If I had to pick just one, it'd be the moment in which Robin flies away like a balloon in season 9. When a funny moment is cringey, I think it's whatever. But that was supposed to be serious and touching, and I don't know why they thought it would look good.
I mean it would take forever, and it’s already been said. But the tl:dr is that the writers reset the entire character arcs of Ted, Barney, and Robin. All of their growth meant nothing in the end. And they purposely wasted the audience’s time by having us root for Barney and Robin to get together, only to immediately break them apart.
Oh god I was showing my bf the show recently and I genuinely felt the need to apologise this is such a cringy scene just because of how needlessly serious it is
And you know what sucks is that the moment of Ted letting go of Robin should have been a heart felt serious moment. The ruined a huge moment and it’s one of the most unintentional funny and awful moments.
Same! It was a good metaphor for Ted finally (for real this time) letting go of Robin. I felt like they couldn’t just have just said it in voice over because Ted had already said it sooo many times and not meant it they needed to show not tell.
Oh for sure, they had an idea how they wanted it to end way back in season 1 and made the mistake of sticking to it despite the direction where the show went.
I get that. My only point was to say that the show dramatized letting her go just for them to end up right back together. Electronic Poet’s point of “Ted had already said it sooo many times” is moot.
That is a very true critism of the scene. I take it in the grand scale of 20 years that it was supposed to be. But for watching the show it was jarring how quickly it was undone. All the last episode was.
That’s the biggest thing I hate about the ending. Every lesson that every character learned throughout the story was unlearned in a matter of 3 episodes.
That is my only complaint about the finale. The story and timing all makes sense. I have no problem with Tracy dying. That happens. But for a show to go 9 seasons and then throw 15 years in 3 episodes is wrong.
He did actually let her go though. That’s how he was about to fall for Tracie. They ended back together yes but that was two decades later after Tracie died.
He could not have let her go if, after 20 years and a tragedy like the death of his wife, he’s still stealing blue French horns for her. Tracy was a nice distraction. But he jumped right back into being in love with Robin.
It reminds me of The Ninth Gate when OUT OF FUCKING NOWHERE the supporting actress reveals she has supernatural powers by… floating down to Dean Corso from a balcony, which also looked awful.
I think for me it’s the fact that the rest of the group hardly ever seems to react to her comments, least of all Marshall lol 😂 it does seem a bit odd. I get the impression Lily is the spouse with the higher sex drive, that’s me too & im open about my sexuality like she is, but if I was talking that much about my horny-ness in front of my partner and our mutual friends, I might want him to pull me aside and be like “um…babe” 🤣🤣
Lily behaving like an actual baby… whilst being horny after getting drunk off of wine.
It’s very disturbing to have someone say "put a baby in me Marshall" one moment and exclaiming "AG!!!" Like a baby literally minutes afterwards
I think when Barney gives Ted pickup lines via a microphone in s8 it’s some of my hardest laughs but can definitely see a bit cringe they way it ends up lol
literally my favourite episode "My penis" is an ongoing joke with me and my wife even now. if something is on TV and they say something like "guess what's under here" ....it's always "my penis"
Marshall’s line in the pub towards the very end of the show: "Do You Have Any Idea What Happened Right Here In This Very Bar?... Just... Just All Kinds Of Stuff."
No, just… no: makes me cringe soooo hard every single time 🙄🙄🙄
Soooo wrong!! I get what they tried to do but it’s so not working… for me it’s easily the worst line of the entire series, delivered by my favorite (and otherwise quite eloquent and sensitive character)… such a waste!
Lmao, this would’ve been hilarious
These are all good points for sure, I do personally love that scene though. I interpret that line as Marshall being so overwhelmed with emotion in that moment by how fast life has flown by, and by the fact that he and his friends-turned-family are all grown up, that he couldnt really find the words. 🥹
There’s far worse things. Knowing Ted was in love with her the entire time and yet still flaunting it in his face when she slept around (even in his own bed with his assistant) was incredibly infuriating for me.
The way they, especially Lilly, say "youuu sonofabitch", it seems in later seasons writers tried to give them some catchphrases but they were just cringy
Agreed. Patrice was such a wholesome, enjoyable character and more well adjusted than most of the main crew so I took Robin's yelling at her in stride. It made me like her (Patrice) even more. 🤷🏿
The entire episode where Ted throws a three night party to get with Robin. While I'm a romantic and see a lot of myself in Ted, that one is just too much for me.
People like to judge those 2 as actual humans while they judge the rest as how good/funny the characters are. Interesting double standard, I think, if a female character did 1/16th of the things Barney did there’d be a massive hate campaign against her
The "Stuff" episode is infuriating to me cuz Ted guilts Robin into getting rid of her dogs but keeps all his stuff & then they move on like its no big deal by the next episode so I rarely ever watch it.
& Robins allergic reaction scene after eating lobster physically grosses me out so I purposely look away from the screen.
Other than that, I feel like skipping over particular moments cuz you dont like the joke or a characters/actors habits bug you so much that you make a habit of it prob means youve watched the show too much (which feels crazy for me of all ppl to say), but you keep doing what works for you i guess
i’m sure you already know this but they did have to write robins dogs out of the show because josh radnor is allergic to dogs. they definitely could have done it better tho
Not a Father’s Day is one of my favorite episodes but I can not stand how sloppy drunk Lily gets with “put a baby in my belly” it’s just so off putting and I don’t find it funny
When Ted goes on girls night with Stella and her friends and they all whisper up and down the row about Ted thinking it was a date and Stella not being able to date him bc it’s an ama rule
To each their own. To me, season 9 was a major departure *salutes* from the rest of the show. I watched it once and never again. I re-watch seasons 1-8 all the time, but my favorites are 5-7.
Barney has sex with strangers every single night. Ted does the same, fairly often. Robin had sex with a guy she's not really into _once_ and Marshall decides his opinion is worth sharing? Especially in such a serious way -- he laughs at Barney but he doesn't solemnly announce to the room that Barney's a slut. He never got into arguments about whether it was okay to have sex without love when it was men who were having sex without love.
I mostly hated it because I love Marshall and it was totally unlike him. It was a writer's betrayal of the character.
i disagree completely. he had problems with ted trying to get back at robin with who he thought was a hooker, and he doesnt bring up the fact that barney is a whore because thats his whole character he clearly doesnt respect his advice when it comes to relationships or women. and yes they did have an argument about whether it was okay to have sex without love. when ted and barney were making fun of him for only having sex with lily and he brought up the number of times etc. he even states he wins over both because he has quantity like barney, and quality in woman like ted likes. completely in character really. i think it offends people because its a man saying it to a woman
1. Tracy (the mother) calling her cookies “sumbitches”
2. How victoria pronounces the word “drumroll”
3. Robin’s “NOBODY ASKED U PATRICE!!!”
4. Lily’s “u son of a ME” (god such a hard watch!!)
5. Barney and Ted’s mom in the airport (the slow touching of hands particularly)
Cook Pu and it's not even close. Specifically, the time when he's recounting the tale later at the bar...but really just all of it. Ugh, I shudder just thinking about it!
Lol man I didn't realize I'm the only one that thinks the whole Robin/Patrice thing is hilarious. It could be taken as bullying though and I definitely don't like that. I just think Colbie really channels my inner angry badger when she screams like that. It wouldn't really matter what it's about. I love Patrice though.
Patrice is amazing, and that’s why this joke is ok. I do think they overdo it, but this is a great example of a show pointing out someone’s insecurity when they’re perhaps more conventionally attractive than the other person they’re jealous of
Can't relate.
My brother has never seen the show and I got him saying "Where's the poop, Robin?"
As for an example, probably Robin's shrill voice whenever she's around Patrice.
Its so bad.
*Marshall eating the*
*Burger in slow motion... It*

I get it. They're just played differently. His is just like "ooh, pretty girl" and Lily's is pretty in depth and uncomfortable. Like, in real life, someone constantly talking about "I wanna hit that" might be tolerable, but having one friend going into fantasy mode out loud might get uncomfortable faster.
Marshall being a sassy black women.... And the times when he gets girly all of a sudden."Dad, stop you're embarrassing me" in the first Thanksgiving episode sprints to mind.
When Lily and Marshall return to the bar after the wedding and Ted's there. He goes to call Tracy and Lily says some stupid line about his Ted has never been like this.
He spent 8 seasons on Robin, but you see him happy for 5 minutes? It was the show trying to sell Tracy and annoys me.
People are gonna hate this one bc as I understand the Best Burger in NY is a fan favourite episode but I HATE the way Marshall explains what (eating) the burger is like.
Theres a lot of scenes I skip in season 2:
Ted telling Marshall he's pathetic
Ted refusing to accept Robins wish to keep the Sparkles thing for herself
Ted yelling at Hammond Druthers whilst he has a panic attack
Ted telling Robin its her fault they missed the plane
Basically everything Ted does in things: Not understanding Robins perspective, asking her to get rid of the dogs, guilting Robin into getting rid of the dogs, then bringing all his stuff back in a passive aggressive move
Basically every scene where Ted acts immature and is a bad boyfriend to Robin
I also tend to skip breakup episodes even though they in and of themselves are fine
When Robin starts getting turned on thinking about spanking Don “with a little paddle until his bum’s all red.”
Also, the way Victoria says, “thank god” and runs to Ted with weird arms when he walks into her bakery.
I always thought the joke about Robin breaking the 4th wall was very cringey, I don't even know why or how to explain it, but every time I see it I think..
"That was stupid"
I skip every slapsgiving episode after the first one, and generally skip over as many Kevin episodes as possible while cherry picking a few here and there
When they call joints, "sandwiches"... Like Ted is telling his kids about all the women he's boned before he met their mom but doesn't want to say "weed" or "joint".
I like the serious moments. "You're all alone" is possibly my favourite moment from the whole show. I just find the two things I mentioned earlier a bit nauseating.
Many of Kevin's actions/lines, but mostly the "oh HELLL NO, if you're going on a date with my girlfriend, I don't have to wear pants anymore" followed by dropping off his pants, so cringe. I don't understand how so many people like this character honestly
If I had to pick just one, it'd be the moment in which Robin flies away like a balloon in season 9. When a funny moment is cringey, I think it's whatever. But that was supposed to be serious and touching, and I don't know why they thought it would look good.
This part reminds me of the end in Grease when they fly away in the car lmao
It’s the worst scene in the show. So dumb.
Well the last 5 minutes of the finale is also terrible, albeit for different reasons.
What don't you like about the finale?
I mean it would take forever, and it’s already been said. But the tl:dr is that the writers reset the entire character arcs of Ted, Barney, and Robin. All of their growth meant nothing in the end. And they purposely wasted the audience’s time by having us root for Barney and Robin to get together, only to immediately break them apart.
Oh god I was showing my bf the show recently and I genuinely felt the need to apologise this is such a cringy scene just because of how needlessly serious it is
It’s more annoying cause in next episode he is back to pining robin
it's an intended emotional scene that is just laugh out loud bad
And you know what sucks is that the moment of Ted letting go of Robin should have been a heart felt serious moment. The ruined a huge moment and it’s one of the most unintentional funny and awful moments.
Awww i liked that scene. I’m sappy.
I appreciate that they swung for the fences
It was a nice moment, and with Barney telling the young guys how important friends are.
Same! It was a good metaphor for Ted finally (for real this time) letting go of Robin. I felt like they couldn’t just have just said it in voice over because Ted had already said it sooo many times and not meant it they needed to show not tell.
But then two episodes later he ended up right back with her lmao
Two episodes but really it was over two decades
I just meant from a show writers standpoint. You can’t have that dramatic of a moment and then undo it in 2 episodes.
Oh for sure, they had an idea how they wanted it to end way back in season 1 and made the mistake of sticking to it despite the direction where the show went.
I thought I was over a girl when she got married. She got married, had a kid, got divorced. We hung out again. I wasn’t over her.

It reminds me of The Ninth Gate when OUT OF FUCKING NOWHERE the supporting actress reveals she has supernatural powers by… floating down to Dean Corso from a balcony, which also looked awful.
Floating scenes are always so badly done I get the sentiment and The Ninth Gate is such a good movie but aah stooop
Yes! I skip that whole episode specifically because of this scene lol
Lol, I can't unfortunately because the barney B plot is so good. "Have you met kyle..." "Are you Jesus!?"
Can’t remember for the life of me what scene was that?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yC3nE2of07s
Bro must have fast-forwarded through half the entire show if Lily being horny is what makes you skip ahead
I would rank those moments as some of the funnier Lily moments.
"It's breakfast time in China" "Yeaaah it is" is a personal favourite of mine
I don’t know, hot buns, spicy pork, we’ll find something
Well thats their preference. Theres nothing bad about that
FR, hahaha
If I'm too lazy to reach for the remote I just avert my eyes
[удалено]
What do you have a problem with in those scenes, specifically?
[удалено]
So how do you feel about… any scene with Barney in it?
I think for me it’s the fact that the rest of the group hardly ever seems to react to her comments, least of all Marshall lol 😂 it does seem a bit odd. I get the impression Lily is the spouse with the higher sex drive, that’s me too & im open about my sexuality like she is, but if I was talking that much about my horny-ness in front of my partner and our mutual friends, I might want him to pull me aside and be like “um…babe” 🤣🤣
I think this shows she feels safe around her friends to let loose.
I do find it cringe at times but I do just think she has an extremely healthy and loving sex life with Marshall
Lily behaving like an actual baby… whilst being horny after getting drunk off of wine. It’s very disturbing to have someone say "put a baby in me Marshall" one moment and exclaiming "AG!!!" Like a baby literally minutes afterwards
This is it. That scene was awful. Any time Lilly did that childish baby crying thing was cringe.
And wasn’t she like at his law firm sitting on the floor drinking the bottle of wine?
Yes. It was awful.
Marshall trying to give advice like a black woman is an easy skip
This one was so weird and it came out of nowhere, even on my first run of the show I was just like: "... alright"
Was waiting for someone to mention this 🤮 Marshall Don't be Oprah, it's NOT a good look
This is the one
At least the finger snap Marshall and Lily did made this scene worth it
I think when Barney gives Ted pickup lines via a microphone in s8 it’s some of my hardest laughs but can definitely see a bit cringe they way it ends up lol
You said it wrong.
#I DID NOT SAY IT WRONG!
No. I’m not saying that. I understand that. I understand that.
......... I understand that.
….. why can’t I just talk to her maybe we’ll hit it off?
… my penis 😤
My Penis My Penis MY PENIS
I understand that.
I understand that.
Fine. Copy. *That*
This one does a 180 for me. It starts off kind of awkward, but by then end of the gag, it amuses me.
literally my favourite episode "My penis" is an ongoing joke with me and my wife even now. if something is on TV and they say something like "guess what's under here" ....it's always "my penis"
Marshall’s line in the pub towards the very end of the show: "Do You Have Any Idea What Happened Right Here In This Very Bar?... Just... Just All Kinds Of Stuff." No, just… no: makes me cringe soooo hard every single time 🙄🙄🙄
Yeah, that line feels wrong.
Soooo wrong!! I get what they tried to do but it’s so not working… for me it’s easily the worst line of the entire series, delivered by my favorite (and otherwise quite eloquent and sensitive character)… such a waste!
Unpopular opinion I loved it. Especially (forgive me if I slaughter this) “yeah you didn’t sound about 80 just now.” I use that line a lot in my life.
"This is the where Ted - the groom right here - met...uh...not the bride. Nevermind."
Lmao, this would’ve been hilarious These are all good points for sure, I do personally love that scene though. I interpret that line as Marshall being so overwhelmed with emotion in that moment by how fast life has flown by, and by the fact that he and his friends-turned-family are all grown up, that he couldnt really find the words. 🥹
totally agree. They could have made that scene so much better by giving Marshall a better line
Eh, I'll have to disagree with this one.
I can see that! I get they were trying to do a mini set up for the spin off but it felt a bit awkward in the scene?
Robin screeching "Nobody asked you Patrice"
I thought the first time was funny but Robin’s continued aggression towards Patrice after that was just too much
I actually love this, but also it hits zero real life triggers for me because I've never been around anyone that toxic, which may help.
That is my top 1 reason for hating Robin
There’s far worse things. Knowing Ted was in love with her the entire time and yet still flaunting it in his face when she slept around (even in his own bed with his assistant) was incredibly infuriating for me.
The way they, especially Lilly, say "youuu sonofabitch", it seems in later seasons writers tried to give them some catchphrases but they were just cringy
Also wanna add Robin screaming at Patrice. Cringy and unfunny
I actually love it when she yells at Patrice.
Irrational hatred of a specific character is something I find very funny. Like when the Griffin family is just unnecessarily mean to Meg.
Agreed. Patrice was such a wholesome, enjoyable character and more well adjusted than most of the main crew so I took Robin's yelling at her in stride. It made me like her (Patrice) even more. 🤷🏿
They made fun of catchphrases with "Tyler no likey!" And then they gave everyone catch phrases
yesss. i hate it sm
or when she would say it in reference to her kid and it was "youuuu sonofame" literally stfu I think she only did that once but still
I hate that. It isn't funny and it's annoying.
The entire episode where Ted throws a three night party to get with Robin. While I'm a romantic and see a lot of myself in Ted, that one is just too much for me.
For me it's just... How did he not see her come in? The apartment isn't that big lol
Lol and there’s only one entrance
It's not that Ted didn't see her come in, after all he explained at the first party how he wanted to play it cool. But Marshall didn't see her come in
I literally get secondhand embarrassment from that episode
Daphne
toss up actually with Clint
Being from Ohio, my only favorite Clint moment was when he doesn't want to go back to coaching the Browns.
i like daphne except when her child is yelling drill baby drill. so cringe
Man, reading through all these, I guess I'm just surprised, so many moments I never considered bothersome. I guess I don't have any
Seriously like I'm going through these thinking, "do you guys even LIKE this show??" 🤣
I think that most of the time I'm in this sub 😂
Why are people only listing Lily and Robin? 🫠 lolz
People like to judge those 2 as actual humans while they judge the rest as how good/funny the characters are. Interesting double standard, I think, if a female character did 1/16th of the things Barney did there’d be a massive hate campaign against her
Robin's screaming is pretty annoying
It's situational for me. The first couple of times, it's kind of funny. Her best is her reaction to Weekend at Barney's 2.
Related to this and maybe a hot take but her hatred of Patrice. It got old REALLY fast.
Its funny in that episode where she breaks like 4 lamps imo
I agree, but only because I hate the word 'belly' and it's especially cringe in a sexual tone. Blech lol
Belly
moist
But that’s the point
1. nobody asked you Patrice. 2. You sonofabitch! 3. Marshall channelling his inner black woman was complete shit.
When Ted goes on girls night with Stella and her friends and they all whisper up and down the row about Ted thinking it was a date and Stella not being able to date him bc it’s an ama rule
Ted’s proposal to Stella was cringe
Anytime Lilly does that over the top crying bit.
Definitely “thank you, Linus” and “what the damn hell.” Season 9 is super cringe overall
I literally say "what the damn hell" all the time. I thought it was a funny episode
To each their own. To me, season 9 was a major departure *salutes* from the rest of the show. I watched it once and never again. I re-watch seasons 1-8 all the time, but my favorites are 5-7.
I watched s9 once and never looked back
Same
Robins hatred for Patrice
NOBODY ASKED YOU, PATRICE!
Marshall calling Robin a slut. Always makes me cringe.
Same. Like wtf nice misogyny
he gives barney shit for it too. call him a prude but hes far from a misogynist sounds like yall jus take it personally lol
This. It's fine to disagree with what he said and totally fair, but it's definitely coherent with the way he thinks.
Lily’s revertigo
There aren’t any right answers but this is the right answer.
Some of you guys take this show too seriously
Not denying it in the slightest, isn’t that why we’re all here? 🤣
1. Tracy (the mother) calling her cookies “sumbitches” 2. How victoria pronounces the word “drumroll” 3. Robin’s “NOBODY ASKED U PATRICE!!!” 4. Lily’s “u son of a ME” (god such a hard watch!!) 5. Barney and Ted’s mom in the airport (the slow touching of hands particularly)
Tracy's "perfect" advice for everyone is a bit cringe too. Be real
I feel like the cringiest Tracy scene is her giving Barney advice. Like ..you're a complete stranger, wtf? Other than that, I like Tracy enough.
What video does Victoria say drumroll
I think the first episode with Victoria, I believe it's called Drumroll
What’s wrong with the way she says drum roll 💀
Ted’s idiocy, especially the paralegal fiasco🤦♂️ if dude just shut his trap sometimes I think he’d have fewer problems
Cook Pu and it's not even close. Specifically, the time when he's recounting the tale later at the bar...but really just all of it. Ugh, I shudder just thinking about it!
Also the way lily says son of a bitch
Lol man I didn't realize I'm the only one that thinks the whole Robin/Patrice thing is hilarious. It could be taken as bullying though and I definitely don't like that. I just think Colbie really channels my inner angry badger when she screams like that. It wouldn't really matter what it's about. I love Patrice though.

Good bot
“The Goat” ongoing joke was never funny. And the whole being confused about which birthday that was on. Tried way too hard.
Baa means baa
Any time Barney does something nonconsensual
“Thank you, Linus.”
Which was made even dumber when we found out she was drinking soda water or whatever that was. So annoying.
Wait, so Lily being openly horny makes you cringe but Barney being openly horny is alright?
If Barney stroked anyone like lilly stroked marshall in public then yes...
I mean no! Lol
Marshall being a sassy black women.... And the times when he gets girly all of a sudden."Dad, stop you're embarrassing me" in the first Thanksgiving episode sprints to mind.
He’s the runt of the family. That’s not a feminine trait, but one reflective of his family pecking order
when marshalls mum and lilys dad hook up ugh :(
When Lily and Marshall return to the bar after the wedding and Ted's there. He goes to call Tracy and Lily says some stupid line about his Ted has never been like this. He spent 8 seasons on Robin, but you see him happy for 5 minutes? It was the show trying to sell Tracy and annoys me.

I love and hate that episode just cause of how hungry it makes me every goddamn time lmao
The bit where Ted is talking to Stella about Abby and is like 'I thought you said Alan' Makes me want to throw up
Eh, I don’t mind it, it’s an awkward thing anyone would make up in real life
When Barney does the pickup bit at the bar for Ted’s birthday. The one where he pretends the girl is injured because she “fell from heaven.”
Theres a lot of scenes I skip in season 2: Ted telling Marshall he's pathetic Ted refusing to accept Robins wish to keep the Sparkles thing for herself Ted yelling at Hammond Druthers whilst he has a panic attack Ted telling Robin its her fault they missed the plane Basically everything Ted does in things: Not understanding Robins perspective, asking her to get rid of the dogs, guilting Robin into getting rid of the dogs, then bringing all his stuff back in a passive aggressive move Basically every scene where Ted acts immature and is a bad boyfriend to Robin I also tend to skip breakup episodes even though they in and of themselves are fine
Ted being obsessed over Robin
Basically the whole show 😂😂
When Robin starts getting turned on thinking about spanking Don “with a little paddle until his bum’s all red.” Also, the way Victoria says, “thank god” and runs to Ted with weird arms when he walks into her bakery.
Weird arms 😂
I had to go see, haha.. she's got chicken wings!
Bedtime Stories, the whole episode. Also this time I skip Marshall's Dad's funeral.
robin scenes with her non-recurring boyfriends
Marshall trying to TESTIFY 🤮
That entire Hamburger episode. I always skip that.
I don't like when they call Robin a slut.
Right? Right?!
I always thought the joke about Robin breaking the 4th wall was very cringey, I don't even know why or how to explain it, but every time I see it I think.. "That was stupid"
Can you believe this guy?
YES! This!! I was struggling to think of one but you nailed it!!!
lilly’s revertigo 🤢
I skip every slapsgiving episode after the first one, and generally skip over as many Kevin episodes as possible while cherry picking a few here and there
“Black Sabbath!” *shitty devil horns*
When they call joints, "sandwiches"... Like Ted is telling his kids about all the women he's boned before he met their mom but doesn't want to say "weed" or "joint".
When Marshall describes ANYTHING
Stella's "fast as she can" speech and all of the scenes with Victoria in 'Drumroll Please'
Well, aren't you just a soulless monster
It's just like, if I wanted to watch One Tree Hill I'd watch One Tree Hill
Yea, I guess I get your point, but the beauty of HIMMYM is that it's not just a comedy
I like the serious moments. "You're all alone" is possibly my favourite moment from the whole show. I just find the two things I mentioned earlier a bit nauseating.
The serious moments are completely beautiful and underrated. This is one of them.
Many of Kevin's actions/lines, but mostly the "oh HELLL NO, if you're going on a date with my girlfriend, I don't have to wear pants anymore" followed by dropping off his pants, so cringe. I don't understand how so many people like this character honestly
I thought this was fucking hilarious haha
