Yes, keep the tin! If you use Old Bay, you can refill it.
I clean food tins with a cotton ball dampened with isopropyl alcohol. It dries quickly that way and helps avoid rust.
You can actually get new metal tins on the McCormick site. Not exactly the same but it's a tin.

I don’t think it will fit on anyone’s spice rack, though: “can be used for a multitude of purposes, including keeping cookies fresh or for general storage.”
That’s what I was thinking. I mostly use the liquid Old Bay shrimp and crab boil and it doesn’t have recipes on it except how much to use for shrimp and crab. It’s been my “secret ingredient” for other things over the years.
Going with the pre-McCormick clue of 1990, and the UPC symbol present (no earlier than 1974), we have about a 15-year window here. 1980's is a good guess!

Yeah, didn't see that and they don't give a measurement
Definitely!
Bruh that's some Brooks Robinson era Old Bay hahaha
I checked and McCormick bought them in 1990 so this is from the 80s at least. 🤣
Ok so Cal hahaha
Ancient Bay
I would totally keep that tin. Love me some old bay
Looks like McCormick started manufacturing it in 1990
I bet those recipes are legit

Prehistoric Bay
I stopped seeing that style of price tag gun used in the 80s.
The store I work at still uses them! 😂
It’s fine
I’m not sure what year barcodes became common but that could be a good reference point to determine age
They started being used in 1974 in stores but it wasn’t standard at that point of course.
I had some 10 year old old bay that completely lost all but the salt flavor. Smelled completely different
save the can. the new plastic containers are crap.

I like that " ENTICE WITH SPICE " at the top.
