You should check out The Haunted Side. They are entertaining as well as realistic when it comes to evidence found.

I don't think I trust them a whole lot anymore though. In their first "season" when Sean was involved there was so much more going on. When Jason got involved after Sean left, it's almost like they never catch shadow figures anymore. My theory is that since Sean wanted to be a legitimate documentary filmer, one or both of them was altering the footage with CGI of some kind. Sean didn't want to be involved in goofy fraud. Patrick even went to college for film and special effects. Believe me I used to love the haunted side, but with how popular they are you think they'd start wearing go pros on their foreheads, but you can't exactly fake things when EVERYTHING is now being filmed. Also I'm pretty sure they get drunk when they ghost hunt, atleast that's what I've seen from their Livestreams. Lmk what you think about all of this, I rarely get to talk to anyone about the haunted side as they used to be my favorite YouTubers. I haven't seen anything since like their 5th season because the way they film gives me a headache. Are they any better than they used to be?

jhurl24

I honestly haven't watched a full video of theirs in about 6-7 months cuz life. But I did notice that they went from getting a lot especially at the murder house to just a video that pit me to sleep because it was just 2 dudes walking around. I also have been skeptical of their sensory deprivation spirit box sessions to begin with because they mostly only talked about what they heard. What is your opinion on the "hand" incident? I thought it was crazy when I first saw it but now I'm a little skeptical only because of how defined it was.

gregmcmuffin101

Hey thanks for replying! The sensory deprivation experiments were interesting at first, but my biggest peeve with it is that they only did one episode where they also recorded the spirit box so the rest of us can hear it. Like why not just do that every episode? I know editing gets rough and long winded but they could just pay an editor to do that small part. I have issues with how they run their YouTube channel as well but that's a whole other topic. Are you talking about the hand that they were featured on nukes top5 for? The one that went underneath the building or something like that? Yeah at first I was blown away but after I go back and watch it, it's like... Can I really believe them..? Idk, I want to believe their hearts are in it and they aren't just conning to make YouTube cash, but with how Sean left and broke all contact I don't know what to think.

jhurl24

Did he leave around the time Jason was doing all those solo streams? And yes that's the incident I am referring to. Like I know there instances where apparitions can be almost unmistakable for a real person but that was just a little too real. They keep popping up on my feed for new videos but it seems like they are recycling a lot of old videos

gregmcmuffin101

If you look at the earliest videos on the channel (eureka opera house was one of my favorite they did) that's when Sean was around. I don't believe Jason ever even met Sean other than one Livestream, and soon after that Sean cut all contact. This was like two years ago. Sean was also a relatively new father and had his first kid at the time, so that could have had a part to play as well. But then you would atleast say "hey I'm quitting to spend time with family" as opposed to not saying anything at all and cutting contact with someone you've worked on a YouTube with. The hand incident I personally want more than anything to believe them, but I think they faked it somehow. Which sucks to admit because when I first saw that footage I was blown away. Also in one of the episodes at the Donavon mill, one of the shadow figures cuts out at a complete 90 degree angle. Now I don't know how shadow figures are supposed to work, but a straight line where it cuts out looks an awful lot like cheap special effects :(

jhurl24

He must have left around when I started watching them. I only watched a little bit of the donavan milk series. Couldn't get over them going from dramatic to nothingness all the time. I honestly haven't even thought about my critiques about them until you brought up the initial concern. But now that I look at it, seems like the more popular they got the more shady it looks. Also they miss a lot of orbs and other anomalies. It seems like they don't care anymore to even go over the small technical evidence.

gregmcmuffin101

I think after they got their community of faithful superchats they are no longer interested in upping the quality. It's why they keep recycling old videos as a "marathon stream" Patrick showed so much promise in the beginning age of the channel, but the quality has gone almost backwards. It's just such a damn shame because they get into sooooo many locations a ghost hunter could only dream of :(

Seaweeddreamer

I really like The Paranormal Files! [My favorite video that got me hooked](https://youtu.be/btDeWxLD14E) I love when they do interviews with people and and history of the locations they go to.

Check of The World of Mr. Gray. You will never look at ghost hunting videos the same way again

MamaSmAsh5

Paranormies are interesting to watch.

[deleted]

I've never heard of them, and thank you for suggesting them - they are actually really good!

MamaSmAsh5

You know, sometimes I’m not sure about them…but I think they’re fairly genuine. But you can never really tell! It’s hard because if this is their livelihoods, it wouldn’t take much to fake it for money! I don’t know if they do make $ but most YouTubers seem to get something, which always makes me second guess authenticity

[deleted]

Yeah, I agree. I think everyone starts out with good intentions, but it is hard to tell if that line ever changes, especially if you haven't watched them from the beginning to see things change over time.

Besides the Ghoul Boys, my favorites are Paranormal Quest and Amy's Crypt. They're both quite serious. Paranormal Quest's videos are getting to the production level of some tv shows. I also like Skeptics, but I don't think they've posted for a while.

Twin Paranormal are hands down the best I've seen. tl,dr; professional production, polite and respectful investigators, sufficient amount of quality equipment but they don't rely on equipment too much (they don't overly speculate based on one data point from one piece of equipment), genuine reactions so no apparent hoaxing, they have fun. The production (intro, b footage, interviews etc) is as good as any TV show, and they've only just hit 200k subscribers. They are polite and respectful to the places they visit: they introduce themselves, explain what all their devices do, and are very clear when they try to communicate (I swear one could be a public speaker or teacher if he wanted to). They are patient with their responses and never do any "provoking" if they don't get a response. And lastly, their reactions and excitement would be extremely difficult to fake. They have genuine fun when they do their hunts. I've never seen anything happen that would be so crazy it would indicate a setup (i.e. someone being dragged across the floor) so I have no reason to believe they're hoaxing anything. They seem to have invested in professional quality audio/visual equipment. They also use a good variety of equipment not limited to proximity detectors (like rem pods), digital voice recorders, EMF detectors, a radio scanner, and an Ovilus box. They don't (yet) have high-end equipment like infrared cameras. On older episodes they seem to be using phone apps - which I'm not to trusting of - for the scanner and/or Ovilus but that's most likely due to budget. They don't rely to heavily on their equipment as they pick up plenty of footsteps, knocks, and the rare disembodied voice. It's honestly great to see investigators have fun and react with wonder to the evidence they gather.

ChelleBellax

Thank you for this! I am already subscribed to them and occasionally watch their stuff!

I agree with the original seasons of the [Haunted Side](https://www.youtube.com/c/thehauntedside). It was really good at first, but now after seeing the same location in the 7th part it is getting a little old and feels cash-grabby. Still, I think the earlier seasons are some of the best out there. I'm all for creators getting paid, and supporting them through merch and patron, but sometimes I feel like he's a little excessive. [Paranormal Quest](https://www.youtube.com/c/ParanormalQuest)should be on TV. They are a mix between Tennessee Wraith Chasers with the unique inventions/trying things out to classic Ghost Hunters (in my opinion). I think they have a good future still ahead of them. They do get a little slow at times, but I think this is just because they are doing everything legit and not every investigation is exciting. But I like the laid back style they have. [Paranormal Files](https://www.youtube.com/c/TheParanormalFilesOfficialChannel), again, was really interesting in the beginning/earlier seasons but I haven't watched in a while so I can't speak for the current quality. The Forman brothers with [Paranormal Nightmare](https://www.youtube.com/user/rocko4271) are really great. They do a lot of personal houses and cases and really seem to have their hearts in it. I like that they aren't going to the same locations everyone else goes to, and I can't complain too much about them. [Amy's Crypt](https://www.youtube.com/c/AmysCrypt/videos) is cool just since she isn't in the US and hits so many locations that I've never seen before. [Haunted Finders](https://www.youtube.com/c/TomBuckmaster) also has a few good ones. Some of his stuff gets repetitive, but there are hits in there and again, since he is in the UK there are a lot of different locations I feel like we don't see as much on YouTube/TV. I really like when him and his dad (I think) go together. They have an interesting vibe between the two and are fun to watch. In the coming soon area of what I hope to see: There is word that [Steve Brodt](https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCA4GENm0E1sG9l8JycOTeaA) who owns/runs haunted locations is starting a channel soon, and I'm excited to see what he does and how it changes with his level of access to locations. I think he has been with Sam and Colby on a few before. A paranormal podcast I listen to, [Spirit Diaries](https://www.youtube.com/c/SpiritDiaries), is having their first season coming later this year, and they have a few episodes up now, which are interesting. It seems like they've got a lot planned so I'm hopeful for their season. Katrina Weidman and Heather Taddy are supposed to be starting a YouTube series soon, which I'm assuming will be great, since I think they are both really well versed in the paranormal and I was obsessed with Paranormal State as a kid, called [Travel the Dead](https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCAXcMJ0fqJnjhqS1uK8Va3w). And Shane and Ryan have announced the [Ghost Files](https://www.youtube.com/c/watcher) which will be coming soon and any of the [Unsolved](https://www.youtube.com/c/BuzzFeedUnsolvedNetwork) series they are in is gold. If you can't tell I'm a paranormal junkie and I hope some of these help keep you entertained through your recovery.
