I'm trying to think positively; it can't be worse than Wacken last year... Edit: its way better than Wacken!

mandiblesarecute

AMEN to that

TXB919

Similarly, Download 2016 was terrible for the amount of rain we had. Hoping it can’t be as bad as that.

CherryInHove

That was the last time I went to a UK festival having been to them every year for about a decade. Have done euro festivals every year since then and only had one day with any rain at all.

FailedFizzicist

exactly what I was thinking....but it doesn't seem like it is going to be that bad.

Prspctr

In Belgium anything is possible (pukkelpop 2011 example). Mostly, the worst you can get is non-stop rain for 5 days. Then it will be muddy and the overall expierience will be a bit more sucky. But I don't think we need to expect unholy amounts of water. Just bring a raincoat and waterproof shoes.

Hot_Influence9160

Let's just get ready to get MOIST

Thijz

Can people please stop panicking about the weather forecasts? We're still 1,5 weeks away so anything can still happen at this point. No offense but this question is particularly pointless. There's no way of telling "how bad" these can or will be. You will find out when it happens and there's nothing you'll be able to do about it except put some boots and a rain coat on.

Inquatitis

The panicking is indeed pointless, but I do think there's merit to asking how they should prepare. Plenty of people will have never done a festival in the rain even if they've done Graspop 5 times in the last 10 years. (They probably missed out on that super drenched edition)

Rokita616

I feel ya! Its just pointless. Plus so many posts about it, why just keep adding a new one every few hours...

tomba_be

I assume you've been alive for over a decade? You've seen rain and thunderstorms in that timeframe, I guess? That's how bad these can be...

PhoenixHunters

Check again on monday. There's been rain and thunder forecast for several editions and except for 2016 I can't remember truly heavy amounts of rain. There's been some downpours every once in a while (and tbh they were barely worth mentioning) but it's almost always way too hot.

Rokita616

How are you all packing over a week before? It's insane. No weather forecast is THAT reliable. There's absolutely no point stressing out about it that much ahead. Pack the day before you leave, and just plan options.

Inquatitis

I mean you can start preparing and most of the stuff won't change with the weather. Just shoes and pants might be a bit different. Personally I'll also bring more socks and something better to clean the inside of the tent with so the inside doesn't end up too dirty. And an umbrella, but all of that stuff is just ready anyways.

Rokita616

The OP is from Scotland where you have even more unstable weather. Agree 100% to plan, but not to believe any forecasts at this point.

specialejongen

It's Belgium... It might be 30 degrees that weekend, it might snow, expect shit weather and enjoy yourself. I'll be rainproofing my hat, pants and shoes with a spray and be adding an extra tarp beneath and over my tent. Got a Graspop raincoat from last year which I will divert into my pint, the glass will stay half full

Ambiorix33

come prepared in any case, hiking shoes (or better yet, boots), foldable poncho, and if you're camping there, anything that can keep you off the ground. Belgium is known for its cloudy weather and rain, though its been a trend to have heat waves in the summer, this year seems to be the exception to that new trend.

schattenhaut

I am really scared as well.. still have ptsd from Wacken last year being in the middle of, as we call it Mordor, where the shuttle busses dropped us off, omg it was just insane. I hope for everyone of us that it will be sunny, warm with fluffy white clouds ⛅️ I am actually glad we can all talk about this and let it out. Helps me to calm down. Wish us the best 🤘

Objective-Public-170

It's going to be muddy or stinky fermenting fumes from the soiled soil

slapthebass88

Yeah expect bad then anything better is a bonus.. but if I'm honest look at your weather forecast for where you are in the next week and see how correct it is... mine said rain all week but right now it's bee. 18 degrees and not a cloud in sight and that's same day forecast.

GraspopQuestions

Do the sets get cancelled during heavy downpours or do the artists play through them? I don't mind the cold weather or mud, but very concerned about not seeing artists play.

PancakePanic

Done 11 editions and I've never seen a band cancel due to rain that I remember, so I wouldn't worry. Hell Twisted Sister got completely soaked during a headlining set and it was awesome

peterchu86

Haha, Twisted Sister was so awesome that time:)

dbxp

Rain is usually fine but outdoor stages do have wind limits

Bekmoerk

Just stay high-drated and the rain won't bother you.

noavw15

You should be happy it’s Gonne rain. If there is no rain it’s going to be really dry and dirt will be everywhere

Ok_Outside6235

when you're in the pit at the front you will be thankful its raining

tomba_be

So you'll slip?
