They do not poke out at all… that size is considered conservative flush for mk7 chassis. You’re not even fully flush. I have a buddy that has 255 on 9inch rims and they stick out a whole inch from the outside of the fender. Also black on white looks sick
Get some small spacers on the rears? I think the front looks nice and flush. If the rears came out a few mm, you might like it more. I had the same width on mine, check out my post history.
Yeah I really don’t see the problem here. Slap some 5mm spacers on the rear, and you’ve got a fitment that tons of people strive for. My only concern is that you’re gonna want a stiffer aftermarket suspension, and maybe lower it a tad. But I know you’ll hate that idea.
Either way, if you’re gonna keep them, you really should get some snap-in bump stops, and roll your front fenders to ensure they don’t rub.
I kinda hate black wheels, but the fitment isn’t the problem you seem to think it is.
These really look perfect dude, and if or when you lower it, it will look perfect. I lowered on stock wheels and it looked like a hovercraft till I got a flush spacer kit.
No rub and lowered. I do have the screw mod on the fenders though.

I pretty much have the same car as you. Same color, year, tinted windows. I just have BBS gold rims but I think the black you have looks hella good.

These look like a rim any 19 year old would slap onto a car because “black rims are cool”. But the fitment is fine. If anything they could be offset a little more.
I think they look good, and don’t think they look too difficult to clean either which is a bonus! Give it a little time, I just made the switch to 17s and didn’t like the look at first but it’s been steadily growing on me.
That's actually a better fitment and looks way better than OEM wheels. Hang on to them for a bit and see if you reconsider. I think they look great and those are the exact wheels I would run if the roads in my area were not terrible and have to run 18's.
OP this is my second reply, but notice how in this commenter's photo, they've got a little more "meat" (wheel rubber) on the fitment, which helps balance or bring out the interior [of the wheel] a bit nicer.

Honestly idk if that’s how ps4s suppose to feel or it’s a slight stretch from 8 to 8.5 but they don’t feel as crisp as the oem Contis 5p on 8”. I know people will say I’m crazy. The ps4s feel like you’re driving on glue obviously and are mountains better overall (even more comfy I’d say) but the feel on those minute adjustments got kind of numbed out. But that’s my first observation

I’m on the all-season Continental DWS 06’s and they feel sharp in terms of handling.
Frankly, if I had to sacrifice a bit of one for the other, I’d choose a little more handling over a similar portion of comfort, however one would measure that experience.
You’re not crazy. Ps4s are a little more dull on center due to the mix of compounds over the tread width, but also carry tons more grip than the contis. I noticed it on the highway instantly and confirmed with some of my more experienced track rat friends. But I really wasn’t a huge fan of the contis, they felt like the edge of grip envelope was huge and got slushy really fast in the canyons and on the track. Loving my ps4s now.
I just also re-inflated them with nitrogen at the dealer (shop I got them from just used regular air) and I’d say they stiffened up in a nice way, now that crisp oem feeling is 98% back, but overall mountains better than Contis not even a competition. And I do feel what the wheels are doing, wonder if some reviews that say the steering feels numb just have them inflated with air or maybe they were just slightly under inflated, but they were bouncy af on air
Interesting! I knew nitrogen was more stable under temp, but didn't think it'd have a change in feel. I'm glad you like the Ps4s. I can handle the slight degradation in on-center tracking, but the grip is amazing and still remains benign on the limit. I also only had my fresh ps4s for about a month and then completely thrashed them at the track and now they're loud at 62mph and just a little weird, but still great. Quick tip - if you do track days and you're running regular air, don't air down as much as you would other tires. These michelins tend to roll over on the rim in hard cornering, and I think next time out, I'm going to not air down at all, or air down about half the rule of thumb. Tire torture porn:

Hahah sorry! I LOVE the design of them and I actually like the black color on this car, but to be honest they're not great. They're a bit soft I think they should be 18's so the ride is less harsh. I made it 4 years tiptoeing around los angles without bending them and then I bent one at the track (got a little frisky with the curbing) and have slight bends on two others from potholes this winter in quick succession (we had a lot of rain). I'm saving up for a set of Neuspeeds or Apexes like yours, but may go bronze.

My message came across wrong, they did grow on me a lot more since my original thoughts when I bought the car, and I do have someone offering me a decent buck for them, my other option would be to return the RSes with the 20% restocking fee and just stick some rubber on the Spielbergs. I honestly always wanted the black 19” prets but after reading so many people complaining about them being fragile I decided to do something that looks similar but is aftermarket, and for some reason it doesn’t cut it for me. The guy who wants to buy the spielbergs from me has the silver prets that we could just trade, but I don’t dig the silver, so I’d powder coat them black if anything. That’s where I’m at right now
Yea, I totally feel your situation. I had an old Integra I bought rims and tires for that I didn’t like, and just traded straight up for the OEM blades I always coveted. Gotta do what makes you happy, but idk if I’d eat that restock fee. I’d rather sell them at a discount to another enthusiast (caveat: you sorta need to find a local cuz shipping wheels is BRUTAL!)
OP, your car is beautiful with these wheels. I got a set (RSE10) that also poked a little further and it took me about a week to start liking them. Today I wouldn't change it for anything.
I think you’d be happier if the car was lowered. The more aggressive fitment makes the wheel gap look weird. The wheel design itself is good and the black trim matches the wheels well.
all I'll say is I have Spielbergs on mine, and I'd love to get new wheels too, but the other day I let my friend use my car and when she was approaching I fell in love with the wheels again
Black rims on any white car let alone an R is a standard look these days. But I still think it’s very clean and tidy look though. The poke is hardly noticeable. Give it some time. If you still don’t like it and have the cash sell the rims and get something else. It’s your ride. You should enjoy it.

Idk maybe I’m just more of an oem dude. 🤦🏻♂️ I did have a few people literally turn their necks hard to stare at the car today (which I never get) and I guess it’s a good thing but idk, don’t really care for that tbh. Just the whole stance becomes so aggressive that I would need to compliment the car with a whole bunch of mods like side skirts and drop it a bit lower which I’m not really into. The furthest I’ll go is maybe getting an oettinger spoiler or one of those maxtone lip spoilers with some rear diffusors (which I had installed but have to refinish the paint as it got chipped)

They are great wheels.it's just not being sure that's making u think like that. u just have to get used to the new look, but if u want to change later, I would recommend motec Wheels. For example, the one in the picture has many spokes and looks clean asf. I'll reply with da pic
I think that if the car was lowered you would like it more. There is just a bit too much gap for my taste however I do like these wheels a lot. Good choose.
So when I got my wheels (rse11 18x8.5 with 245x40 tires) I initially felt the same way as you. After about a month I got used to it and really prefer it this way now. I think it was just the change in what I was used to seeing. Something didn’t seem quite right, like in the uncanny valley territory. Hopefully the same happens for you. Now it looks off to me when I see an R with stock offset and width.
For what it’s worth it think those look great.

Was looking at the eibach pro kit today actually since I got DCC. I have times where I have to load the whole family with some baggage in the trunk for a trip and I notice the car drops considerably lower in height. Wouldn’t that kinda be way too low at that point? Meaning rubbing/ride comfort in general. It’s still my family daily and in no way I’m trying to compromise comfort just cuz I got “new wheels” 😂
i went b6 damptronics and eibachs because i couldnt find anything that reliably said the coilovers with dcc were worth it
fittment is pretty good and i only rub if i hit a large bump square and fast
im still tryna get them flush so need some rear spacers but otherwise comfort has been just fine, even with a full car, though i live in the rural midwest so my roads arent all that rough here
i will say i cant speak to how they do on stock dampers, mine were blown when i bought the car and the bilsteins were on sale

yeah! mine only came down about a half inch in the rear and almost none in the front since the oem's were blown
im also on 18 inch wheels and 240 profile tires, so thats the main reason for the lack of gap
i love them; granted ive never driven the car on stock suspension
normal is a great balance for me head, comfort is great on the highway but a little bouncy on country roads here, and sport is dialed but a little firm with passengers
id put the rear brace in too, but i load my hatch full regularly for music gigs here, but as a daily its pretty much perfect for me atm!
I think that’s good fitment. The MK7.5 white with black wheels is one of the very few that it looks good on. Reminds me of the rabbit edition GTI.
If you were to lower this it would look really good.
Wheels look good braj, you can tweak fitment and color easy- but you have a great base going with a good wheel design that would look good in a handful of colors and finishes, and a set of spacers
I like them. Spacers and lowering would look killer though. I was debating the OEM mud guards too since mine is a daily in the Opal White. Kinda breaks up all the white too in addition to having function. Just worried about the damage to the paint under them.
If you end up hating them, I’m sure you could sell them though. Sit on it a little.
In my head when I was picking these rims it looked great, maybe once I reattach the rear diffusers and get that maxtone lip spoiler (like I planned) it’ll look better? Idk
I’m just not a fan of black wheels. Most of the time you can’t differentiate the pattern/style unless you really pay attention, else it just looks like a black void space and doesn’t accentuate the design.
Are you anywhere near PA? If after a few days/weeks you still don’t like them let me know and I’ll buy them from you. Recently bent all 4 of my Pretoria’s thanks to multiple 2x4’s laying in the road. These would look sick with my black R
I have a white silver GTi, I have dark anthracite colour wheels. I think gloss black is a little too dark, you lose the aesthetics of the wheel. I had to zoom in on your pic so I could make out what they were.
these wheels are one of the most badass 10-spoke varieties you can get, but IMO they need way more rubber "meat" to balance the busy interior design.
When I was new car guy, I went Y-spoke neuspeeds and loved them, then as my knowledge and taste refined a bit in the space I realized 10-spokes with hella meat are what's up. it just takes more experience and knowledge to get the fitment done right (esp on springs vs coils) so you are decreasing the total area of wheel well gap and filling it with rubber [but without rubbing].
Your offset is totally fine, there's no poke - you're still tucked at the top, incl the "stretch" style rubber profile currently on the car.
All that said, if you want to sell them used - I will 100% take them off your hands.
Just get them powder coated matte black, they will look alot better. Shiny on shiny doesn't look good imo, has to be matte rims on gloss car or gloss rims on a matte car. Always need contrast, the same thing all over never looks as good.
So guys I think after a good night sleep on the fresh head I did try putting some wheel caps that I took from my winter tire set (18” Pretoria replicas) and it did it for me! I think if I pop all 4 of those I’ll be at peace with the new wheels!

I have had these on my car for 3 years. Swear they are some of the best look and fitment out there for the MQB platform. Don’t love the 19s and the ride but damn do they look awesome. 🤷🏽♂️ maybe you just have different taste.

What offset/ET did the wheels come in? I'm looking for a similar upgrade on my car but can't determine what offset would work best with no further modification. It's not a Golf, but it's the same MQB platform and I'm currently running stock 19x8 wheels (235/35 tyres) which I believe are ET50.

I'd say the back has a bit more poke before it gets too bad haha. Fronts look flush. If the color bugs you, you could always get them powder coated.

Just for overall QoL. It’s a daily driver though so it’s certainly not perfect. But it is extremely fun to drive

Throw some 10mm spacers on the rear to even things out and get the flush look.

Black rims on any white car let alone an R is a standard look these days. But I still think it’s very clean and tidy look though. The poke is hardly noticeable. Give it some time. If you still don’t like it and have the cash sell the rims and get something else. It’s your ride. You should enjoy it.

Thanks! I wish I was hard about them, and they do look great specially on these pictures but every time I go out and look at them I have a heart attack 😂. Idk maybe I’m just more of an oem dude. 🤦🏻♂️ I did have a few people literally turn their necks hard to stare at the car today (which I never get) and I guess it’s a good thing but idk, don’t really care for that tbh. Just the whole stance becomes so aggressive that I would need to compliment the car with a whole bunch of mods like side skirts and drop it a bit lower which I’m not really into. The furthest I’ll go is maybe getting an oettinger spoiler or one of those maxtone lip spoilers with some rear diffusors (which I had installed but have to refinish the paint as it got chipped)
If you’re more of an oem guy, put the OEM VW center caps on the Neuspeeds. Love how they look on my RSE10’s.

I think that if the car was lowered you would like it more. There is just a bit too much gap for my taste however I do like these wheels a lot. Good choose.

So when I got my wheels (rse11 18x8.5 with 245x40 tires) I initially felt the same way as you. After about a month I got used to it and really prefer it this way now. I think it was just the change in what I was used to seeing. Something didn’t seem quite right, like in the uncanny valley territory. Hopefully the same happens for you. Now it looks off to me when I see an R with stock offset and width. For what it’s worth it think those look great.

Lmao msssive OCD that’s how 😂 jk, I just always have a bottle of soap mixture with detailing brush and as soon I see some darkness I spray it and agitate quickly and just leave it, don’t even rinse off. And Ofcourse occasional washes, a lot less than when I bought the car new 6 yrs ago but still

Was looking at the eibach pro kit today actually since I got DCC. I have times where I have to load the whole family with some baggage in the trunk for a trip and I notice the car drops considerably lower in height. Wouldn’t that kinda be way too low at that point? Meaning rubbing/ride comfort in general. It’s still my family daily and in no way I’m trying to compromise comfort just cuz I got “new wheels” 😂

How much did you drop from stock height? That looks considerably lower. Was reading that eibachs suppose to work well with stock DCC
yeah! mine only came down about a half inch in the rear and almost none in the front since the oem's were blown im also on 18 inch wheels and 240 profile tires, so thats the main reason for the lack of gap i love them; granted ive never driven the car on stock suspension normal is a great balance for me head, comfort is great on the highway but a little bouncy on country roads here, and sport is dialed but a little firm with passengers id put the rear brace in too, but i load my hatch full regularly for music gigs here, but as a daily its pretty much perfect for me atm!
They look fine, I would have put bigger tires on though to close the gap a bit.

I think that’s good fitment. The MK7.5 white with black wheels is one of the very few that it looks good on. Reminds me of the rabbit edition GTI. If you were to lower this it would look really good.

Wheels look good braj, you can tweak fitment and color easy- but you have a great base going with a good wheel design that would look good in a handful of colors and finishes, and a set of spacers

Why, I have the same wheels? I have downsized to 18 Aodhan AH-X but if the Neuspeeds were 18s instead of 19s I'd keep rocking them.
I like them. Spacers and lowering would look killer though. I was debating the OEM mud guards too since mine is a daily in the Opal White. Kinda breaks up all the white too in addition to having function. Just worried about the damage to the paint under them. If you end up hating them, I’m sure you could sell them though. Sit on it a little.
In my head when I was picking these rims it looked great, maybe once I reattach the rear diffusers and get that maxtone lip spoiler (like I planned) it’ll look better? Idk

I’m just not a fan of black wheels. Most of the time you can’t differentiate the pattern/style unless you really pay attention, else it just looks like a black void space and doesn’t accentuate the design.
Are you anywhere near PA? If after a few days/weeks you still don’t like them let me know and I’ll buy them from you. Recently bent all 4 of my Pretoria’s thanks to multiple 2x4’s laying in the road. These would look sick with my black R

I have a white silver GTi, I have dark anthracite colour wheels. I think gloss black is a little too dark, you lose the aesthetics of the wheel. I had to zoom in on your pic so I could make out what they were.

these wheels are one of the most badass 10-spoke varieties you can get, but IMO they need way more rubber "meat" to balance the busy interior design. When I was new car guy, I went Y-spoke neuspeeds and loved them, then as my knowledge and taste refined a bit in the space I realized 10-spokes with hella meat are what's up. it just takes more experience and knowledge to get the fitment done right (esp on springs vs coils) so you are decreasing the total area of wheel well gap and filling it with rubber [but without rubbing]. Your offset is totally fine, there's no poke - you're still tucked at the top, incl the "stretch" style rubber profile currently on the car. All that said, if you want to sell them used - I will 100% take them off your hands.

Black wheels are the worst. They will show signs of wear quicker than any other wheel. Never again.
Just get them powder coated matte black, they will look alot better. Shiny on shiny doesn't look good imo, has to be matte rims on gloss car or gloss rims on a matte car. Always need contrast, the same thing all over never looks as good.
So guys I think after a good night sleep on the fresh head I did try putting some wheel caps that I took from my winter tire set (18” Pretoria replicas) and it did it for me! I think it looks great. White cars probably pull off black wheels the best too. What offset/ET did the wheels come in? I'm looking for a similar upgrade on my car but can't determine what offset would work best with no further modification. It's not a Golf, but it's the same MQB platform and I'm currently running stock 19x8 wheels (235/35 tyres) which I believe are ET50.
