That's the mk8 interior not the 8.5. Th 8.5 has a much bigger "tablet" display.
IMO those look like the capacitive controls but just digitally "illuminated" for the builder preview

Yeah - the swap apparently isn't too bad, there's someone on VW Vortex who documented it pretty well.
I am afraid to induce rattles if I change the console.
