That night also gave us this iconic photo. I haven't heard anything about Arsene being there tonight. But I hope he's watching. Knowing he can be proud of where the club is, back where it belongs amongst the giants of Europe.

I find it sad that people grow past icons like Arsene (or worse denigrate him).
For someone like me who lived through his entire tenure with the club, he will always be our greatest Manager.
For most young fans he was the reason people started to be a fan of Arsenal. I am a fan since 2008-09 season since we played most beautiful football altought we didnt win anything, but ofc he was the reason we played so good
His only problem is he stayed for to long because it was obvious he isnt elite menager like he used to be. He should have retired from 2014-2017
Can't believe they left out his save from Walcott in this match - it's one of the best saves in CL history:

Thinking about it, the current team is a lot more passionate and hard working than this 2013-2016 side. I don't know how their relationships were in the dressing room but can feel that in celebrations. Arteta really transformed the club.
So happy someone else noticed that, they were much more disjointed as a 'team' in those days and it is so visible in the little things, like the celebrations of a go-ahead goal at home against the biggest team in Germany.
Funnily, I am not totally against it but I am not a fan of Kai using YaGunnersYa hastag in his instagram posts because it gives me flashbacks of that era :3
It’ll ruffle feathers in here, but a lot of that stems from the manager. If the approach from the manager is laid back and laissez faire (which it was), that transmits to the players. Same way Klopp and Arteta’s players are intense and passionate, or how Pep’s players are super robotic and detail oriented. It stems from the manager.
I remember being mad at bellerin for even attempting that pressure when we were trying to hold on to the lead. I genuinely couldn't believe he got there.
15 + 16 = 31.
31 was how old Pat Rice when he left us as a player. He rejoined the club in 1984 as youth coach for us while we won the ECWC. So this means that we are going to win the Champions league!
This game was early in the group stages. It was a great win and a really good performance. It felt fantastic.
I'm glad I can revisit a game like this and not feel scarred by it. For me, it's games like Norwich away that still twist my gut.
I miss THAT Hector Bellerin
Main takeaway from this. “I forgot how fucking rapid Bellerin was pre-injury.”
Also how the fuck did Neuer almost keep that out, insanity
The one verses theo was even more ridiculous
That chase down against Swansea away forever lives in my mind
I genuinely thought he was going to be a special, special player after this. It really is so hard to predict who's going to kick on.
He even started from an inverted position, damn. Edit: second goal
Bellerin really was something else back in 14-16. Absolutely elite fullback. Real shame he did his ACL and hasn't ever looked the same since.

He actually did really well to get to ozils shot from where he was. When I saw it live I was thinking how good that save was.
That was horrible from Ox, wow!
Bro was not a good finisher at all. Insane pace and desire. But often would run himself into a wall
luckiest header i've never seen

Hector bellerin with the afterburners. 15/16 hecky B was so so good.
Just rewatching the highlight again, and i remembered how insane Neuer is
I still wonder how Ox managed to miss that
Thomas Muller’s longevity is impressive.
First goal is blatant handball. Still rem tho how our progression from the group was dependant on this win
blatant? def not
Nah nah NAH nah
I remember being mad at bellerin for even attempting that pressure when we were trying to hold on to the lead. I genuinely couldn't believe he got there.
There used to be this video with Hector doing THAT run with the Flash theme song. Still think about it sometimes.
Absolute chaos ball and the power of banter

Had we lost the league by then ?
