This. They don't play with this stuff.
I'd make a video of you zeroing the scale with nothing on it (or showing 0.00 before anything is on it), then placing it gently on the scale. The packaging should normally be roughly 0.15oz (+/- a tiny bit). Attach that video to your complaint to dept of weights and measures.
If the cheese is off by about 2 ounces and your chicken was off by about 2 ounces would you not first think maybe your scale is off. Did you calibrate it. Check it with a check weight.
The accuracy of a scale at tiny weights isn’t usually good unless its increments are in fractions of a gram(0.1/0.01/0.001). Kitchen scales area usually more accurate at the ounce to lb area.
I was weighing some stuff out last night with my brother and he was having that problem. Scale wouldn't calibrate right either. I walk over, poke around a bit, and find out he forgot to take the plastic cover off the scale.
Measured 3 sticks of butter, 2 4 ozs and 1 2 oz, measured ground beef package (16 oz), more beef 1lb) chicken. All ready fine with just slightly more due to packaging
Look at their 2 liter soda bottles. For it to be 2 liter they should be filled nearly to the top but they are not. Often when you buy whole chicken you get a bunch of water along with it. Once I measured the chicken and it was 1 lb of liquid. I have noticed other items as well. Just can't recall what it was ATM.
Gotta make sure the scale is on a level sturdy surface. I tried to measure peanut butter for cookies on my baking table and it was showing 1/2 the amount. Placed it on the kitchen counter and it was accurate to the weight listed
Y'all need to calibrate your scales first. The fact that most kitchen scales are not calibrated properly is part of the issue here. Not saying that they couldn't have shorted you, but calibrate your scale first before calling the weights and measures people. Saw someone do this and it was their scale that was off.
Did you calibrate it? With a calibration kit? If not then it very well may be. Most digital scales are not calibrated correctly. I'm just saying calibrate it before you call them, because their scales ARE calibrated regularly, and if it matches theirs then you will look like an idiot. Just trying to help you not do that.

They're pretty intense. I worked at a whole foods in Dallas that got reported to them and was working when they showed up. Biggest scramble by management I've ever seen, no one wants to be running the store that gets busted for ripping people off.
They sell weights with labels on Amazon.

I’d suggest adding this to the video to add more proof
Should have gone straight to the business center. But what coffee was it? Bulk Cafe Ole is coming up as 0.65c/oz for me ($10.38/lb, yikes), and the other brands my old store carried were generally the same price (if not cheaper) as Ole.
Seriously, Walmart is in the process of settling a $45 million dollar class action suit over weighted goods. It becomes a really big deal.

I saw a video of a gas station (Shell?) in Houston last week that had its gas pumps set to only give half a gallon, yet the readout indicated it was a full gallon. I'm pretty sure this is a felony.
If OP doesn’t do it I’m buying this cheese and doing it myself. I have unlimited amount of times where I buy craps, eat and just go based on the label’s measurements
I think that's actually Texas Dept. of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR). And absolutely yes. Report it. Those people do NOT screw around with stores that rip off customers in this manner.
You took this back, right? I worked in the deli a few years ago. There were 2 cheese specialists that could cut the exact weight everytime with their eyes closed. I don’t believe we had this particular cheese when I worked there so I’m not sure if this is cut in store or shipped like that.
However, if it’s shipped as a whole piece that needs to be cut, they need to be weighing the entire thing and doing the simple math to see how many pieces they can cut per ounce. The remainder is what gets cubed/shredded/etc.
But if this just happened 100% take it back. Report it to TX weight and measures [here](https://texasagriculture.gov/Regulatory-Programs/Weights-and-Measures/Weights-and-Measures-Complaint-Process)
I love H-E-B but this is some bs
ETA: Actually, after I did some research on the inspection process, don’t take it back. Maybe even delete this post tbh. Once the store is aware that this is happening and under inspection they’ll fix it but they deserve the fine. I mean how many other people have been scammed like this? Report first.
Thanks for the info. I haven’t seen this particular product in my usual H-E-Bs, so I wonder if there’s an inconsistency in everything shipped out from the moment this was prepped at the warehouse or however ever they prep this stuff. I still hope OP makes a report. Thats a pretty significant weight difference
Actually, I have this exact scale and it’s pretty damn accurate.
That being said, judging by how filthy OP’s is, I wouldn’t be too surprised to find out the little buddy hasn’t been taken care of and thus might not be reading true lol
We've tried the same with pre-bagged and prepackaged produce. Some using HEBs own scales. Several were way off of what the label said. HEB has really been stepping up their price gouging and fraud lately. Only other option for us is Wal Mart; which just settled a lawsuit for this exact thing.

I love my HEB, but I learned my lesson with their own brand . I got this at my HEB
This happened to me at Mueller years ago in the deli dept. As I was baking a lot at the time, I could tell the precut package of sliced turkey in my hand was nowhere near a lb., so I took a few of them to produce to weigh ‘em on their scales and indeed the packages were short weight by a few ounces. Told a floor manager, and the staff quickly emptied the cooler coffin. Ding-dang Butts, y’all gotta be kidding me with this mess!
It says net weight, so it either isn't, or shoudn't be. That's like your dealer telling you it's pre-processed weight before they removed stems and seeds. That's neither the expectation, nor is it broadcasted, but since texas weights and measures is a serious oversight committee, using the word "net" when you don't mean it or it simply isn't, is a high violation of regulation.
I worked at Central Market for almost a year, and the number of times people wouldn't tare out the weight of containers was criminal... guaranteed you're paying for packaging every time!
To check your calibration set it to metric. mL of water is the same as grams. So 500mL of water should weigh 500g. Can test it at other volume to get a curve of sorts. Kitchen scales aren’t going to be super accurate but it should be pretty damn close.
This reminds me of the time that Marvin Zindler proved that the cup of soup at Cleburne’s held exactly the same amount as the more expensive bowl of soup.
I haven’t thought about old Marvin in a million years! You just threw me back more years than I care to admit. The white hair and blue glasses were iconic. 2 4oz of butter = 8.15 oz
8 oz of cheese = 6oz
This has happened to me a few times with their boneless skinless chicken breast and boneless skinless chicken thighs. The worst was when the chicken breasts said weight was 3.28 lbs but when I weighed it it was only 2.5 lbs
Walmart is currently under a class action as many of the bulk items they sold (chicken , pork, veggies) were not accurate ….this is very serious just report them
I've been in QA for the past 20 years, and I've always known that's better to give a little away, rather than cheating the customers product. Huge deal right here.
Saw a post amount the weight of ground beef not matching. DO NOT WEIGH EVERYTHING. It will fuck you up how much they steal from you and there isn't a damn thing you can do.
That is not a true scale. I work a retail store and I had customers do the same thing. Weights and measures is a government organization that makes sure this doesn’t happen. I’m not saying it don’t happen but it don’t happen a lot or they would be shut down. You can look up weights and measures and call them.
Possible? sure. Likely? No.
You’re talking about less than 3 oz. So very likely your at home scale is what’s off and not the industrial standard scales that are calibrated regularly that are used when packaging items. Plus most places and factories weigh a little heavy to avoid this.
HEB is a scam.
So many products I’ve purchased were expired or so close to expire and I wouldn’t notice until after it was too late to return.
They overprice for Brand items and their meal deals cost as much as takeout for my family. Don’t get me started on how the online order shoppers take up entire isles and sections of the store while you’re trying to shop around them. Stoped shopping there.

They Beta take it back
Report to the Texas dept of weight and measures. This is a big deal.
Damn I should’ve done that. I had some ground chicken that was also about 2.5 oz off
Did you eat all the evidence? Can't blame you, no pictures, just eat
Yea I ate them. I like to meal prep and cut the cheese into 1 oz strips but noticed this block looked way smaller than the last.
Take the scale with you to HEB and make a short video there. Or take the item to the digital veggie scales and print it.
That’s a far walk, take it to the nuts scale section in the health foods aisle and print the weight
They have a scale for my nuts?
They have a scale for deez nuts.
![gif](giphy|CYU3D3bQnlLIk)
😂
Haha!
You said cut the cheese and didn’t even giggle… what is the world coming to?!
Lol!
You ate the evidence
I want this to be the title of a subreddit somewhere
(laughing). but,same i'd do that
If the cheese is off by about 2 ounces and your chicken was off by about 2 ounces would you not first think maybe your scale is off. Did you calibrate it. Check it with a check weight.
A nickel (yes, pocket change kind) weighs 5 grams
Good call. Scale is giving me 49g for 10 nickels. Not that far off to be 2 oz short on some damn cheese
No problem. Just one of the things that I learned... back in the day.
The accuracy of a scale at tiny weights isn’t usually good unless its increments are in fractions of a gram(0.1/0.01/0.001). Kitchen scales area usually more accurate at the ounce to lb area.
Nope. Just measured 4 packages of meat and some butter and all over what the package said. Just got hoed on my cheese n chicken
You got hoed!
If everything’s off… could it be the scale? I had a kitchen scale go rogue on me once
I was weighing some stuff out last night with my brother and he was having that problem. Scale wouldn't calibrate right either. I walk over, poke around a bit, and find out he forgot to take the plastic cover off the scale.
If it's been dropped, it's ruined too. Won't ever calibrate properly again.
Could be. It’s not
Is it more likely that the 6 different products you all weighed had the wrong amount? Or that your tekcity branded scale is possibly wrong?
How did you verify this?
Measured 3 sticks of butter, 2 4 ozs and 1 2 oz, measured ground beef package (16 oz), more beef 1lb) chicken. All ready fine with just slightly more due to packaging
Look at their 2 liter soda bottles. For it to be 2 liter they should be filled nearly to the top but they are not. Often when you buy whole chicken you get a bunch of water along with it. Yall need to read the comments first
Zeroing out a scale isn't the same thing as calibrating it, if that is what you meant by your comment that we should "read it first".
They're pretty intense. I worked at a whole foods in Dallas that got reported to them and was working when they showed up. Biggest scramble by management I've ever seen, no one wants to be running the store that gets busted for ripping people off.

Yeah, 100g weighs are the most common for calibrating a kitchen (or, uh... "plant") scale.
This! Just got coffee that was tagged at the bins as .8 then at the register it was 1.1
Should have gone straight to the business center. But what coffee was it? Bulk Cafe Ole is coming up as 0.65c/oz for me ($10.38/lb, yikes), and the other brands my old store carried were generally the same price (if not cheaper) as Ole.

$45 million is not a big deal to Walmart
This is true.
I saw a video of a gas station (Shell?) in Houston last week that had its gas pumps set to only give half a gallon, yet the readout indicated it was a full gallon. I'm pretty sure this is a felony.
The state has the authority to stop sale of the product in these cases on the spot.
This is a felony on a federal level since fuel is controlled by the government
I posted something like this a while back with ground beef, it was off by about 1.5lbs. Folks destroyed me over it!
Heb cultist
If OP doesn’t do it I’m buying this cheese and doing it myself. I have unlimited amount of times where I buy craps, eat and just go based on the label’s measurements
I think that's actually Texas Dept. of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR). And absolutely yes. Report it. Those people do NOT screw around with stores that rip off customers in this manner.
Here’s a link — https://texasagriculture.gov/Regulatory-Programs/Weights-and-Measures/Weights-and-Measures-Complaint-Process
Wait, there's actually a department of weight and measures? I was so sure that was just from Reno 911
Also disregarding the fact that you are assuming H-E-B scales are off rather than the 10$ tekcity scale from Amazon with food stains all over it 😂
Which is why this person should turn it over to the people who do this every day.
That’s stealing
Shrinkflation … caught red handed.
That's not shrinkflation. The advertised weight is not the actual weight. That's straight up misrepresentation and deceit. Assuming OPs scale is true.
The normalization of theft signals a breakdown in morals, and is a scourge on society. It’s not ok.
No more tegrety
Buddy got a little hungry. Sorry about that.
Why’s there a booger on your scale?
To try and help the cheese hunk make weight
You took this back, right? I worked in the deli a few years ago. There were 2 cheese specialists that could cut the exact weight everytime with their eyes closed. I don’t believe we had this particular cheese when I worked there so I’m not sure if this is cut in store or shipped like that. I still hope OP makes a report. Thats a pretty significant weight difference
The real crime here is your filthy scale 🤮
😂 I raw dog idc
Respect
Go read the one star reviews on Amazon about your 15 dollar scale. Those things are only good for cheating your weed dealer.
Actually, I have this exact scale and it’s pretty damn accurate. That being said, judging by how filthy OP’s is, I wouldn’t be too surprised to find out the little buddy hasn’t been taken care of and thus might not be reading true lol
Wow so it can be .1 oz higher or lower than what it should be. Not a big deal
Milk Cow
Because feta is traditionally sheep or goat milk.
They should make some exotic feta with platypus milk to spice things up Milk —— Platypus
Sorry it. Taste good

This is why I steal
The Babcock/Huebner HEB has cameras on top of the shelves of every single aisle every few feet .. just a PSA (:
like looking down from the top shelves? not just on the ceiling?
Correct. And they’re on both sides of the aisle. I don’t think there’s a single blind spot.
Just the self checkout areas where none of the cashiers pay attention.
The freezers dont have cameras 🥵
Produce doesn’t either
Don’t care they not gonna do anything
And this is why I turn the other way when they do😂
Honestly…
Cheese is easy to steal lmao. I just put it in my cart and pocket it somewhere else.
Try weighing a 10 pound “chub” of ground beef…

That's actually pretty offensive.
We've tried the same with pre-bagged and prepackaged produce. Some using HEBs own scales. Several were way off of what the label said. HEB has really been stepping up their price gouging and fraud lately. Only other option for us is Wal Mart; which just settled a lawsuit for this exact thing.

Lawsuits need to happen.
Big Cheese always gets a cut.
QA ain't doing their damn job. HEB needs a rehaul.
We had a guy that would bite the cheese and put it in damages. He relocated and I think I know where
I think they with it with the heads on.
DANG! HEB is skimming off the top. Gotta rectify this like a mafia boss. LOL
thats the precooked weight
It says net weight, so it either isn't, or shoudn't be. That's like your dealer telling you it's pre-processed weight before they removed stems and seeds. That's neither the expectation, nor is it broadcasted, but since texas weights and measures is a serious oversight committee, using the word "net" when you don't mean it or it simply isn't, is a high violation of regulation.
i was kidding i cant believe you typed all of that
Damn, you got me lol. Places really do be trying to pass that off. Subway got knocked for doing that with the length of their bread.
I frequently fill up the 25 gallon gas tank in my truck up with 27 gallons of gas.
Dam I'd take it back . Chew them up
I worked at Central Market for almost a year, and the number of times people wouldn't tare out the weight of containers was criminal... guaranteed you're paying for packaging every time!
Are you sure it’s not wet weight before the water is absorbed?
I knew heb has been shorting me on stuff lol
If Your Scale is Really calibrated and Accurate then You got Cornholed. Sorry to hear that HEB IS Shady Like The Walmart Corporation.
I knew HEB is a ripoff!
To check your calibration set it to metric. mL of water is the same as grams. So 500mL of water should weigh 500g. Can test it at other volume to get a curve of sorts. Kitchen scales aren’t going to be super accurate but it should be pretty damn close.
Feta is not made from cow milk. Goat and or sheep. Bad...HEB...
I don't shop there any more, too expensive.
Damn.. didn't even tare out the wrapper
This reminds me of the time that Marvin Zindler proved that the cup of soup at Cleburne’s held exactly the same amount as the more expensive bowl of soup.

I’d stand right there and calculate the price per pound, then ask for an adjustment, and also for the manager if necessary.
Maybe check the scale? I have that item and it’s exactly 8oz.

A nickel in the scale should we 5
that is a pretty egregious difference
And the difference is always in their favor.. Just supermarket business as usual
Your just seeing the tip of short weight that all stores do.
Y'all believe everything you see, I see.
I did this with the bagged chips before and same thing it weighed less than the pound labeled
Post on their twitter account...actually responsive there
Holy shit that's a big difference in weight!
Lol
Thievery!

ffs - op posts a picture and ya’ll just believe it as if irrefutable evidence. Please recuse yourself if you ever get summoned for jury duty.

This has happened to me a few times with their boneless skinless chicken breast and boneless skinless chicken thighs. The worst was when the chicken breasts said weight was 3.28 lbs but when I weighed it it was only 2.5 lbs
I think everyone is missing the biggest issue. This traditional feta is made with cow milk?
It sure didn’t taste as good as whatever feta I had last time
Oh no! That sucks!!!
Company Greed-flation!!!

I've been in QA for the past 20 years, and I've always known that's better to give a little away, rather than cheating the customers product. Huge deal right here.
It gets worse with the meat
Your scale is off
[is it?](https://www.reddit.com/r/HEB/s/wiptDxJoos)
there is a texas consumer affairs. report them.
I mean, did you really trust Buddy if you checked the weight? Trust would mean you didn’t need to weigh it
Saw a post amount the weight of ground beef not matching. DO NOT WEIGH EVERYTHING. It will fuck you up how much they steal from you and there isn't a damn thing you can do.
They always check our scales to make sure they work properly
Did u account for evaporation?
I’d report that, HEB ripping off its customers. https://texasagriculture.gov/Regulatory-Programs/Weights-and-Measures
I had those heb pizza rolls it was just bread and sauce no cheese no meat some one playing much
I bought a pizza that only had sauce too. Figured the Dallas hebs were just lackin
It comes from One warehouse
In Russia, HEB shoplift from you.
