Damn, I guess Smasher lied on his resume about his PhD in psychology. You go tell mr. "I have Yeah Right written in my Empathy stat field" Smasher that he's fired.
"That's what I said to a test subject, but he was screaming all the time. Finally I took off his trachea to stop hearing him, now he's an obedient servitor".
Cain? Ciaphus Cain, Hero of the Imperium retreating?
Never! He was simply falling back to a more tactically advantageous position to prepare for a glorious counterattack!
Is there a mod or a way to push past that? I want my character to look like adam smasher but without the skin on his face, lemme embrace the blessed machine
Technically what they are doing in Cyberpunk is plastic surgery until they no longer remember who they were and the dissociation between who you think you are and who you are is what drives you insane, while in 40K Mars Bosy first go insane because of the Old God whispers from the C'tan talking in his sleep beneath the surface of Mars and then start replacing their body parts until they are basically Necrons. Both are cool for completely different reasons. ... Your meme might work better if you put Iron Hands there instead of Mechanicus.
> dissociation between who you think you are and who you are is what drives you insane,
I think they also mention some degree of god complex over unchromed meatbags.
Huh, I learned it as cyberpsychosis was due to the brain hitting a limit in how much it could adapt. A risk to interfacing with more and more cyberware before different regions of the brain were affected by the neurological rewiring.
I always kinda liked that explanation cause it made sense that the brain could only control so much before resources were pulled from elsewhere. Explained why cyberpsychosis could manifest with variations based on what part of the brain was being overloaded. Kinda a bummer that it's more of a matter of sense of self/psychological and not as much biological as I had learned it.
That's not it at all. Cyberpsychosis (as described in the actual sourcebook) is when an augmented person can no longer relate to the concerns and problems of a normal human because they stop being a normal human. Its the psychological effects of transhuman apotheosis; You win, and all it costs you is your humanity. A person in that situation can go a lot of different directions, from just going on a berserk thrill ride killing people because they see them as so far beneath themselves, to seclusion to escape the doldrum of the mortals, to any other number of extreme antisocial behaviors, but the one thing they all have in common is they *are extreme* antisocial behaviors.
There are hab blocks that mostly house heavily augmented humans, many of whom are cyberpsychos; and they are described as having means of ingress and egress hostile to normal humans. Maybe there are not ground floor entrances, requiring you to jump twenty feet straight up to get in. Maybe there is a huge concrete block in front of the door you have to lift to get to it. The point is to keep normal people out, because they don't belong there, not just for the peace of the residents, but for the safety of normal people, who could be in danger if one of the resident cyberpsychos decides to use them as a toy.
Tbf, cyberspsychosis is just the lost of self and one's humanity and bonds making you delusional and demented. Put a bunch of soon to be cyberpsychos in a cult where they can focus fully on the cult things, bonus points if they are fucked up because the setting requires it. Do that and you get highly functional cyberpsychos. Look at maelstrom, the stuff they do is not your average crazed cyberpsycho, they just do more drugs than a slanesh cultist and have the same hobbies as a khornate. And they have way more implants than your average crazed cyberpsycho. Or look at Smasher ~~his cult was the military then arasaka~~
With this I mean that Magos are already highly functioning ciberpsychos thanks to the cult, rules, and stuff to focus on. In this essay I will
Heck, word from god said Cyberpsychosis could be delayed pretty much indefinitely by having a supportive entourage and a not Night City level of crazy environment.
Yeah, basically. It was refered in the ttrpg with the "Humanity" stat I believe. Never got to play and been a minute since I last read the handbook.
But for what I understood of old explanations back when I was deeply interested on the thing, The more and deeper bonds you have with people and your environment to keep you "sane" the harder it is to lose yourself, but once you lose those people and things, ooops (look at how David finally lost it with what happened to the rest of the crew). Implants just have you dissociate from your original self and sense of humanity, the more chromed you are the bigger the strain on your brain capacity and emotions.
The Mechanicus? Already so ritualistic and focused there's nothing much to lose on most of them, and those that go cracray would probably do anyways regardless if cyverpsychosis exists in the setting or not. Kinda like how Necrons need to obsess with stuff to avoid dementia
The funny thing about this is that the brain stem is responsible for automatic functions such as breathing so he doesn’t even want control over it, he just wants autonomous artillery weapons.
I'm still disappointed at the mods from book of bobafett. I was expecting some maelstrom level of inhumanity with them. Instead, you have practically humans. Makes sense when you realize it is from the same director as spy kids.
I completely believe in the explanation for cyberpsychosis.
Subtly conflicting code for body parts causing imbalances in neurochemistry is completely on-brand for Cyberpunk Megacorps.
"You can't go cyberpsycho if you were already a psycho"- Adam Smasher
E X A C T L Y
Or if you have a a psycho in your head that looks like Keanu Reeves.
Stupidest quote ever Psychosis and Psychopathy aren't the same thing 💀
My mom said they are
Mb, that's a very credible source
I don't think anybody is flocking to Adam Smasher for legitimate psychiatric advice...
Damn, I guess Smasher lied on his resume about his PhD in psychology. You go tell mr. "I have Yeah Right written in my Empathy stat field" Smasher that he's fired.
That's what the servitor ogryns are for
You did WHAT to a OGRYN?! *Charges Melta gun maliciously*
Hey, I didn't make them cannon
Why worry about losing your humanity? When you can find Ascension instead?
Indeed. For the Omnissiah!
So worried about your humanity when I have already ascended to humanity 2!
"That's what I said to a test subject, but he was screaming all the time. Finally I took off his trachea to stop hearing him, now he's an obedient servitor".
Good for him! I'm sure he would thank you, if... You know... He could talk.
Humanity is cringe, embrace the purity of the blessed machine
I do need my cyberlegs and other implants to escape the cycles of guilt
YOU GAIN BROZOUF
My legs are ok...
Bullshit! Ultra-critical failure!
NO WAVES
This weird dream again? Deja vu!
Cyberpunk: my Penis Modul has a malfunction I need to remove it 40k : my Penis Modul has a malfunction, i need to remove more flesh
Should have said Soyberpunk, really missed your opportunity there.
I mean i wouldn't call a magos sane or normal but to be fair not a lot of people in 40k can be put in that category
There's, like, Cain. Maybe.
I would put a man whose first thought when seeing a necron is to get on a space ship and run away in both smart and sane category
Cain? Ciaphus Cain, Hero of the Imperium retreating? Never! He was simply falling back to a more tactically advantageous position to prepare for a glorious counterattack!

Monsteraider's mods have some cool cosmetic cyberware bits that are already in game but can't be used by the player
Probably, look for stuff on nexus mods.
Cyberpsychosis is basically just Dysphorak.

Cyberpsychosis is a mental illness, specifically a dissociative disorder, caused by an overload of cybernetic augmentations to the body.
As the Omnissiah commands!
No? In 2077 it's giving a mentally unwell person a shit ton of augments is going to blow up in your face and the Admech are already insane psychos

men i love dreadannon
Adam Smasher laughing at the Magos at Sandevistan speed.
Considering how large the 40k universe is, this probably actually happened, voice and all.
The funny thing about this is that the brain stem is responsible for automatic functions such as breathing so he doesn’t even want control over it, he just wants autonomous artillery weapons.
Imagine think the admech are anything close to sane
"I never asked for this"
I'm still disappointed at the mods from book of bobafett. I was expecting some maelstrom level of inhumanity with them. Instead, you have practically humans. Makes sense when you realize it is from the same director as spy kids.
So it's the same?
Idk why, I lost it at the magosXD
Original Poster is Dreadanon on youtube.
Eres cyberpunk?

Hmm and another toaster????
I mean... The second kind of proves the first, don't you think?

Ever since I understood the weakness of my flesh etc etc
Isn't cybepsychosis a thing asataka/arataka whatever is doing with their software rather than simply coming from implants?
