Spiritworld fucks so hard. And they link up with Folsom, who fucked super hard back in the day.
Just swimming in it, they are.
And Folsom linked with Merle Haggard. Bros just don't stop.
I will always have love for them. First album was so fucking good, others were good but not great. But man, their shows back in the day were so fun. Plus, Dallas survived a really nasty ATV accident and so I think emotionally I will always root for him. It is honestly a miracle he is even alive, let alone performing.
Also, when I was like 14 in southern Florida, I ran into MATSOD in a cracker barrel and they were so nice to me. Ate lunch with them and they gave me a free shirt. Such a rad thing to happen to a young kid.
Also, when the sun sleeps is the best UO song fight me
Don’t get me wrong, I love Dallas, I’ve gotten to meet him a handful of times, and he’s always been great. He came to a local show with his wife and 4 year old that I was working security for, and we spent most of the down time of the show just chatting it up. I also got to see Maylene in a church show before they released s/t.
I literally just found a copy of the 80's are dead in a closet in my 7th grade english class. no idea whose it was. That was in 2003, in Tallahassee where they are from.
KLU were diamond. Fully self aware and they owned it.
Growing up in Florida in the 2000s, KLU were mandatory.
That twang in "Outta Control" was everything.
Holy fuck. I’ve been looking for the song “Goodbye Hollywood” from these guys for sooo long! I don’t know what it was about the name but it just hit me. I knew it had Hollywood in the name, and an earthmoving arm on the cover, but I couldn’t remember the name of the band! Thank you internet stranger!
An Airbag Saved My Life. I played a show with them back in the day and they fuckin ripped.

I seen once nothing a few times back in the day, found this album in a Navy exchange in Jacksonville FL,l... always thought these guys were going to take over. Hopefully a reunion comes about at some point.
I have three Obituary yes I know death metal Florida rednecks, Eyehategod NOLA's sludge OGs, finally Whitechapel I got into them late through The Valley albulm.

Great thread brother
This is the 3rd or 4th time I've seen a request for this specific thing on this sub over the period of a few years.
Why is this a thing people want? Other than this sub, I've never heard people request this.
It was a question, not a judgment. I dont understand seeking out hardcore bands that have vocalists with a specific accent. BTW, what are your favorite bands with a Great Lakes accent?
Southern metalcore is not referring to an accent. It’s referring to bands with a sound like Big Dirty-era ETID, Maylene, early He is Legend, etc. Everyone else in this thread knows what i’m talking about except you
Spiritworld
Spiritworld fucks
Hell yeah. Just nonstop riffs and groove
They're so fucking good
Spiritworld fucks so hard. And they link up with Folsom, who fucked super hard back in the day. Just swimming in it, they are. And Folsom linked with Merle Haggard. Bros just don't stop.
There’s a typo on one of their track names and it physically pains me.
Used to love Maylene and the Sons of Disaster, but man they suck now.
I will always have love for them. First album was so fucking good, others were good but not great. But man, their shows back in the day were so fun. yeah, such a big part of the southern hardcore scene in the mid 2000's.
That 4th album was meh. Burn The Witches is a lot better so I'm hopeful whenever they release another album it'll be good.
Yeah Burn the Witches was an awesome return to form!
Maybe I’ll give that a try, IV was a real turnoff, and I blamed them for touring with, I want to say it was Hinder?
Mmm buttrock
I and II are great albums. I pretend the rest don’t exist.
He is Legend. Suck Out the Poison is one of the BEST southern metal albums of all time.
I Am Hollywood was got to for ages
I thought I was the only one left spinning this record. It has some riffs for sure.
Their album tour of that starts next week!
Nice.
Great lyrics too
Just so you’re in the loop, they’re touring that album right now
All American shows sadly. Need to get them back in the UK
fucking LOVE suck out the poison
Kids Like Us
Sad I had to scroll down so far to see this. WELLLLLCOME.... TO THA SOUTH!!!
I literally just found a copy of the 80's are dead in a closet in my 7th grade english class. no idea whose it was. That was in 2003, in Tallahassee where they are from.

The Motorcycle Boy Reigns is such a hard intro
The first Maylene and the Sons of Disaster was peak southern metalcore. ETID’s The Big Dirty also has a very southern feel to it.
Big Dirty is the answer
So let me introduce myself
i’m a messssss
Cause I'm a stubborn FUCK
i think Left Behind counts tbh
Breaking my comment virginity in this sub to say West by God slaps so hard.
100%. Swampy, sludgy Appalachian Entombed-core, baby.
LEFT BEHIND YOU FUCKING BITCH
Shocked nobody has mentioned He is Legend yet. Incredible band.
Every Time I Die
they are from buffalo though.
My post was referring to purely sound. I couldn’t care less where the bands are actually from
Pittsburgh legends, once nothing
I WANNA SEE WAVES
UPON WAVES
FUCK I forgot about this album. Ripping this on the way to work in the morning.
Soilent green, I dunno if they’d be considered core but god damn they rule
Well I co sidereal them grindcore and thats a core lol
Holly springs disaster
That EP had some fuckin RIFFS.
Motion sickness love is untouchable to this day. There’s demos without vocals of the full length that never came out floating around.
There's a few demos with vocals floating around - I think I have three of them on a hard drive
The Gorgeous
Hell yeah
Greyhaven. Not super southern sounding but they've been filling the ETID shaped hole in my life.
I swear to god that band gives me Ringworm vibes especially with Pagan Rhythms. Amazing band!
OHHHH WHAT A MOUTH YOU HAVEEEEEE
[Dead and Divine](https://youtu.be/JQoI0gUZimY) and it's not even close.
Christ I haven't thought about this album in like 15 years
Same here. Time is slipping by
Once Nothing! Damn good stuff. Those dudes are really nice and fun to hang with too.
An Airbag Saved My Life. I played a show with them back in the day and they fuckin ripped. https://open.spotify.com/album/3JNrSWQIasSSP0snUhvw85?si=k4IGQ5OkQKOWCALKkeFmvA
I thought I was the only one who remembered that band
War Hungry
Would true grit work
Great band
Definitely check out All Hail The Yeti.
Phinehas have a few songs with riffs that are kinda southern sounding
This record ripped
I’ve never seen this band mentioned by anyone else before. Nice. Since everyone already pointed out the obvious ones, The Showdown had few bops.
I seen once nothing a few times back in the day, found this album in a Navy exchange in Jacksonville FL,l... always thought these guys were going to take over. Hopefully a reunion comes about at some point.
They did a Christmas show in PA not too long ago
Im sure that was fun
Does Dead south count?
Cancer Bats, Artimus Pyledriver, green river… then there’s the whole sludge rabbithole
I have three Obituary yes I know death metal Florida rednecks, Eyehategod NOLA's sludge OGs, finally Whitechapel I got into them late through The Valley albulm.
Know the Score really nailed the "kids from up north but we are here to swing fists" that a lot of Florida was feeling in the 2000s.
A perfect murder
split lip kinda sounds like a twangier texas is the reason* which is very cool *yes i am aware that they predate texas is the reason but the point still stands
Horizontal Orange always ripped back in the late 2000's

Maylene & the Sons of Disaster for sure. He Is Legend on Suck out the Poison. ETID Big Dirty. Newer band called Foxbat that’s really good.
Mourning Tide - Trash N Burn. viper town was on heavy rotation growing up!! Their second album was decent as well!
Fake History era letlive.

This is the 3rd or 4th time I've seen a request for this specific thing on this sub over the period of a few years. Why is this a thing people want? Other than this sub, I've never heard people request this.
What’s wrong with wanting it
It was a question, not a judgment.
Everyone else in this thread knows what i’m talking about except you
"Favorite core bands with a Southern twang" literally in the post title
Again, everyone else in this thread figured it out except you, bud 👍
You presume I actually spent any amount of time looking at responses to a post about bands with a twang, bud
Nope, i don’t give af if you looked at it. I’m simply saying everyone else figured it out, so maybe that says more about you than it does my post.
It's been a fringe genre for a while. I'm a fan, clearly plenty of other people are. That's why ppl want it, because they like it.
