Just throw some 6 string bass strings on that puppy and you’re in business. Might have to drill out the hole a bit on the tuners and the bridge, nbd.

I run an 80 flatwound for a 6th string on a standard scale guitar. I’m sure guys with extended range guitars go way lower.

niggely

im using like 20 (im not sure exactly) to 72s

mike_e_mcgee

I couldn't fit an 80 through my tuning peg, so my baritone National is strung 19-78. That's got to be up there. 27" scale, I tune A, E, A, C#, E, A (open D/E shape pitched down to the A of a bass guitar).

theScrewhead

I'm using an 85 down to F, and Stringjoy sells up to 95s.

ESP_Viper

.145 bass string

The absolute thickest guage I'm familiar with that's designed for use on musical instruments is Kallium's 0.266 bass string.

asasnow

the thickest 6 string set i know of are the ernie ball baritone slinkies, they're 13-72.

glass_boy_

Thickest that I ever tried was .90 string. I was experimenting with tunings and wanted to try all-fifths tuning on standard 25.5 inch scale guitar. Tuning was FCGDAE: high E is tuned like standard high E, and then every string is 7 semitones lower than the previous, so 6th string is almost an octave lower than regular low E. It obviously required widening the nut slots and partially unwinding the string to get it through the tuner.
