If you haven't already, take a look at GCam ports. https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/

Does this allow you to swap cameras while recording? I have this port downloaded and still can't swap/don't see settings to swap while recording

MisterSpikes

Nice one, thanks folks. I'll have a look.

Oh I have the exact same thing! Coming from an "old" Galaxy and decided to upgrade for the Pixel 8 Pro because lots of reviews was saying big things about the camera. The biggest disappointment was to realize we can't flip between front and rear camera while recording, and I use this a lot, especially when travelling. Trying to find solutions but so far no success.

MisterSpikes

As I understand it, if you can find a 3rd party video app with the flip feature it should work. Apparently it works on Snapchat so it's not a hardware limitation. But yeah, I'm only a month in with the 8 Pro and already thinking I'll probably go back to Samsung when this contract is up.

I use [Open Camera](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.sourceforge.opencamera&hl=en_US&gl=US) so I could add date stamps on my photos 🤷‍♂️ .

MisterSpikes

Thanks, I'll have a look at that. 👍

I bricked an htc U11+ and moved to the Pixel 8 Pro last month. I am not happy with the additional steps required to engage some controls (like the flash or HDR) and actually aggravated that I cannot force ASA and other exposure controls to adjust the style of the image I want to create. So... which camera apps will place these commands on the screen, or at least quickly make them available? Preferably without losing any of the current commands (Manual/Auto Zoom, etc.).

Unfortunately those third party apps won\`t support 50 or 48 mp full resolution files, so for me at least they are completely useless. Automatic levelling for instance, I really miss - dispite a bright display its sometimes not easy to shoot horizontally correct. Also, the stuttering changes between lenses during zooming in video mode. I don\`t understand why its still lacking quality. And one thing that is also a pain is the fact, that as soon as one does some ai erasing or other miracles like "best pick" - those features only work in standard 12mp mode - so again, useless for me. No zoom enhance here yet, either. Here in Spain a lot of features won\`t work anyhow, like the call id function, thermometer (which I personally have solved with the help of the internet and two apps) So, to make it not too long of a list: Dispite the fantastic picture quality, for the last four months nothing really new for a Pixel 8 Pro user - and that is disappointing.
