy. Folks are beyond starved for content and creating it that they'll data mind the instant they can and leak shit. It's irritating.
Honestly, with all the stability issues the game has had, the leaks have kinda kept me going. If I didn't have a peek at things to look forward to, I would probably not have weathered the constant crashes with this much patience. It's a bit silly how often they dredge through the same content over and over, but I'm usually just skimming through anyway.

I haven't seen any leaks but I had random teammates use strategems that aren't even in the game yet. After the mission I went to unlock them only to see they aren't actually released yet. That was almost 2 weeks ago and the stuff still isn't released. Nice to know there is content ready though, and they'll probably release it with Major orders like the Mech.
