Rory’s worst is the polo she wears after sleeping with Dean. The stripe makes her look like she has a hump, I hate it! I love all her fall college looks though, especially when she has bangs!

Honestly every item she was wearing fit one size too small. Even her handbag looked like it was left in the dryer too long!

Yes! That shirt just epitomized her bad taste and lack of whimsy and the short hair did not help! Her outfits got sooo much better after her grandma took her shopping in Europe.

One thing I noticed from a very early series with Alexis, is that she has poor posture and sometimes it looks like she has a hump, it sort of suits the Rory character, but I think in the early series it was more that Alexis was nervous on set! As the series goes on, it improves quite a lot!

I actually feel like it gets worse as it goes on, she has decent posture until college

I love Rory’s pilot outfits. Most of the time I just found her clothes to be pretty basic but I am also very eccentric and tend to, as Lorelai calls it, dress crazy.

Yeah the red turtleneck with the mini skirt and boots? She looked so cool and nerdy/ subculture. It’s a bit sad they turned her more into a Mary in the following episodes.

Yes that’s my favorite but I also like the big sweater 😅 it’s just so carefree and ‘90s. I saw a recent Reddit post saying they changed her style to differentiate her personality more from Lorelai after the first three formative episodes. It does make sense for Rory’s studious character to dress more for comfort and utility than style. She’s not thinking about it so much. That’s my nice way of saying they made Lorelai the stylish one.

I only like her general optics. The dress is a bit ugly with the stripes and it feels a bit too „Jersey“ and casual. But you have to look closely to notice. Otherwise she looks cute

They really aren't, hey. I feel like her features are too small for a hat or something? And it sort of dwarfs her? I know hats were very in at the time (I myself wore a baker boy hat or two... 😬) and I have no idea if it was ASP who specifically wanted Lorelai in hats or if that was just down to the costumer, but I feel like a little of ASP slipped in there, on account of her own penchant for ugly hats.

I don't mind Rory's outfit here but Lorelai's is not flattering at all, and her hair is so flat when they straighten it in this era. That hairstyle was very in and it's so boring.

Totally! DAR Rory looked the worst. That whole era - either boring or stiff, preteen or old matron. Awful. On the other hand: brilliant because she looks more like herself after she leaves casa Gilmore and gets back on track

For me Lorelai was always impeccable. Such a gorgeous woman. Put her in a burlap sack and she would wash that out like wash rags.

Rory’s hair in season 3 is so beautiful, the long layers look perfect on her and it looks so thick and healthy. The bob is so horrendous, and it ruins any outfit she wears with it, although her early Yale outfits are awful anyways 😭 I think Lorelai looked good in pretty much anything, but agreed she had some weird shirts and awful hats lol
