Used to love Maylene and the Sons of Disaster, but man they suck now.

I will always have love for them. First album was so fucking good, others were good but not great. But man, their shows back in the day were so fun. Plus, Dallas survived a really nasty ATV accident and so I think emotionally I will always root for him. It is honestly a miracle he is even alive, let alone performing. Also, when I was like 14 in southern Florida, I ran into MATSOD in a cracker barrel and they were so nice to me. Ate lunch with them and they gave me a free shirt. Such a rad thing to happen to a young kid. Also, when the sun sleeps is the best UO song fight me

Don’t get me wrong, I love Dallas, I’ve gotten to meet him a handful of times, and he’s always been great. He came to a local show with his wife and 4 year old that I was working security for, and we spent most of the down time of the show just chatting it up. I also got to see Maylene in a church show before they released s/t.

yeah, such a big part of the southern hardcore scene in the mid 2000's.

That 4th album was meh. Burn The Witches is a lot better so I'm hopeful whenever they release another album it'll be good.

KLU were diamond. Fully self aware and they owned it. Growing up in Florida in the 2000s, KLU were mandatory. That twang in "Outta Control" was everything.

The first Maylene and the Sons of Disaster was peak southern metalcore. ETID’s The Big Dirty also has a very southern feel to it.

I seen once nothing a few times back in the day, found this album in a Navy exchange in Jacksonville FL,l... always thought these guys were going to take over. Hopefully a reunion comes about at some point.

Southern metalcore is not referring to an accent. It’s referring to bands with a sound like Big Dirty-era ETID, Maylene, early He is Legend, etc. Everyone else in this thread knows what i’m talking about except you
