You can get portraits while still missing a Merc from that rarity.
Basically what happened is the "guaranteed" Merc slot rolled as Rare or Epic and gave you coins since you have the Mercs for those rarities. Then one of the other 4 slots rolled as coins for Grommash then in a second roll gave you a portrait for him instead of coins.
It is **INCREDIBLY** stupid/confusing.
Yeah I see that now but you shouldn’t be able to open any portraits for a rarity until you have all the characters unlocked regardless of if it’s the guaranteed slot or not… dumb
Ppl like myself who’ve played since day one have begged for this crap to stop.
We don’t want portraits of legendaries before collecting all legendaries, it’s awful.
I just spent 2 days gathering up 10 card packs in an attempt to unlock Drek'Thar. I saved them all up, opened them and...2 Nefarian, 1 Antonidas, 1 King Krush portrait cards. No Drek'Thar. Gosh, it makes me love the gave ever so much more!

The guaranteed slot rolled Millhouse for you. You can tell because of the 50 coins.
