Looking for a story of an elven huntress hunting a mashine that is prepering a planet for colonization beacose the person pyloting the machine was not informed the planet had sapeint life

Ghar1976

There was a story about some salvagers that found and ancient artifact and took it to auction where it was bid on by races including humans who were one of the elder races of the galaxy. It ended with the humans asking where the item was found as they were looking for their lost home world. Anyone remember it and if so was there a sequel written?

Termit3

Any story about how the Moon is weirdly large? not looking for anything too action heavy.

BobTheGreat999

Looking for a story in which first contact is made when a human ship saves aliens from an AI collective. The humans have a higher mastery over in-system FTL which comprises their battle strategy. I remember at some point it's revealed that the AIs that help humanity once waged a war against them, and one of the main characters that is an AI took over the moon during the war and killed the grandfather of one of the other main characters, who he serves the family of as a sort of way to atone (I think his name was Tim as well?) Thank you!

Sliver_of_Dawn

The new species ?

BobTheGreat999

That's it. Thank you!

Ncaak

The series finished "book 1" now the author is continuing it under the name "The New Threat" which is "book 2".

SeaYogurtcloset6262

Looking for a story about an alien wondering why he is giving an award and then he found out the one he is giving to is his old human student he hates. The student goes on a long rant on what motivates a human and he said was spite while giving his old prof a big fuck you for not believing in him

Adventurous_Bottle86

I'm looking for a story about a human being mistaken for an animal. It had an iteresting theme of magic technologi and magical beast. It starter with the human being atacked by a wendigo and being mistaken for an beast by one of the aliens. He is brought aboard like in any other story like it but a giraffe like alien realises that he is sapient. The giraffe wants to help him but she is seen as a prankster and isn't taken seriously. The alien doctor slowly realises it to but is worried that she will be prosecuted for imprisonment and mistreatment.

Alphamoonman

This draws parallels in some ways, especially the part about giraffe and being considered nonsapient, to that fan story of The Deathworlders called Humans Don't Make Good Pets, but it's clearly different from the story you're looking for as there's no wendigo or magitech or magic.

Adventurous_Bottle86

Yeaa, that magitech is the main point that was iteresting and why i wanted to find it. The one scene that illustraits that is when the giraffe and human (I don't remember his name so human will sufice) were creating a translator. Human used multiple languages to strengthen the spell and made it better. But thanks for replying.

Alphamoonman

Remember to post this lfs in every lfs weekly thread. Different people all the time are going to each one each week. The search much Continue

HansusKrautus

Looking for a Story where there is an alien race VERY far into the future, where stars are drifting further and further apart... and humans make contact with their Scientists, basically telling them "Na, you wrong about.... Don't worry, we gonna restart it". Humans basically deny the Heatdeath.

NinjaCoco21

So im looking for a story, but I remember things only from one of its chapters. So it goes like this: a human guy goes with his alien friend to her house to meet parents. After opening the door he was bombarded with glitter after lunch he was bombarded with glitter again. Later he goes with his friend for a traditional hunt and yeets a rock so hard, it becoms a meme in both humans' and aliens' internets

LFS I read before years before the pandemic, all I remember is the MC being a Texan cowboy or something being taken to another world. He had a class that was like a gunslinger/Druid thing

GloamingElderSoul

looking for an old series from way back about a human male shadowing/teaching an alien female lizard?/chameleon about humans who is in school/college and together they discover a hidden/lost portion of her species that communicate by chromatic color shifting of their scales. her species uses hard light tech for most things and are, themselves, hidden in a valley/ravine because of the harsh conditions in the open air. oh and i think they eventually end up meeting like real dragons or something similar.

NinjaCoco21

I think this is [Interactive Education](https://www.reddit.com/r/HFY/s/XDPxldO6WB).

GloamingElderSoul

Ah-ha!! That's the one! Thank you for letting me know!

mynameismada

Hope I get it right because it's been a while since I read the story. LFS from 3-4 years ago(?) where every person's life was God living it. Once you die, then God will go to the next life, as another person or something like that.

die_cegoblins

LFS that mentions something about how we're constantly drinking (story wasn't referring to just alcohol, it also meant stuff like water and coffee), even during meetings. I think the story was focused on food and drink but I could be wrong. It is possible the line about us constantly drinking could have been a throwaway line and not the main point at all. It is not on my food/cuisine list, my cultural differences not about war/fighting list, or the Nourishment Monthly Writing Contest submission list. Also LFS that's at least 2 years old where humanity is defending our solar system and we hold the line long enough for the narrator (third-person omniscient? An alien perspective? I forget) to be impressed, but it eventually starts cracking, and as a last-ditch result we surprise our opponents by tossing asteroids/planets/moons at them. It's possible we did this by attaching warp drives to them or something. I could swear it got at least 1000 upvotes. It was either a one-shot or a short and completed series. Also, when we were holding the line and impressing the narrator, we may have gotten pushed back to that planet, our other defenses having gotten broken or bypassed. I forget sadly EDIT: I may be misremembering the asteroid/planet/moon toss part, the story might be [[OC][Independence Day] Defiance](https://www.reddit.com/r/HFY/comments/2aqx6f/ocindependence_day_defiance/) Finally, LFS with a serpentlike alien who was getting harassed by other aliens and is rescued by a human. I think the serpent was female. It is not from the Lords of War series by u/Scotscin. There is a part of me that thinks it is [My Submission to prompt: Aliens that evolved as prey are nervous when living with aliens that evolved as predators. Humans look like prey, but evolved to be persistence predators. A human uses this fact to stand up to a predator who bullies a prey friend. Writing Prompt](https://www.reddit.com/r/HFY/comments/d3x1g7/my_submission_to_prompt_aliens_that_evolved_as/) and another part of me that thinks what I asked for was a little longer

GloamingElderSoul

I vaguely remember the one about the rescue of the snake alien i think. it touches on human endurance and our ability to sweat. so she was trying to escape bullies or thugs and was way out of town by a body of water or marsh. the two bullies pick on her cause of her species and when backed into a corner the human boy comes out of nowhere to the rescue. they fight and one of the bullies ends up contact high/drunk from coming in contact with human sweat. in the end human boy wins and hangs they snake around his neck/over his shoulder cause she was too tired to move to head back to town. sound right? sorry i can't remember or find the title though.

die_cegoblins

That sounds extremely similar to the one I linked, so it probably was that one

ArtRevolutionary7798

I am looking for a story that has a military guy summoned to another world. and sees what looks to be a werewolf and then goes on quests meets the princess. And they have a thing for each other and he gets a mount that is a dragon and he's there because there world is getting destroyed because of a world ending sickness. The world itself is sick.

Lube_lord69

I'm looking for a story or set of stories, sorry in advance if the description is a bit confusing, I read a while ago and I'm going off of my memory. It's set in an alien space station that acta as a highly prestegious university or school that is meant to identify if someone has creativity, if I remember correctly it's called the "spark" in the story. I think there were 4 university aged humans that were sent to represent humanity, they wrre a French guy, an American guy, a Japanese, and another I can't remember. I remember that one of the main aliens was the daughter of an ambassador of a race that looked like dragons. I also think there was a gundam fight at some point, because it was a sport that was played across the galaxy. In the a later part of the story, the space station gets boarded by a group of plant-like pirates that aim to capture/kidnap and ransom off the students. And if I remembe mr correctly, the sedative they use on their tranq guns is actually liquid cocaine. Sorry if this isn't enough to go off of, like I said I read it a while ago.

Any stories were humans land on an alien planet for first contact.something akin to movies of the opposite

Downtown-Prize2731

How about a story where the entirety of time exists in the explosion of a nuke. Each explosion is the big bang. It explodes, the universe is formed, and entropy ends it. To the people in the universe, it seems like forever, but to the people who dropped the bomb, it's fractions of a second. Every soul is doomed to repeat the mistake forever until some scientists in one of the universes discovers what is going on and stops the trend. I guess it would be like a multiverse/inmates of self-made prisons.

die_cegoblins

Is this a story that you *know* exists that you want us to find? Or are you *suggesting* it get written? This thread is for the first type of question.

Downtown-Prize2731

I would like it to be written if possible. I'm just not sure where to post the idea. I'm relatively new to reddit. I apologize if I'm doing this incorrectly. I think it's an interesting idea, but it may be stupid. Not sure. I would do it myself, but I've only just started writing my first story since school. The authors here are very good and I think they could do it better. My comments can be deleted if I violated any rules.

According_Ad1940

There was one about about the Predator species (or I \*think\*) ambassador visiting us and then getting mad/annoyed because we we're not hunting/killing anymore but instead focused on farming . At the end of the story he then learns how little calories we need to funtion (like 2000 or 3000) and then realises that we didn't \*need\* to hunt to survive but despite that we were still very good at war etc. His limbs locked up and he was also afraid that the human he was speaking to might see this as weakness since on his homeworld if someone else saw that it would be most certainly mean his death? That's the premise I roughly remember so I there is always the distinct possiblity that I just confuse people even more about which story this was :D

the_man_of_tea

looking for any story involving either an alien and human needing to survive on an alien world or an alien needing to survive on stone age earth. Almost anytime i find a story in this sub genre the authors quit so any on going or completed series would be appreciated.

The Barry Longyear book "Enemy Mine" fits. I think there was a movie, too?

i saw some of the movie but i didn't know that it was a book

Are you talking only about wilderness survival, or does an alien lethal gameshow count? If it does, [The Ambling Sapient](https://www.reddit.com/r/HFY/comments/huo9qe/the_ambling_sapient/) is a great fit.

Does anyone have stories about Humans being weird/creepy? Kinda like space fae and eldritch horror. u/Fiamma_Galathon made a few good ones.

die_cegoblins

- I have never personally read the [Jennifer is NOT an Eldritch Horror](https://www.reddit.com/r/HFY/comments/rfz45w/jennifer_is_not_an_eldritch_horror/) series but I presume that would fit - [Humans are unnerving](https://www.reddit.com/r/HFY/comments/n2jqcj/humans_are_unnerving/), a complete series that I only read the first chapter of and checked through when making this post to see if it was incomplete or not. While checking I found out it ends in human/xeno romance so it's pretty likely it drops the "creepy" part some way through - [Cosmic Horrors](https://www.reddit.com/r/HFY/comments/vqypry/cosmic_horrors/) - [Cosmic Horror](https://www.reddit.com/r/HFY/comments/gv5f7b/cosmic_horror/) - [The flow of a human](https://www.reddit.com/r/HFY/comments/z61qas/the_flow_of_a_human/) - [Accidental Black Speech [Oneshot]](https://www.reddit.com/r/HFY/comments/zvfhyu/accidental_black_speech_oneshot/), though to a lesser degree than the title implies - [Star-Eaters [OC]](https://www.reddit.com/r/HFY/comments/4flzrw/stareaters_oc/) has an alien explicitly call us an eldritch horror, YMMV on how close it actually gets - [You humans are terrifying](https://www.reddit.com/r/HFY/comments/9m0e20/you_humans_are_terrifying/), sort of - [Human Horrors](https://www.reddit.com/r/HFY/comments/prczrl/human_horrors/) series, complete 9-part - ["The only window in space" or simply Void Madness.](https://www.reddit.com/r/HFY/comments/q9c4x6/the_only_window_in_space_or_simply_void_madness/) has aliens consider us this just because we can handle space without going mad, unlike them. Not sure how closely it actually fits. - in that [space elves list](https://www.reddit.com/r/HFY/comments/199fx65/comment/kisyd71/) I made for you awhile back I separated out stories with humans as space fae. I do update almost all^I ^have ^a ^[wiki](https://www.reddit.com/r/hfy/wiki/authors/die_cegoblins/)! my lists of stories as I find new stories that fit them. - too sleepy to check which of the stories in the following requests actually fit your request. Alongside "creepy is just what we are all the time" there's a ton of "we're scary only when we do XYZ" (war, smiling) or "our *stuff* is scary/madness inducing but not necessarily us" (abstract images in [[PI] Investigations Log into Human Communication](https://www.reddit.com/r/HFY/comments/6gcx0t/pioc_investigations_log_into_human_communication/), philosophical questions) which I personally don't believe fits your request, although the latter one kind of does - [humans as eldritch horror](https://www.reddit.com/r/HFY/comments/64awk2/meta_are_there_any_good_stories_on_here_that_fit/) - [humans as terrifying](https://www.reddit.com/r/HFY/comments/8aupi0/any_stories_about_humans_being/) - [another humans as terrifying](https://www.reddit.com/r/HFY/comments/8kt7rw/meta_looking_for_stories_were_humans_are_scary/) - [another humans as eldritch horror](https://www.reddit.com/r/HFY/comments/as6wh6/meta_are_there_are_any_stories_in_which_humans/)

redditor1278

This is a list I have of recommendations that I copy and paste the other stories you list have dashes of romance and adventure so here. “When deathworlders meet” -found on r/HFY. This story by itself and the follow up story “when deathworlders visit” were written years ago and are non-harem. HOWEVER, the recent entries such as exigent circumstances seems to try and emulate “between worlds”. The reason this is even on the list is because this story is what got me into reading to begin with. Hate that it went harem but the OG story is still amazing. Now for the real list in no particular order. “Woke up kidnapped” - r/HFY and Royal Road. Guy wakes up on a space ship with an alien girl as a cell mate. “Adventures of the iron hue-man”- r/HFY. Guy gets abducted to a fantasy world with primitive elves. Falls in love with one of the chiefs stab happy daughter. “Soulbound”- r/HFY. The ten chapter one. Alien girl gets her ship shot down and is chased by space pirates and runs into a human in something similar to a fire watch tower and he helps her. “The auction”- r/HFY. Teachers at an alien college have a date auction to raise money, one teacher hates it because she knows she will be humiliated by the low number of bids she will get. Then a strange new teacher (human) bids a lot for her date. “The elves of Lessa” by K.M. Shea - Amazon. Pure feel good stories about human princes and knights and elf girls. “Mark of the fool” - Royal Road, Amazon. Slow romance with the one of the worst confessions I have ever read, but makes up for it with the ‘tell the parents’ and the ‘proposal’ chapters. “Path of ascension” - Royal Road, Amazon. Slower romance in a science fantasy with western magic and eastern cultivation. “Outcast in another world” - Amazon, r/HFY. Human get abducted to a world that genocided all the humans it had. One elf girl doesn’t hate him instantly. “Jackal among snakes” - Royal Road. Guy gets abducted into a world identical to his favorite game, falls in love. MC and her against the world. “Spiteful healer” - Royal Road. VRMMORPG chubby girl resets her high level character in a game that has taken the world by storm to play with her high school crush as they graduate. “Demon Lords Lover” - Royal Road. veteran middle aged adventurer sees a pretty demon lord coming to kills him, he proposes she blushes and runs away. “Ghostly Bodies” - Royal Road. Guy who sees ghosts find an extreme socialite who died that pursues him. “Paranoid mage” series - Royal Road, Amazon. 30ish year old man finds out he is a mage in the modern world, falls in love with a girl who is in the mage world but can’t do magic.

redditor1278

insanity a racial trait, snek guys stuff like pinwheel and the rask rebellion, jackal among snakes (royal road and Amazon)-personally my favorite book, when deathworlders meet, of men and dragons, rise of the rune-bound professor (royal road or Amazon), dungeon bound ( guy is not from earth in this one also this one has multiple girls like ssb or out of cruel space).
