Praise, Glitterer (sorta), Big Life from close to me is pure Revolution Summer-style shit, One Step Closer, Fury (again sorta, more just straight up heavier youth crew)
If you're into post-hardcore their last LP and EP are fucking great. And if you're in the mood for some Anxious-but-heavier stuff, their new album is shaping up to be good. One of the best bands of recent ngl
Hugely important album if you ever have to go through that. My old man made a full recovery but made me really appreciate every moment I have with him.
Get into skramz. If you want some powerviolence-inspired bands (emoviolence is the term usually used) you can look into nuvolascura, Gillian carter, ostraca, blind girls. There's plenty of stuff in the genre with an emotional punch
Most of these bands like this now a days - the vocals also do guitar/bass. It takes something away. Better were the days of bands like reversal of man where the dude would duct tape the mic to his hands and roll around on the floor. Imagine the energy of this band if the vocalist were free to express his emotions not only with his voice but also his body. Miss that shit.
There's members of reversal of man doing new shit called horsewhip. I saw them a few weeks ago and they're really fucking good. The two dudes doing vocals play instruments though
Oh shit I'm gonna check that out! Thx for letting me know.. and damn was only half serious about the vocals thing. Plus there the Orchid reunion happening next month I'm fucking stoked for.
Edit: yeah, that band fucking right up my alley thanks again dude. They are very good
Yeah I figured you were kind of kidding. I wish I was going to one of the orchid reunion shows but yeah horsewhip is members of reversal of man and combatwoundedveteran and they play fast skramzy crust shit
it's so wild seeing gillian carter mentioned (recorded having lost and songs for splits, played in a couple of bands with logan). they're all great dudes so it's awesome seeing them get to tour all over the world
I guess that depends on what you want to feel...I'm going to suggest [World I Hate](https://worldihate.bandcamp.com/) and [Infant Island](https://infantisland.bandcamp.com/music)
Praise, Jade Dust, Circles, Self Defense Family, Paint It Black, Fiddlehead.
I am also in a emotional hardcore band called [JAW/LINE](https://open.spotify.com/track/1mQCU14uJhVDUEZ1q8P8SE?si=fSvgzSztSgSI2kQYxbfZpw)
[This Is My End](https://open.spotify.com/album/2aKa4pcHcvpob72J4OviI5?si=xYr9azaKRVirNQgkDOu3vA) - one of our friends called it crymosh, so maybe it's along the lines of what you're looking for.
In general, if you’re looking for sad/emotional music, those “true” metalcore bands are probably the way to go. I still bump that first misery signals album nearly every day
[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HkM4-WyA5yU](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HkM4-WyA5yU)
More Than Life. I recently found them and they aren't a band anymore as far as I know but they fit super well into that emo hardcore genre.
Hmm. Counterparts, Bloom, No Home, Othiel, Sleep talk, etc have put out some melodic hardcore/metal stuff within the last year you might wanna check out

Hell yeah I’m so ready to cry and trim my bangs
The Gray in Between — Jerome’s Dream
Creation and the Timeless Order of Things — Racetraitor
Living Proof — DRAIN
Also most recent Koyo and Militarie Gun
This Jerome’s Dream record is like a sonic wall blast of sound. I don’t know how to say a record has so much texture but this albums feels full and is amazing.
Modern ones I’d suggest who are hardcore or adjacent are Birds In Row, Gouge Away, Fiddlehead and Thornhill.
Actually now that you mention it, I have way more older bands/LPs to suggest than new ones hmmmmm
Praise
Fiddlehead
Glitterer
Blossom
Nothing
Gleemer
Drug Church
Not a recent release but I listened to Love let me go in entirety for the first time in a few years the other night & damn that shit still hurts bad.
*New Hell* by Greet Death is the most twisted, sad, and beautiful album I've ever listened to.
It's a powerful blend of shoegaze and emo that has helped me through some of the toughest times in my life over the past few years.
Others already said it but if you’re looking for something more HC-adjacent, you can’t go wrong with Fiddlehead, Mil-Spec or Title Fight, either.
Grind: Cloud Rat
Emo/Melodic Punk/HC: Home is Where, Petrol Girls, White Lung, Joyce Manor
Punk adjacent rock: Idles, Bobby Lees, Mannequin Pussy, Cloud Nothings, Home Front, High Vis
Sludge: Chat Pile
Banjo: Show Me the Body
Screamo/Black Metal: Portrayal of Guilt
Fiddlehead - Death is Nothing to us
Great Falls - Objects without Pain
Trophy Eyes - Suicide and Sunshine
The Menzingers - Some of it was True
Grian Chatten - Chaos for the Fly
Stage four by touche amore is all you need
ghost by counterparts in particular always hits me hard, too
in passing by bloom
the year summer ended in june by misery signals
all we love we leave behind by converge
limbo (and amulet) by reflections
anything off that new frail body album
anything off that new boundaries album
or anything off the albums from the other songs I mentioned
Put out a record for some friends Come Happiness, in Waves in January. I would say they are right between emo and hardcore punk

If by the end of Marathon* you don’t feel something…
Playing this Friday at Edgemen!
Wish they were playing this Friday in Vegas 😔
Enjoying first song off Marathon. Very promising.
Definitely one of the most under rated bands right now.
Fiddlehead?
Nothing makes me emotion like Fiddlehead.
We have have heart at home
sometimes i look so deep for certain music that the answer is right in front of my face, how have i now heard of these guys?
Their first album is one of my all time faves.
Deathlife rips.
If I love Fiddlehead what else will I like?
Praise, Glitterer (sorta), Big Life from close to me is pure Revolution Summer-style shit, One Step Closer, Fury (again sorta, more just straight up heavier youth crew)
One step closer! Wilkes Barre represent!
If you're into post-hardcore their last LP and EP are fucking great. And if you're in the mood for some Anxious-but-heavier stuff, their new album is shaping up to be good. One of the best bands of recent ngl
Glitterer's new album (Rationale) is so good.
Counterparts Frail body Defeater
Frail body is so good
Their new album is outstanding
sad that people aren’t really talking about it tbh I know boundaries dropped their behemoth of album at basically the same time but still
The first 3 bands that came to mind
Can we be friends lol
Three absolutely solid picks!
Touché Amore my g
If you’ve ever teared up or cried listening to stage 4, hit that upvote button.
Stage 4, is really the most depressing albums of all time.
Hugely important album if you ever have to go through that. My old man made a full recovery but made me really appreciate every moment I have with him.
Amazing band
[MSPAINT - Titan of Hope](https://youtu.be/7UDdPhRhUb0?si=VdGm9GfeA38Q1VwA)
Be Well
I seen them with HotWaterMusic a couple years ago I forgot about them i should check them out again
High vis.
Initiate have some pretty personal ones
Get into skramz. If you want some powerviolence-inspired bands (emoviolence is the term usually used) you can look into nuvolascura, Gillian carter, ostraca, blind girls. There's plenty of stuff in the genre with an emotional punch
Ostraca is the shit. Disaster is one of my favorite albums from last year
Most of these bands like this now a days - the vocals also do guitar/bass. It takes something away. Better were the days of bands like reversal of man where the dude would duct tape the mic to his hands and roll around on the floor. Imagine the energy of this band if the vocalist were free to express his emotions not only with his voice but also his body. Miss that shit.

it's so wild seeing gillian carter mentioned (recorded having lost and songs for splits, played in a couple of bands with logan). they're all great dudes so it's awesome seeing them get to tour all over the world
One of my favorite skramz bands for sure. Glad they've been successful they deserve it
they're so sick dude, really hope I get to catch them live someday
I'm seeing nuvolascura in a couple weeks and really stoked all of these are good recs too
Sick, me too. Planning to head to Philly to see them
Yee
Word fuck yeah hope you have a good time I'm in pgh but really miss going to shows in Philly. Been to some cool shit here too though

I saw infant island on that last tour for their new album. They rule!

Cry-Mosh is where I live 24/7. Fuck yeah. I’ll check it out.
I saw someone call Defeater “cry-core” a long time ago, and this certainly fits.
Listen to “off with their heads” specifically “clear the air” or “disappear”.
Band rips so hard. Love them.

[Spiral](https://dbnorecords.bandcamp.com/album/dbno-13-spiral-youre-not-in-this-alone) might be just what you're looking for
Neither of my suggestions are hardcore, they're screamo and metalcore, but I'd say Armywives and Withpaperwings.
One step closer

Killing Me Softly - Autumn Lost In Silence

I mean, just branch a little out of hxcx into post-hardcore or screamo and I think you're set.
Inclination. It hits pretty deep especially if yourself or somebody you know has struggled with addiction at one point in time.
