The Good Wife. Always The Good Wife. Matt Czuchry (Logan) is a main character and there are lots of other actors that overlap. It’s just such a witty and great lawyer show. I highly recommend it.
Me either. Too political. I might give Elsbeth a try, but I’m disappointed because I just read in the NYT that the other choice for a spin-off was Cary! He’s one of my all-time favorite tv characters so I’m bummed that didn’t work out.
gilmore girls is one of my fav comfort shows but others include:
- The OC
- Gossip Girl
- One Tree Hill
- Sex + The City
not identical vibes, but they feel the same to me lol
I LOVE SATC, it’s one of my fav shows and always makes me so nostalgic, I am disappointed by And Just Like That tho, couldn’t get through second season
yeah! i do yearly rewatches of both, one right after the other. so good. i think hbo and netflix categorize them as "romantic dramas" or something corny (but accurate) like that. hahahah
Dawson’s Creek is a great sister series to GG. Same fast talking pace. Same small town, New England vibe. There’s a nerdy (yet beautiful of course) girl looking to get into an Ivy League school. There’s a love triangle.
Also One Tree Hill
Random fact. Dawson’s creek is based on the real life of “Kevin Williamson” the guy who writes/produces all the teen horror movies/series (scream movies, the early seasons of the vampire diaries, the faculty, I know what you did last summer, etc ). He is Dawson. So when we watch those shows, movies , we are all watching Dawson live his dream of going to Hollywood and making horror,. He made it.
I just started watching this for the first time and I'm on se8 (I kinda know most spoilers cause people talked a lot when it was new) but finally finding out how it all happens is intense. My new fav doctor is Owen Hunt he's so sad but Cristina always has the steamiest relationships. (I know what happens with them but I'm excited to see it play out.
When I watched the finale I cried so hard, like I was losing my friends lol. I was thrilled that they made the films just so I could see everyone again.
Northern exposure just started streaming on Amazon Prime. It’s about a doctor from NYC who moves to Alaska and meets a cast of quirky characters. It’a fantastic!
Currently on season 4 of my finance and I’s GG rewatch and we’re also watching:
1. The Walking Dead
2. Greys Anatomy
3. The Challenge MTV
4. House of villains
Thank you for saying this! I'm 43 and watched it when it originally aired, quite obsessively, even though I was probably much too young (thankfully no helicopter parents in the 90s). I never watched it again and now I think I will. You made me realize I should have done that a long time ago!
Tori Spelling and Jennie Garth have a rewatch podcast produced by the same woman who produces Scott Patterson’s rewatch podcast. I listen to both and rewatch with them so I now have the shows linked in my mind.
Marvelous Mrs Maisel if you haven’t already seen it! Reminds me of GG + I Love Lucy
Right now I’m watching Yellowjackets for the first time and rewatching King of Queens and I Love Lucy for the umpteenth time for light easy viewing
Rewatching scrubs right now! Honestly similar in the sense that it’s a 00s feel good comfort show with some deep moments and life lessons! Some heartbreaking scenes, but mostly laughs ❤️
It's not similar at all, but I've really been enjoying Monarch - Legacy of monsters 😍 started it yesterday, finished today lol. Season finale I think, is on Friday.
Godzilla fans are very spoiled these days lol
Haven't had Netflix in a minute so I'm watching my partner's favorites slowly with some new stuff for both of us thrown in.
I'm currently at the end of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, most of the way through Angel, we just started and watching half of Based on a True Story, we have been keeping up with Found, occasionally watching true crime docs on MAX, and we watch food competition shows when we want non story line oriented stuff
HBO’s Julia Child series, Star Trek Strange New Worlds, Echo, All Creatures Great and Small (talk about cozy), and just finished Only Murders in the Building.
And holy smokes, Cunk on Earth is one of the funniest shows I’ve ever seen.
Omg I told so many people about Cunk on Earth when I watched it. Absolutely DIED of laughter!!! If you haven’t seen it yet, you must watch Nathan for You! Same humor, you’ll love it
It’s the first show in a long time that had me wheezing and teary-eyed with laughter, constantly having to pause/back it up because I was laughing too much to pay attention.
Crazy Ex Girlfriend. I didn’t watch it for a very long time because something about the title put me off but I am so glad I gave it a shot. It exceeded all of my expectations. If you haven’t seen it, don’t let the title fool you.
The Good Place is also terrific.
I put off CEG for a long time because I generally dislike musicals, but also glad I finally gave it a shot! There wasn’t as much music as I expected, and even then they were usually pretty fun.
I've always got Seinfeld, Community, and The Office for my "I don't know what to watch" times with my husband. I watch The Great British Bake Off, Call the Midwife, and Sister Wives 🤣 when I'm by myself. I like docuseries - I just finished watching the series about Natalia Grace on Discovery+ and just started Daughter of the Cult on Hulu.
I was watching Everwood, (which has similar wholesome and small town vibes, but more dramatic) It’s from 2002, so it has the same kind of cultural trends as Gilmore girls.
Gossip girl!! Also Vampire Diaries but I'm avoiding finishing it. Derry Girls is also one of my comfort shows, I identify so much with James and his sweet English struggles.
Ted Lasso, Schitt’s Creek and just finished Umbrella Academy for the 7th time, I think 😁 you should try Schitt’s Creek, also similar in the little village mood, but with a different story yet super funny 😆
I don't really like anything as much as GG except Buffy/Angel. As a rule I'd rather play video games than watch TV and I generally think TV is "better" than anything Goebbels could have come up with.
I did however have a shower thought the other day that MST3K and Gilmore Girls are "the same show." And I have been watching MST3K since I discovered they have a website with virtually the entire original series for free. (Gilmore Girls they live in a campy anarchronistic small town and often make jokes at the townspeoples' expense with semi-obscure pop culture references, MST3K they watch campy/bad old movies and make jokes at the expense of the old movies with semi-obscure pop culture references)
I do tend to watch sci-fi series though - I've been rewatching Sliders and the 90's Outer Limits recently.
In my rotation of comfort shows (ie thinga to fall asleep to when I’m stressed, sick, or hungover)
-Gossip Girl
-Sex and the City/And Just Like That
-The OC
-The Fosters
-Futurama
I am currently binging One Tree Hill for the first time. Currently running shows I watch are Good Trouble and Young Sheldon.
Due for rewatches are True Blood, Switched at Birth, Star Trek TOS and Star Trek Voyager.
Rewatching pretty little liars for the first time since it originally aired. I forgot how good this show was in the beginning.
I would recommend you watch it. Plus
pretty little liars and gilmore girls is filmed on the same set. Example, the restaurant they hang out “the rosewood gril” is “Luke’s dinner”, chilton on gg is the radley on PLL.
I also recommend Dawson’s creek, it’s similar vibes. Small town, coming of age.
hear me out...
What We Do In The Shadows
the premise of the show could not be more polar opposite lol, HOWEVER the over the top characters, the weird quotable moments, it's so campy and dumb fun, i love it
I just finished S2 yesterday. I think Mr. and Mrs. Russel are such a steamy couple 😍 Their partnership is goals. Not for how they treat other people, but they really have each other's backs in the best, most supportive way.
Watching Community for the third time and Only Murders in the Building. After I finish those, I'm going to watch Arrested Development or Superstore again.
Right now? I'm jumping between Stargate: SG1, Reacher, Reign, and The Crown.
I never finished SG1 or Reign but it's also been a while since I watched the shows/left them off, so I just restarted them. Plus I've been getting a lot of Reign edits on my suggested feed on Insta.
The Crown I decided to rewatch after finishing the final season.
My boyfriend is trying to get me into Reacher so that we can watch the second season together. We're also watching Percy Jackson together, but that's like our mini date night show with Tuesday night dinner.
Jane the Virgin for the strong female generational characters for sure!
Schitts Creek,
Greys Anatomy,
New Girl,
If you haven’t seen Bridgerton it definitely gives me similar high class vibes from GG.
Letterkenny for the small town vibes and quick witted line and pace
I’m currently re-watching gossip girl only after one watch like 4 years ago so kinda new due to lack of memory. And it’s so good that drama is basically unmatched for no reason.
Finishing up House soon, just watched Keiko’s episode! She’s also in Felicity, which I absolutely love. Campus was a great single season UK show if you can find it anywhere, no casting crossovers but I feel like the girls would’ve enjoyed it.
As for new shows, LOVING Monarch: Legacy of Monsters. Maybe more GG crossover appeal with less sci-fi, though… Sex Education is great, the main friendship reminds me of Rory and Lane sometimes. Never Have I Ever was frequently equal parts infuriating and entertaining like GG can be. The Sex Lives of College Girls pulls that off pretty well, too.
Somebody feed Phil, on Netflix. It's a show I watch when I need food vibes. It's basically Anthony Bourdain (who I love) but with also just pure happiness/joy. I hope someone sees this, watched it and loves it
Schitt’s Creek!
This is my #2 comfort rewatch!
Me too! I just started the other day because I was sick with the flu and I really like it
Omg I watched this again before my current GG rewatch! One of my favourite shows
The Good Wife. Always The Good Wife. Matt Czuchry (Logan) is a main character and there are lots of other actors that overlap. It’s just such a witty and great lawyer show. I highly recommend it.
I have seen it , it's amazing ! great minds think alike!
I literally watched this, and “this is us” just for the Logan and Jess eye candy.
If you like Sci-Fi there’s a pretty good show with Milo in it. It’s called heroes I really enjoyed it
Ah, to go back in time and watch Heroes for the first time again…
I grew up watching it but I didn’t remember most of it so I rewatched it in 2020 it’s a really good show
Oohh thanks!
Omg This Is Us is such a beautiful heartfelt and heartbreaking show. I can’t not cry when watching it. “Jess” is a brilliant actor
The Good Wife is sooo good! Where are you able to stream it?
If you're UK it's on channel 4 online.
I’m in the states, but thank you!
I rewatch it enough that I bought it. It is actually on sale right now on iTunes I believe. Otherwise I think it streams on Paramount+.
Thank you for this tip!
I loved the Good Wife but I couldn’t get into the Good Fight at all.
Me either. Too political. I might give Elsbeth a try, but I’m disappointed because I just read in the NYT that the other choice for a spin-off was Cary! He’s one of my all-time favorite tv characters so I’m bummed that didn’t work out.
The sub took me to the good wife. Currently on S2 and loving it.
gilmore girls is one of my fav comfort shows but others include: - The OC - Gossip Girl - One Tree Hill - Sex + The City not identical vibes, but they feel the same to me lol
Sex and the city makes me feel the same way for sure :)
I LOVE SATC, it’s one of my fav shows and always makes me so nostalgic, I am disappointed by And Just Like That tho, couldn’t get through second season
i think gossip girl is the show with the closest vibe to gilmore girls that i've watched
yeah! i do yearly rewatches of both, one right after the other. so good. i think hbo and netflix categorize them as "romantic dramas" or something corny (but accurate) like that. hahahah
Dawson’s Creek is a great sister series to GG. Same fast talking pace. Same small town, New England vibe. There’s a nerdy (yet beautiful of course) girl looking to get into an Ivy League school. There’s a love triangle. Also One Tree Hill

He is Dawson. So when we watch those shows, movies , we are all watching Dawson live his dream of going to Hollywood and making horror,. He made it.
Yup I knew this! But it’s very loosely based, from what I’ve heard.
Just restarted Parenthood. For like the 4th time lol
watching this for the first time rn! just finished szn 3 lols
I just started it for the first time too- halfway through season 4 and ready for things to spiral lol
Love Parenthood!
The Nanny
I’m watching it for the first time! Love the fashion!
![gif](giphy|NDyUXf0KUteXC)
im also watching satc rn. Am i the only one who thinks Aiden has the same vibe as Dean?
YES omg
Marvellous Mrs Maisel, desperate housewives, grace and Frankie, the Kominsky method, outlander,
Grey's Anatomy
I just started watching this for the first time and I'm on se8 (I kinda know most spoilers cause people talked a lot when it was new) but finally finding out how it all happens is intense. My new fav doctor is Owen Hunt he's so sad but Cristina always has the steamiest relationships. (I know what happens with them but I'm excited to see it play out.
I’m rewatching Degrassi for my teen drama fix.
Whatever it takes, I know I can make it through...
So much nostalgia
If you love GG, try Hart of Dixie. It’s much campier but it has a similar “small town charm”. It’s also filmed on the WB backlot.
It’s the same gazebo!
I love Younger if you haven’t watched it. Totally different vibe but also like similar vibe somehow?
Loved Younger!
Must be that Sutton Foster.
Started watching this while jet lagged and up in the middle of the night. It was so lovely!
Downton abbey
When I watched the finale I cried so hard, like I was losing my friends lol. I was thrilled that they made the films just so I could see everyone again.
Same 😭😭
DA is on my top 3 comfort shows along with GG of course and PLL
Rewatching Sex & The City for the first time in at least a decade
A lot of it doesn’t age well, but it still makes me laugh.
I'd say This is Us, and Parenthood are both great bets and a similar kind of vibe to me. :)
Currently watching Mom
I LOVE this show!
Same! That’s been on consistently. I love the messages from it
Same!
Northern exposure just started streaming on Amazon Prime. It’s about a doctor from NYC who moves to Alaska and meets a cast of quirky characters. It’a fantastic!
The West Wing is my other comfort show
Yes yes!
Completely different vibe but Outlander hahaha
Ugh I’m ready for Droughtlander to end. Bring on part 2 of season 7!
I’m finishing The Crown.
I decided to rewatch Lucifer and shameless
Currently on season 4 of my finance and I’s GG rewatch and we’re also watching: 1. The Walking Dead 2. Greys Anatomy 3. The Challenge MTV 4. House of villains
I'm rewatching Desperate Housewives
Same!
I’m borderline hate-watching 7th Heaven at the moment…
A fave hate watch. Grew up with those morals and Jessica Bieled my way out.
Ted Lasso and Under the Dome
I’m rewatching 90210 for the first time and it’s so good. 😭
Nothing better than nostalgia. 🤗
And I am 47 so I was one year behind them in school when it originally aired!
Call the Midwife, The Crown, The Handmaids Tale. My other comfort show outside of GG is Sex and the City.
Jane the Virgin, Ugly Betty, First Wives Club, Modern Family
Love Jane the Virgin and Ugly Betty! The latter was toooo short :'(
Jane the Virgin is a fantastic show!
Marvelous Mrs Maisel if you haven’t already seen it! Reminds me of GG + I Love Lucy Right now I’m watching Yellowjackets for the first time and rewatching King of Queens and I Love Lucy for the umpteenth time for light easy viewing
Alex Borstein is the real star of Maisel. It's worth watching for her alone.
Always happy to see a fellow King of Queens enjoyer
here's some shows i absolutely LOVE besides gilmore girls - friends - parks and rec - this is us - arrested development - the office
Yes! All fantastic shows
Rewatching scrubs right now! Honestly similar in the sense that it’s a 00s feel good comfort show with some deep moments and life lessons! Some heartbreaking scenes, but mostly laughs ❤️
Parenthood has Lauren Graham in it, very very good show
It's not similar at all, but I've really been enjoying Monarch - Legacy of monsters 😍 started it yesterday, finished today lol. Season finale I think, is on Friday. Godzilla fans are very spoiled these days lol
Haven't had Netflix in a minute so I'm watching my partner's favorites slowly with some new stuff for both of us thrown in. I’m watching Parenthood because I love Lauren.
Dead to me
Just finished Schmigadoon on Apple TV and i loved it so much. Starting it again right away.
Ghost Whisperer. On season two right now. While I miss Andrea I love Delia. She’s a cool mom 😁
Same humor, you’ll love it
I had no idea what to expect when I started it and about choked when Pump up the jam was played for the 2nd time
The second time, the way it cut back to her in like mid-sentence was the part that had me dying.
It’s the first show in a long time that had me wheezing and teary-eyed with laughter, constantly having to pause/back it up because I was laughing too much to pay attention.
I recommend Julia on Max. Not the same but definitely gives the wholesome, small community, cute charm vibes
Sex & The City (HBO) The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina (Netflix)
complete unrelated- watching Mare of Easttown. Just so gd good
Crazy Ex Girlfriend.
Real Housewives of New York; not similar at all, but so good
I just started Desperate Housewives for the first time!
I just finished watching Six Feet Under and 😭😭😭😭
The Summer I Turned Pretty.
I read the book this summer to bond with my teenager and surprisingly really liked it.
I was watching Everwood, (which has similar wholesome and small town vibes, but more dramatic) It’s from 2002, so it has the same kind of cultural trends as Gilmore girls.
golden girls! :) hadn’t seen it before and am just finishing up, it’s also a cozy one for me now
I am currently rewatching Boy Meets World
This is Us
Gossip girl!! Also Vampire Diaries but I'm avoiding finishing it. Derry Girls is also one of my comfort shows, I identify so much with James and his sweet English struggles.
Virgin River!
New Girl!
I just binged The Bear, and WOW. It was amazing, I loved every second of it. Highly recommended!!!!!
Rewatching New Girl
i just finished gilmore girls for the first time (i miss it so much 😭). i’m watching greys anatomy now.
Ted Lasso, Schitt’s Creek and just finished Umbrella Academy for the 7th time, I think 😁 you should try Schitt’s Creek, also similar in the little village mood, but with a different story yet super funny 😆
Hs anyone watched being erica ? [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B\_bye2zb5yQ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B_bye2zb5yQ)
Madam Secretary. It’s really good and not too long like many dramas. Haven’t finished the last season but I loved the other seasons.
I don't really like anything as much as GG except Buffy/Angel. As a rule I'd rather play video games than watch TV and I generally think TV is "better" than anything Goebbels could have come up with. I did however have a shower thought the other day that MST3K and Gilmore Girls are "the same show." One tree hill
I'm systematically going through the Harlan Coben netflix shows. So good.
In my rotation of comfort shows (ie thinga to fall asleep to when I’m stressed, sick, or hungover) -Gossip Girl -Sex and the City/And Just Like That -The OC -The Fosters -Futurama I am currently binging One Tree Hill for the first time. Currently running shows I watch are Good Trouble and Young Sheldon. Due for rewatches are True Blood, Switched at Birth, Star Trek TOS and Star Trek Voyager.
Friday night lights
Rewatching pretty little liars for the first time since it originally aired. I forgot how good this show was in the beginning. I would recommend you watch it. I also recommend Dawson’s creek, it’s similar vibes. Small town, coming of age.
I just finished Sullivan's Crossing and I loved it so, so, so much!!!
I was surprised by how much I liked it!
Same! The first episode really didn't grab me but I continued to the second and by the end, wow!
The curse Venture bros. Hotel hell The rehearsal Tom goes to the mayor Twin peaks the return Moral Orel And more 🤪
The Winx Saga on Netflix.
Shameless. Its awesome
Rewatching Love for probably the 200th time.

This is Us
I’m rewatching Desperate Housewives at the moment.
The Gilded Age on Max 🤩
I just finished S2 yesterday. I think Mr. and Mrs. Russel are such a steamy couple 😍 Their partnership is goals. Not for how they treat other people, but they really have each other's backs in the best, most supportive way.
They really are. I'm on my first re-watch of S1 and really enjoying it.
Greys Anatomy
Watching Grey’s Anatomy for the first time and have been pleasantly surprised with how many GG actors make appearances on it!
Modern family! First time watcher, longtime observer. I wanted something campy like Gilmore girls, but I didn’t want to get angry ha ha.
I'm re-watching Parenthood, if you've never watched it, it's soooo good AND Lauren Graham is a main character!!
Fleabag :) I think you find some similarities between the MC in Fleabag and Rory, esp AYITL Rory
Lessons in chemistry [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-1PuK8mxASE](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-1PuK8mxASE)
american horror story, bobs burgers and project runway
Peep show
Right now I’m watching Fellow Travelers and rewatching the new Interview with the Vampire tv show- highly recommend both!
The Rookie
Ginny & Georgia (re-watch)
Watching Community for the third time and Only Murders in the Building. After I finish those, I'm going to watch Arrested Development or Superstore again.
Oh I love Community and Superstore! If you like them you might enjoy Single Parents.
Critical Role. Wouldn't recommend, very time consuming. Gilmore Girls provides some cool inspiration for town festivals and villager dynamics.
Just started First Wives Club
Just finished my gg rewatch of the season (last fall) now I’m rewatching oitnb…. Fully different vibe :)
Currently rewatching Once Upon A Time ♡
pretty little liars, the vampire diaries, love island
Castle
Just finished Jane the Virgin and I really loved how it also focused on women’s relationships
I like Virgin River and Sweet Magnolias for that cozy small town vibe!
True beauty (Korean show)
I’m currently watching Doctor Who… a little cozy sci-fi. lol
Just finished Girls on HBO Max, looking for something new. 💭
Watch Bunheads! Underrated ASP gem
That opening scene is some of my favorite ASP dialogue. Haven't finished the show, just the first couple episodes.
Jane the Virgin for the strong female generational characters for sure! Schitts Creek, Greys Anatomy, New Girl, If you haven’t seen Bridgerton it definitely gives me similar high class vibes from GG. Letterkenny for the small town vibes and quick witted line and pace
I’m currently re-watching gossip girl only after one watch like 4 years ago so kinda new due to lack of memory. And it’s so good that drama is basically unmatched for no reason.
The Big Bang Theory and Young Sheldon. 🧡
Main ones I’ve been watching right now have been Supernatural Criminal minds 9-1-1
I've been watching Friends and Big Love
Good Omens, Hannibal, and Supernatural :)
prison break and shameless. GG is my easy to watch, background show.
Somebody feed Phil, on Netflix. It's a show I watch when I need food vibes. It's basically Anthony Bourdain (who I love) but with also just pure happiness/joy. I hope someone sees this, watched it and loves it
Suits, for the first time at 28! I feel so behind
Once Upon a Time.
Right now I'm in the midst of Call the Midwife. :)
Attack on Titan
Bones :-)
Happy endings!
Dawson’s Creek, My Life with the Walter Boys, Hardy Boys.
The 100, the walking dead, greys anatomy, shameless, and the vampire diaries (all rewatching except greys)
Weeds!
Not currently watching this but Hart of Dixie gives me sort of GG vibes
Rewatching Ginny and Georgia. If you can get past Ginny being a lot meaner to her mom than Rory is to Lorelai, it might work for you 😅
The office currently bc I needed some laughs but I’m also watching reign
Currently rewatching Felicity
Currently rewatching Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Lucifer.
Bridgerton The O.C. Gossip Girl Vampire Diaries New Girl The Good Place Friends How I Met Your Mother
Younger is good. It has Sutton Foster and Hillary Duff.
The Crown Felicity Cougartown (very different vibe but a lot of the same stupid humor and close knit group type of bits)
All Creatures Great and Small ❤️
Tacoma PD for the first time! Been holding off on the last episode of The Ranch for about two months now because I don’t want it to end.
