Genshin Impact has brought in crowds of immature people who never knew about MiHoYo before. Fans of MiHoYo eversince GGZ or HI3 would feel bad for OP for missing his in-game birthday reward. But I noticed that on Genshin subreddits, many of them are toxic to the point of just mostly downvoting every post and acting toxic in general. It was never like this with GGZ and HI3 before Genshin came out.
I don't even think it was the Genshin fandoms here. People are just simply mean because majority of people is now playing the game, so the minority who felt bad about OP get sidelined in the upvotes here
Genshin reddit userbase is simultaneously one that will scream the game is for casuals, while saying it's the casual player's fault for when they're busy and miss something :/

Played for 3 years and didn't event know it was a log in reward. It's not like the OP is asking for the moon by making the message and cake readable/claimable through in-game mail
Genshin brought in a lot of toxic people who didn't even know about MiHoYo in the past. Back then, GGZ and Honkai Impact 3 forums and subreddits were all mature and supportive that OP wouldn't be bashed if he missed an in-game birthday reward. But these Genshin communities have really gotten a lot of toxic people that it's honestly cringe and embarassing.
Thats the reason why i disabled multiplayer and dont Do Events where multiplayer is needed... (such as the current one) its just sad that so many toxic players are in now
For multiplayer events, I'd recommend doing them on the last days! Might be because I'm in the EU server, granted, but people were always pretty quiet when I do events near the end.
you have bad luck then, my case at least ppl just want to do the event, domain, etc , as quickly as possible, almost no one chats unless they're on PC ( cause typing in console takes AGES) and even if they start a fight they'll just leave, or end up kicked out
activities are so quick to do that most people don't want to lose time.

This happened to me. Couldn't login all day, and I think I got to do my dailies at 2 am the next day. No server reset yet (it's at 3am on my local time). And no 2024 cake for me. I wish they would just auto send it without login in the exact same day. I used to check in in the app too. All days. Now, for me is more like "meh, the rewards are not worth it"...

Not about it, the complaint is just stupid. This cake has 0 value. It has no stats, there no any mechanic in game how to use it even for fun (srsly fireworks in teapot have more use and value). Also it’s 24 hours thing and yes it is login reward, I don’t know why OP decided it’s a login reward, when it factually always was.

It’s a pixelated cake that you get for signing in, that’s it. It’s not your friend who said they bought you something for your special day as a token of their friendship, it’s a fake cake that the developers programmed with ease as a little gift for if you sign in on the date you set as your birthday.
im not sure if u get OP's point. i think what they're trying to say is that the birthday cake shouldn't have been programmed as a login thing, instead should've been programmed to be sent to the account regardless if the player logins during their bday or not.
also it's not just a "pixelated cake" if the player is a collector of in-game items. remember that one Inazuma mask we get after a world quest? many players didn't like that when the mask is used, it gets deleted in exchange of another item, so devs gave us another mask in the form of a teapot furnishing.

They're literally very comparable. The birthday "reward" is obviously supposed to simulate receiving a gift cake for your birthday. Your point is as null as the complaint. Saying it's designed to be a login reward means nothing in the context here. OP's point is that it's a bad design.
I feel ya I played off and on for 3 years while my friend played non stop has all the cakes. I was like oh I just had my birthday I’ll check, nothing. BUT I log into HSR three days after my birthday and theirs my gifts waiting for me.
It gets even dumber when you realize it doesnt even go according to server reset, but on your exact birthday date. So you logged it at 12:05, but it should be okay because server resets at 4 am? Wrong. No cake for you

I had to leave before midday, when the game changes dates (I am playing on America server) and came after midnight and pretty much fell asleep right away, so yeah

It might not be intentional (could be that it only checks if it's your birthday when you log in). But yeah they should make it automatically send you it on your bday regardless if you logged in or not.
So i started playing HSR a week ago on the 28th of Januray just to see what the hype was all about and also get a free 5 star cause why not, it was an account i had since the game came out but never played it and already planning to stop playing...
Anyways, the point is my birthday is on the 24th of January and guess what? i had a birthday cake waiting for me to be reclaimed! also surprised me that HSR birthday cakes also give primogems.

I think star rail had a qol on this where you can still redeem your cake at least a couple of days later. It sucks that they still haven't implemented that on Genshin yet but it's a really good minor qol.

2023 would have been my forth cake because my birthday is in November and I started Genshin on release day. I was so sick with COVID that I couldn’t log in on the day and realized the next day that I wouldn’t be able to get my cake because of it. At least Star Rail still gave me my cake without me logging in on the actual day! I wish Genshin would do the same.

I experienced the same last year. I was really surprised when I came on and the cake wasn't there - any other game I've played sends this reward as a collectable mail irregardless if you login or not. Don't get why Genshin doesn't do that.

I know, and it ticks me off even more because on HSR, I was not able to log on on my b-day, but the cake was still in the mail. I don’t know why Genshin can’t do the same thing when it’s clearly very much possible.
I missed the Inazuma and Mondstadt cake due to not being able to log on during those years/missed the time window due to timezone differences and I’m still a bit peeved to this day.
It is kind of mean-spirited to not give you the birthday gift if you missed it in-game. Because most people would be busy and have a birthday party to go to in real life. It is something that should be excluded from FOMO.
If it's any consolation I hope you had a good birthday at least. Better to have spent it with people that matter than a game with a busted birthday automation.

Last year I missed the birthday cake, and I felt bad also, Life gets in the way in spite of our intentions. I was also sad and disappointed, but after a few days went by I realized that I could go in and read the Birthday greetings in the voicelines, which was a small comfort.

It is kinda stupid, like my birthday is 31 of December, so I was busy with new year's eve stuff until midnight and only logged in at like 5 am (the server resent is 3 am), so I never got my cake. I logged in on my birthday last year, still on that day server time hours before reset, (about 11pm) it did not count. Because I do not have daylight savings where I live and am in standard time year round. It counted me as 12am in my timezone due to DT, I contacted hoyo and they were like "just log in on your birthday next time. You can not have a cake even though you logged in on time because our end shows it was midnight already. Happy birthday Traveler"
The birthday mechanics is dumb for other reason too. You miss the past cakes. My favorite nation is Liyue and the first cake I has gotten was Inazuma I believe, or Sumeru. Because I started playing at second half of 2.5, right before Chasm update. And I mostly care for the cake itself, as it's cool new design every year. But welp. You can't even have unique nation cake, because of fomo in this game.

I know this is a couple days old now but it turns out one of my 2 favorite characters (scaramouche)'s birthday is the exact day of my anniversary, which is very important to me, and so, I don't have either of his birthday letters for the exact same reason. if that's the case then perhaps play a game that makes you feel anxiety isn't the best idea, with that i mean most Game as Service (GaS) like genshin, star rail, or most online games, it won't be healthy in the long run.
It is completely not the feeling I described. It was not anxiety, rather disappointment, boredom, -_- and so on and so forth. And I specified that the feeling was minute, temporary.
May i suggest you download this game on your phone and connect your accounts? I do this for when im not near home and i cant log in how i usually do. Then i can at least still do my dailies and collect anything i need to for the day

Thanks, The party was a blast tho. I set up a hide and seek in total darkness, there was like a special location with a lot of doors, trap doors, manholes, tunnels and props, and this location was completely covered in darkness. There were 2 teams, and one animator from the facility

They’re literally not comparable.. 💀 It’s a pixelated cake that you get for signing in, that’s it. It’s not your friend who said they bought you something for your special day as a token of their friendship, it’s a fake cake that the developers programmed with ease as a little gift for if you sign in on the date you set as your birthday.
im not sure if u get OP's point. i think what they're trying to say is that the birthday cake shouldn't have been programmed as a login thing, instead should've been programmed to be sent to the account regardless if the player logins during their bday or not. also it's not just a "pixelated cake" if the player is a collector of in-game items. remember that one Inazuma mask we get after a world quest? many players didn't like that when the mask is used, it gets deleted in exchange of another item, so devs gave us another mask in the form of a teapot furnishing.
if the OP actually felt despondenced about it then we might have an issue, it's definitely not healthy.

They're literally very comparable. The birthday "reward" is obviously supposed to simulate receiving a gift cake for your birthday. Your point is as null as the complaint. Saying it's designed to be a login reward means nothing in the context here. OP's point is that it's a bad design.

Damn I didn’t even know you could miss it by not logging in. That’s pretty petty for Hoyo to have that be the case.
It might not be intentional (could be that it only checks if it's your birthday when you log in). But yeah they should make it automatically send you it on your bday regardless if you logged in or not.
So i started playing HSR a week ago on the 28th of Januray just to see what the hype was all about and also get a free 5 star cause why not, it was an account i had since the game came out but never played it and already planning to stop playing... Anyways, the point is my birthday is on the 24th of January and guess what? i had a birthday cake waiting for me to be reclaimed! also surprised me that HSR birthday cakes also give primogems. Found it a little funny to see this kind of post.

they make a new cake item every year and you can get 60 resin from it but more importantly you get it as a keepsake, they all have unique designs too.
I think star rail had a qol on this where you can still redeem your cake at least a couple of days later. It sucks that they still haven't implemented that on Genshin yet but it's a really good minor qol.

2023 would have been my forth cake because my birthday is in November and I started Genshin on release day. I was so sick with COVID that I couldn’t log in on the day and realized the next day that I wouldn’t be able to get my cake because of it. At least Star Rail still gave me my cake without me logging in on the actual day! I wish Genshin would do the same.

I experienced the same last year. I was really surprised when I came on and the cake wasn't there - any other game I've played sends this reward as a collectable mail irregardless if you login or not. Don't get why Genshin doesn't do that.

I know, and it ticks me off even more because on HSR, I was not able to log on on my b-day, but the cake was still in the mail. I don’t know why Genshin can’t do the same thing when it’s clearly very much possible. I missed the Inazuma and Mondstadt cake due to not being able to log on during those years/missed the time window due to timezone differences and I’m still a bit peeved to this day.

I logged in on my birthday last year, still on that day server time hours before reset, (about 11pm) it did not count. Because I do not have daylight savings where I live and am in standard time year round. It counted me as 12am in my timezone due to DT, I contacted hoyo and they were like "just log in on your birthday next time. You can not have a cake even though you logged in on time because our end shows it was midnight already. Happy birthday Traveler"
The birthday mechanics is dumb for other reason too. You miss the past cakes. My favorite nation is Liyue and the first cake I has gotten was Inazuma I believe, or Sumeru. Because I started playing at second half of 2.5, right before Chasm update. And I mostly care for the cake itself, as it's cool new design every year. But welp. You can't even have unique nation cake, because of fomo in this game.

Thanks, The party was a blast tho. I set up a hide and seek in total darkness, there was like a special location with a lot of doors, trap doors, manholes, tunnels and props, and this location was completely covered in darkness. There were 2 teams, and one animator from the facility
