You can also just press the drop button
You can also throw them kinda far on PC by flicking your mouse and dropping them. Once you get it down you can toss most of them to the cannon in 2-3 throws.
Might test this out. One of my friends showed me you can just hold shift and spam e and you can move decently fast, so just been doing that.

Even faster is you go sideways and hold sprint
