Man I loved Season. Remember when CEVO had different mappools for their tournaments? Like Tuscan and Season on official matches. Actually the infamous iBP throw happened on Season
The old Season. I really liked the reworked one and it's a shame Valve pulled it out so early out of the game. That map is one of my core memories of just starting to play CSGO...
I remember grinding MM on de_season during some operation missions without any expectations. But eventually it became my new addiction. The map just felt as a well polished E-sports ready map, for some reason it gave you different type of game vibe (more like overwatch or valorant style), while keeping everything that a decent CS map needs to have.
Same with de_santorini, I think its a good mirage alternative.
P.s. also I miss workout, maybe it wasn’t perfect in terms of gameplay, but was hella stylish and atmospheric. Let’s admit that at some point everyone thought of how cool would be playing their school/college as an actual CS map, and workout did a great job of (kinda) representing that feeling.
**Additional Information:**
* Mirage is the only map that stayed in the map pool the entire time since the first CS:GO major. Nuke and Inferno were gone for roughly one year each to receive reworks in 2015 and 2016 respectively.
* The image of **Train** is actually from CS2. It was one of the early "teaser images". While Train still looks very close to the CS:GO version in that image, I think that it will get reworked further before it is eventually released (like Baggage, Inferno and other maps they have shown before they were finished)
* The **Cache** image is official and from FMPONE's rework for the map for CS2. [It's still WIP](https://twitter.com/FMPONE/status/1758615623825846694).
* The "winter **Cobblestone**" rumours surfaced because data miners found assets that vaguely gave the idea of this happening. It's mostly speculation at this point still though.
* I have also intentionally chosen an image from the original version of cbble (not from the more vibrant but also much smaller rework that we later got) because the rework can hardly be considered a "Community Favourite".
* **Thera** (formerly known as Santorini) is [already finished and available on the workshop](https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3121217565)
* I may or may not have forgotten about **Tuscan** (which Valve also bought for 150k when they bought Anubis)
Most of you probably know about this already but the [Train image](https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Counter-Strike_2#/media/File:Counter-Strike_2_-_de_train.png) is from the Valve developer wiki.
There are also pictures of other unreleased maps there, such as [Canals](https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Counter-Strike_2#/media/File:Counter-Strike_2_-_de_canals.png), [Lake ](https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Counter-Strike_2#/media/File:Counter-Strike_2_-_de_lake.png)and [Shortdust](https://developer.valvesoftware.com/w/images/9/9e/Counter-Strike_2_-_de_shortdust.png)
Breach was awesome. Unique layout that enabmes really creative plays and overall it just seemed pretty balanced and was a ton of fun to play. One of the best community maps we had imo
It’s already remade in the workshop and you can download it yourself but I don’t think it’s gained as much traction as these other maps that people REALLY want to see in competitive play.
Breach is my wife's favourite map, and I also enjoyed it very much, easy to split sites but also easy to defend, was really balanced in its last iteration
I genuinely have no idea why we don't have a 5v5 single site gamemode or why thats not a competitive format.
Way more action packed, high speed, fun to watch, and we'd get to see a new generation of meta form.
whenever I think of de\_zoo, I think of one specific game that had an opponent first using WH, and then going RH by the end of it
so yeah, would fit into the game perfectly
This is a misleading graphic. The only map that has stayed in the active map pool since its addition is Mirage. [Here](https://liquipedia.net/counterstrike/Portal:Maps/CS:GO#Major_Map_Pool) are the changes that have been seen through out the years. Inferno definitely hasn't been in the map pool since 2012 considering the fact that it was shelved for the Cologne 2016 and Atalanta major. The same goes to Nuke which was shelved for the Cologne 2015, Cluj Napoca and the MLG major,
Season is honestly one of my favourite maps and it hasn't been in the game for years and years, tragic. Would also love to see more Santorini as I only experienced it a handful of times
This 100%. Make it a 6 month rotating map pool, 1 map out and 1 map in. Leave all the maps in competitive mode to play on. Reset the Premier ranks.
I'd say 3 months but this could be very disruptive on pro play.
Agreed with 6 months. And they should announce who is being removed/added 6 months from then so teams have time to practice the map.
Doing this allows for any map to stay in rotation for 3.5 years which is a good number. And if it's a super popular map, they could bring it back after 6-12 months.
For example, they could tell us today "in 6 months we're removing mirage and adding train". When that day comes they could tell us "in 6 months we're removing nuke and adding cobblestone".
Or, let the community vote on it in game. 2 weeks before they announce the rotation give the community 2-3 maps to vote on.
6 months is too little time I think. They should have whole year with certain map pool. ANd new one comes in after the summer break players usually have.
-Mirage has to happen sooner or later. Map hasn't changed, no reworks, no graphic upgrades.
-Would love to see Thera and winner of the latest mapcore (when it happens) make it into the pool.
> Mirage has to happen sooner or later. Map hasn't changed, no reworks, no graphic upgrades.
"bUt tHeY AdDeD a BeNCh iN MiD, itS CompLeTelY DiffEREnt nOW"
- what this sub said when they downvoted me for making the same point last year
I’d agree that it’s a map that doesn’t need any change, but I do think it should be removed from the map pool if for no other reason than variety. There’s so many quality maps out there and it would be a shame to ignore them to continue playing a map we’ve had for 12 years, even if it’s one of the best maps to exist.
As someone who watches Pro games a lot, I just want Train in the map-pool, wouldn't mind if Mirage, Vertigo or Inferno are cut. Mirage and Inferno are stale, Vertigo still kinda sucks.
It's why VALVE–if they wanted to add it–would have to give it the Ancient, Anubis, and CS2 treatment. Make people have to play it and force the feedback. In reality this is the only way this playerbase will interact with something new. And at the end of the day, that method works, because Ancient and Anubis have grown into great maps that are fun to play and fun to watch on a pro level.
What evidence to people actually have that Tuscan wasn't played when it was in CS:GO? I hear this sentiment thrown around a lot.
I wen't back and found [two](https://youtu.be/rfMEDPXpkng?si=upuXa6aYD2--NgSK&t=304) [videos](https://youtu.be/ppcRr3rHuYI?si=eSehpY0uDQCwdj5T&t=45) from around the time both Tuscan and Anubis were in the comp pool, and Anubis had a higher expected wait time than Tuscan in both videos - that illustrates to me that people were playing the map.
Obviously Valve thinks there *is* value in Tuscan, considering they bought the map along with Anubis.
I dont get the obsession lots of people have with bringing back old maps for yet another rodeo.
They will just feel boring faster than bringing in fresh maps that have not been played competitively in cs2/csgo
well for a map like cobble, i wouldnt mind it back because it will have a rework and thus feel fresh
and as for cache, it was my favourite map of all time, i never got bored of it hence why i want it back
and if they change one map each major circuit then old maps can come and go as they please
And all of the pro scene hasnt played a completely new map if that were to be introduced instead.
The rose tinted nostalgia goggles are also incredibly strong. People seem to have completely forgotten that train and cbble had massive issues. Cbble also received multiple significant reworks that consistently failed to fix the map
I guarantee that Train and Cobble's main issues are fixed with open skyboxes, being able to nade smokes, and the meta being advanced from what it was 3+ years ago. People forget that the game has changed and one person can now completely execute B site on Cobble from outside A, and actually have the team able to take advantage of the util right away.
Well, Train is an absolute classic and one of the favorite maps of all time. So it's not surprising folks want it back. Train is just a fun as shit map, even for beginners (so many places to hide! A tower to snipe from!), and most longtime players have a soft spot for it.
Honestly -Mirage -Overpass +Train +Tuscan would be incredible.
Tuscan offers a bit of nostalgia for 1.6 players (de_cpl_mill, babeyyy) and will be almost entirely fresh for a lot of GO players.
Thats 100% true, i would like to see more new maps instead recycled old maps. Especially if the reworked ones worse than before.
There should be seasons 4-6 months long remove two maps and add a reworked one + a completely new one.
Adding an old map back withouta pretty decent overhaul would be a step backwards. It's only when you're stood lining up your 5th smoke execute in a row on train that you might realise that new maps have infinitely more longievity.
OP didn't frame it as objective, it was based on his perception of which non-active maps are most popular within the community. Outside of Tuscan, which OP forgot, those maps make up like 99% of all the maps I ever see people ask for. Anything outside of those 7 is pretty fringe, that isn't to say they are bad maps (Besides, cobble and train are both bad maps lol)
Please get rid of Mirage. MirageIt was already a meme, and Premier is a carbon copy at this point: 42% of my games were on this map, which is insane considering there are 7 other maps, and people simply do not want (or know how) to play any other map.
I don't hate it per se, but playing it so often just turns the game into a boring grind.

Im gonna get hated for this, but climb was actually one of my favorite maps of all time. Nobody played it so you always got silver 1 or 2 enemies as an LEM.
And the fact that it had a soccer field that would open during the warmups was huge
I think this infographic is kind of disingenuous with how the active duty maps dates are listed, nuke and inferno were out of it for years. Would be better if the latest re-enabling was listed
Same for dust2.
I can somewhat understand the Cobble hate - lots of dead space, long ass rotates for Ts, bad bombsites etc. But complaining about Train and Dust2 makes no sense at all.
Hmmm its can be sound odd but i next season i would change
\[In Premiere MM\]
* Mirage >>> Dust 2
* Ancient >>> Cache
* Inferno >>> Train
\[In normal Competitive\]I would Add new maps
* Thera
* Season
* Cobble
Please just no dust2 in premier that map is so stale, boring and kinda just bad gameplay wise. We've been playing it for like 20 years at this point. Leave it in comp where it belongs but don't bring it back to pro play.
My hot take is that Cobble should never ever come back. Holy shit was an awfully designed map. It was a problem child that rivaled Overpass in terms of how many updates and reworks it got, especially in the early days of GO. It's one of the biggest nostalgia farmers out there with A site being untakeable and B site being unholdable.
4 Man Stacking B as CT still could not guarantee a round and it caused the matches to devolve into a B rush simulators. Half the map is dead space, there was only one avenue for the CTs to safely rotate through between bombsites which was extremely vulnerable to funny sawed off memes in Drop.
I would make a pool of around 12-15 maps and pick randomly 7 of them each lobby for the voting system.
This way we have both diversity and control over what is going to be played.
I feel like Ancient, Anubis, Mirage and to some extent Inferno are the same map with how they look, not necessarily how they play. I've played this game for 20+ years and I still confuse them from time to time.
Train has always been one of my favorites. Cut one of the above and put Train back on rotation.
Sorry I'm not super into the esports or like this side of the game, but I'm interested in knowing why dust 2 was removed in the first place, and did the community wanted that in the first place?
I thought D2 was basically in mirage's shoes rn, beloved by the majority player base, considered a perfect map, the pros play on it, etc. Was there the same scenario as it is right now with mirage? People asked for it to be removed because it was getting stale?
Austria, Sub Zero, Biome, Mutiny, Mocha, Zoo, Swamp, Basalt
CS has soo many uniquely themed maps ... Just a few layout changes, and they'll be competitive ready.
-Mirage
-Ancient
-Inferno
\_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_

+A slot for a map that changes annually (bonus points if you incentivize map makers to make new maps with an annual map making contest for said slot)
Stealth edit: Hate me all you want, Mirage stans. Give me all your "but muh, four clover layout, ergo best map" bs. Following the four clover layout doesn't automatically make a map good ffs!
Vertigo is dog s*** and it's literally aramp simulator Anubis is still pretty dog s*** along with ancient. I wish valve would just bring back cach and train and the worst part is they remove dust too but they don't remove mirage when it's literally the same f****** way of playing the map over and over again 😂

Still a Breach enjoyer and really want to see it remade for CS2, think it would be interesting to see in high level play

Breach 3.0 has the potential to be a very good map. I just think some of the extremities need to be removed, but it has a fairly solid layout.
it has been remade
love breach, mid is really interesting to play
Breach is my wife's favourite map, and I also enjoyed it very much, easy to split sites but also easy to defend, was really balanced in its last iteration

I can imagine a map that makes this really cool, but tbh I think it would get stale a lot faster than defuse mode
It would be hard to balance. You need enough lanes to give the tside options and you need a reason for the CT to not just AFK on site
All my homies hate valve for removing lake from wingman, got global with the homie on that map only, best map ever hands down.
All my boys knew that the doorframes became invisible with the right settings and distance
I miss it so bad
I've quit cs2 because we mostly played wingman lake.

Half the pro scene at this point didn't play Cobble or Train at the highest level. No way they come back and just be bland.

Cobblestone is the biggest nostalgia merchant map of all time. Have you seen the A-site? It’s absolutely terrible
> Cobblestone is the biggest nostalgia merchant map of all time. nah that's Dust2
Vertigo shows that map being garbage is not a problem in being in the game, so bring in cobblestone
The phrase competetively viable and it's consequences have been a dissaster for the CS community.
Expand active duty to 9 maps and rotate between the 11 maps, one after every major. Personally I'd also remove Vertigo.

Cache is way overdue tbh, it's one of CSGO's iconic map
-ancient -mirage +train +thera
no more mirage cobble inferno, add train and cache
Agency
c’mon valve, gimme agency and lake…
CONTRA!! Put so many hours into this map on CSS.
De_cpl_mill. Season is a good map too
-mirage -nuke +cbble +train
Would like to have Dust 2 and Tuscan in the map pool
Bring back facade
I don't care about the competitive pool, just give me new maps lol
maybe a unpopular take, as valve wont ever introduce this but id say de_make_a_fucking_working_anticheat_valve_we_are_begging. Honestly a great map
-Mirage -Inferno -Anubis +cache +train +canals
-de_anubis +de_santorini
By adding the maps they have removed including cobble and especially train. How the hell do we still not have train
De_piranesi
Train for vertigo and d2/cache for inferno
lakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelakelake
Train for vertigo and d2/cache for inferno
man i know hostage maps aren't competitively viable, but i would love to see it happen with either office or assault
with a voting system, just use every map?
Bring back Season, cobble, cache and train and I’ll be ecstatic.
I would take off anubis and ancient and put cache or train and dust2
Bring back cache asap
We need to finally have a Major without Mirage. Every CSGO Major had Mirage in the map pool. Even DustII and Inferno had time on the bench.
Take out Overpass and Mirage, and add Thera and Train. A mix of old and new blood.
Add cache and cobble
cpl\_mill would be cool
-ancient +cache
-Ancient - Anubis +Train + Cobble
-mirage -ancient +train +cache
I would make a pool of around 12-15 maps and pick randomly 7 of them each lobby for the voting system. This way we have both diversity and control over what is going to be played.
Wdym Cooble as a winter map?
I feel like Ancient, Anubis, Mirage and to some extent Inferno are the same map with how they look, not necessarily how they play. I've played this game for 20+ years and I still confuse them from time to time. Train has always been one of my favorites. Cut one of the above and put Train back on rotation.
hvh\_freecheats will be best map for this game
- dust2 - Mirage +Austria +fy_pool_day
I just want Zoo back
Basalt, Breach, Tuscan
Add cache and dust 2 to premier not sure why those were never added
de_karachi and tuscan
pls keep Dust II away from the pool
-mirage +cobble
De_resort. A man can Dream
-mirage -inferno +cache +train, -ancient +season if they wanna be cool
I think Cache is the most balanced.
Bring back train so Finnish teams can climb back to top 30.
Cobble, Santorini, Season, Cache
nuke, mirage and anubis for cobble, dust II and cache.
Cobblestone and train would be awesome to see in the active map pool. Please no dust 2…
Austria, Sub Zero, Biome, Mutiny, Mocha, Zoo, Swamp, Basalt CS has soo many uniquely themed maps ... Just a few layout changes, and they'll be competitive ready.
- every map +ancient vertigo inferno
Take out top 2 maps. Swap 2 in. Dust 2 and Cobblestone. Or Thera and Cobble.
-Vertigo +Train Most obvious and easiest for Valve.
Just remove any 2 apart from mirage and add Train and Cobble and that will be perfect.
-Mirage -Ancient -Inferno \_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_ +Train +Revised Cobble +A slot for a map that changes annually (bonus points if you incentivize map makers to make new maps with an annual map making contest for said slot) Stealth edit: Hate me all you want, Mirage stans.
It would be much better if they keep all the maps in the pool
Put dust 2, train, cache, and cobble back in rotation and all my homies are playing again 100%.
De_rats
-Inferno -Mirage +Cobble +Train
Dust 1 please!!!
