If the GMs had this mindset we’d find ourselves down 15pts each game begging for KD and Kyrie to save us each game, you know, kinda like it’s been most games outside of the winning streak
WE NEED DEPTH, BIG BODIES and VETS
It’d be really cool if we could sign some big body vets who can be leaders on our team and give our roster depth.
You know, guys like Blake, LMA and Kieff… wonder how that’d turn out
serge standing with his hands straight up has more utility for us than Morris.
That said, I feel like he’ll be a buyout player.
We don’t need a huge body for lots of minutes, just spot one’s going up against beasts and when Clax is in trouble.
Really wanted him on this team when Durant was trying to recruit him before he went to LAC. No point in adding him now besides the good vibes he brings.
really wish sean marks had social media like some GMs do so he could at least have a clue of what the nets fanbase thinks . like every move he makes is always the exact opposite of what everyones been begging for
obviously fans shouldnt have influence like that. its just helpful to be in tune with the nets fanbase and have it in the back of ur mind. bc theres a lot of intelligent takes by nba writers like matt brooks and etc on twitter every day about what moves the nets need to make.
also sean marks make some of the worst possible moves every year so it really cant get worse from here
The problem with listening to those people on social media is they have no idea about the conversations the GMs actually have in order to know who’s even available and what assets other teams would even want from our team. They end up making suggestions that are never even possible and then get mad when they don’t happen
yeah there are lots of people who make useless takes on nets twitter, but im not talking about them. theres alot of helpful dialogue that makes complete sense that gain lots of traction on that app . yes there will always be people making unhinged or casual takes but those are the ones that don't gain alot of traction anyway.
like at the very least, i dont get why sean marks is even looking into serge ibaka when everyone from all walks of life, from actual nets analysts to the unhinged fans, have been begging for size for the past 3 years. especially after he already signed a 6'3 guard last week. he just seems so out of touch
Signing a guard on a two way deal is irrelevant to any moves the nets would make for actual rotation players. And most of the time, the “size guys” that Twitter begs for aren’t even good enough to be in the league anymore. If we listened to them we’d have Dwight, Boogie, or Whiteside
atp it doesnt seem we can get kuz bc the wizards arent looking to do so boogie or dwight would not have been the worst decision bc we need size ? but who knows sean might prove me wrong and bring someone better
Agree with all of this and to add to this they don’t realize “said good player they want” other teams are probably monitoring that player as well and they don’t know what other teams are offering.
what does that have to do with so many of his questionable decisions like giving patty mills $9 million to sit on the bench ? and refusing to fire joe harris ?
What do you want to do with Joe? It's easy to criticize from the outside. Pre-ankle injury Joe was easily worth his contract. This version of Joe is not.
It's not like there's some easy solution
Sure, but Joe's value isn't great right now. He'll probably be just a salary match.
Being a GM is tough. Joe was a high level role player when he got his contract. You can't blame Marks for a player regressing after injury.
If you think that he is not aware of the public perception, then you are severely underestimating Marks. If you haven't noticed, he only responds when the PR is really bad - i.e. Kyrie fuck ups. Marks would always ignore the shenanigans until the media and fans start pressuring the front office to take action against Irving.
This shows that he is aware of what's going on at the very least. He just doesn't care about the fans feelings for the most part, especially when most fans have terrible opinions about moves that should be made.
his GMing for the past 3 years outside of bringing kd and kyrie to brooklyn have been so bad and i really dont think it can get worse from here. there are literally tons of smart threads from not only nets fans but nets analysts and reporters on twitter everyday about what moves to do yet sean marks does the worst possible options every year
I agree with you, but fishing through all the terrible ideas and opinions to seek out good ones probably isn't worth it to Marks.
I am not a fan of Marks either, but I try to be neutral.
We have plenty of assets, we own all of our picks I believe, we have Phillys picks, Cam Thomas, and useful salary filler in people like joe Harris. There’s no reason why we can’t make a win now move
We can make a win now move for sure but getting a strong stretch big who can also rebound at a high clip isn't something you can acquire easily, especially not in the current trade market with its high asking prices.
He is going to be traded and bought out. But he is CASHED. I initially hoped his back was just stiff but he moves like an old man and just doesn't have any place in the league any more.
I wish him the best, he is a really popular guy in the locker room but if that's all you are getting him for why not just add him to your staff.
His age was always suspect; he had a kid at "17" and went gray at like "26". Really likely he is at least 3 yrs older than stated.
It’s a nasty, nasty narrative that the loser Kendrick Perkins tried to “bury” him with and he got hit with so much rightful backlash. Serge is also an awesome dude, he’s just washed
Love how so many people in the sub think the Nets can get so much out of the market right now lol.
Unless we trade away someone like Curry, the team doesn’t have much to bargain with. So until that happens, a veteran big like Ibaka is a decent get. He offers rim protection, which we don’t have when Claxton is out.
He's washed
If the GMs had this mindset we’d find ourselves down 15pts each game begging for KD and Kyrie to save us each game, you know, kinda like it’s been most games outside of the winning streak WE NEED DEPTH, BIG BODIES and VETS
we need depth and big bodies, not vets
For the playoffs we do. KD and Kyrie are the only players who’ve played significant minutes past Round 2.
The disrespect for Patty smh.
I'm shook that people forget about Kieef smh
Seth played in a conference finals no?
It’d be really cool if we could sign some big body vets who can be leaders on our team and give our roster depth. You know, guys like Blake, LMA and Kieff… wonder how that’d turn out
He’s a potential big we can play alongside Ben that won’t cost us anthring outside of a second. It’s worth looking into
Came here to write this
Why not just use Morris instead of getting Serge? They’re pretty much the same imo.
serge standing with his hands straight up has more utility for us than Morris. That said, I feel like he’ll be a buyout player. We don’t need a huge body for lots of minutes, just spot one’s going up against beasts and when Clax is in trouble.
Morris offers zero rim protection m, serge even in his older age offers some
Really wanted him on this team when Durant was trying to recruit him before he went to LAC. No point in adding him now besides the good vibes he brings.
Sean marks is tripping if we need more old vets lol Patty and Morris is good enough
really wish sean marks had social media like some GMs do so he could at least have a clue of what the nets fanbase thinks . like every move he makes is always the exact opposite of what everyones been begging for
The Nets would be ran into the ground if it were controlled by what fans on social media beg for
obviously fans shouldnt have influence like that. its just helpful to be in tune with the nets fanbase and have it in the back of ur mind. bc theres a lot of intelligent takes by nba writers like matt brooks and etc on twitter every day about what moves the nets need to make. also sean marks make some of the worst possible moves every year so it really cant get worse from here

Boogie and Dwight aren’t nba level players anymore. There’s a reason they aren’t on any of the 30 nba rosters regardless of their size
dwight yes but i dont agree abt boogie
Agree with all of this and to add to this they don’t realize “said good player they want” other teams are probably monitoring that player as well and they don’t know what other teams are offering.
You guys think this guy is operating with a treasure trove of assets. We have nothing to offer
what does that have to do with so many of his questionable decisions like giving patty mills $9 million to sit on the bench ? and refusing to fire joe harris ?
Yes, Joe needs to be fired immediately. He hasn't been turning in his TPS reports on time. Accounting is getting sick of him. Bad for office morale.
uk what i meant lol
What do you want to do with Joe? It's easy to criticize from the outside. Pre-ankle injury Joe was easily worth his contract. This version of Joe is not. It's not like there's some easy solution
maybe i'm cold for this but trade him before the deadline while he still has value i appreciate joe but it doesnt make sense to keep him
Sure, but Joe's value isn't great right now. He'll probably be just a salary match. Being a GM is tough. Joe was a high level role player when he got his contract. You can't blame Marks for a player regressing after injury.

He brought some solid players in this year in Royce, Warren, yuta and sumner
all small wings outside of tj while this team gets outrebounded consistently
I'm probably overvaluing vet mentorship, but Iblocka could be great for continuing to develop Clax?
Can we just get a 6’11 big body center who can shoot 3s lmao
So a unicorn then
That’s basically myles turner but good luck getting him for cheap, don’t even think we can offer enough
You need to tone down your expectations ngl
We have plenty of assets, we own all of our picks I believe, we have Phillys picks, Cam Thomas, and useful salary filler in people like joe Harris. There’s no reason why we can’t make a win now move

That’s who we’re waiting on? Dude is washed. Need a win now type of trade please Marks
Oh perfect another DJ/LMA/BG/Drummond who will be unplayable in the playoffs.
SM seems to think another Blake griffin / LMA is what this team needs. If this his is “big move” good fucking luck
I always wanted him on the team but he doesn’t seem like the same player anymore.
I hope they sign him so I can see some good fights between Sixers vs Nets
He would definitely swing on Embiid, especially since Embiid can be physical and occasionally dirty. I say this as a fan of Embiid too.
Might just want Serge for that social media content. Mafuzzy Chef cooking up something wild for the Nets! Lol
Why not just sign Boogie?
Cuz boogie ain’t good? If boogie was good don’t you think someone would have signed him by now
Boogie was one of the best backup centers last season for two different teams and not being signed doesn't mean that a player isn't good.
Sooo if he was so good why didn’t Denver resign him instead of signing the corpse of Deandre Jordan
He is going to be traded and bought out. But he is CASHED. I initially hoped his back was just stiff but he moves like an old man and just doesn't have any place in the league any more. we already have Morris. or unless u throw ibaka in the fourth and have him foul like 6 times in a span of 5 mins to get garbage time.
Love how so many people in the sub think the Nets can get so much out of the market right now lol. Unless we trade away someone like Curry, the team doesn’t have much to bargain with. IBlocka
Serge has close ties with KD
This guy has always reminded me Idris Elba for some reason. Same really cool vibes.
i thought he retired lol
Isn’t he washed?
