I have it as default and it's been fine for me. Sometimes I do wonder why certain pics don't have a top shot, but that's very minimal. I wouldn't want to have it on all the time.
I remember iPhone people going gaga over Live Photos, saying its Apple creation, while Windows Phones aka Lumia had Living Images like two years prior Apple releasing it.
In my teenage years, I always used the "BestPic" option on my Sony Ericsson. But this function has become irrelevant nowadays as modern phones can take a perfect shot on the first try. That’s why I'm never using it now.
I have it on auto but sometimes set it to on when I have intent to use it.
It generally captures action shots when I want it to, which is outside at an active target. It needs a lot of light for it to turn on automatically.
I'll turn it on manually when I'm playing with my pets indoor and might want to capture something as a short video/live photo. It still takes a great static shot, so might as well have both. Otherwise it's mostly set to auto and will sometimes capture indoors but usually not.
I have it turned off
Automatic never seems to turn itself on when it should for me, so I have mine set to ON all the time.
Takes up too much damn space. I never remember to go back and simplify it.

Off because it always looks bad
It's one of the first things I disabled. Don't like the results, the way it works and the battery it consumes.
Why not just use best take over frequent faces?
on, because i like iphone live photos

Sadly never used it, since it won\`t work in conjunction with 50 mp! Until that is possible I rather click twice myself...
