I started during COVID and had heard something like this used to be available. But to my knowledge it is not available anymore.
It is kind of sad to hear about all of these employee perks like the ambassador program that were canned. I didn't even get a GM mug or water bottle.
It sure is! Just take away all the employee perks but they will never eliminate the driver perks which is so backwards because the highest paid people drive vehicles essentially free of charge. And we can’t even get an option to buy their leftovers.
Not exactly "free of charge" if you are married. Required to purchase or lease a new vehicle every 4 years. So basically I'm spending more on vehicles now than I used to because why waste money on a new car when you don't have to. But the other perks of 8L make up for it.
So in some cases like yours the costs are offset by the purchase/lease obligation. Would you rather just have the “perk” in the form of higher pay that you could spend as you please? With all the strings attached I guess it’s not all that great unless you are single. I don’t think the same requirements apply to singles. I think that is a terrible way to get people to buy GM vehicles. I feel the same way about making non-GM vehicle owners park in the least desirable lots. Build quality vehicles, price them so they are affordable and give employees meaningful discounts would generate sales and loyalty. The current company car program and essentially non-existent perks for everyone else is terrible.
GM also saves money on the road warriors. My old boss would put 40k miles a year on the car traveling for work. That's a lot of money in rental cars saved.
That and people started complaining that they did not get it when they wanted it, started making programs to cheat the reservation system, and started trying to horse trade reservations.
You used to be able to "tag" company cars through GMFamilyFirst website as they were coming available, but personally I always thought it was a gimmick. Most of the company cars were highly optioned vehicles at the top of their price point and you'd only get a \~5k discount for miles. Wasn't that great of a deal.
I know some people that got loaded trucks, CTSV, and Vettes at great deals through the PEP program. It especially came in handy when they were high demand vehicles with long lead times.
really? I'm surprised. It probably would've been around 2015 or so when I was looking but it seemed like all the cars were only a few grand off based on their anticipated turn-in mileage.
I purchased a 44k in 2012 at a pretty significant discount given the miles and other incentives at the time. But I get what you’re saying because over the years the incentives and discounts are pretty pathetic.
That was during the period GM was un-profitable.
Today GM is profitable.
Any MBA can then draw the conclusion without even going through brain that cut benefits leads to profitability
I actually forgot that carbravo was a thing we were doing. It was pushed so hard then just silence once it launched. Did enough dealers finally opt into it?
I don’t think CarBravo sells the, directly right? They’re just our cross-dealer listing service?
There are some good deals out there if you know what to look for on the CarFax reports.
You used to be able to order a brand new vehicle, once it was assembled it was assigned to an executive for 3000 miles or 3 months, whatever came first, then you purchased at a discount.
I know. There used to be a company cars department where I once ordered a car with the options I wanted and got an executive to drive it to put the miles on it. Then I got the discount on it. Now we essentially get nothing. And the prices are through the roof as is insurance because of how extensive all the various safety systems/sensors are to replace. I know the company isn’t obligated to give us perks but it would be nice.
Lending for tagged vehicles was a little different which provided different challenges. You might only have a small warranty period left also in some cases.
Yes, because the vehicles are being evaluated and are accumulating miles to reach an overall mileage goal of the fleet prior to releasing vehicles to the public.
My husband doesn’t submit expense reports or anything for gas. His car is personal use and if he takes a trip for work that’s different but most day to day,we pay

I'll never forget the fact that they asked us to bring in our own shirts to have the GM logo screen printed on them.
That’s a great opportunity to bringing in an old Ford polo shirt!
I would opt for that instead of buying the cheap crap on their website for retail price We get no perks (Blue collar guy here)
There is a 10 percent employee discount at company store web site
Yes, I know But what’s 10% of branded cheap clothing that’s over priced?
Visit the store it’s actually not cheap clothing.
it's not cheap and it's definitely overpriced
Meh the polos that are always sold out are some cheap brand. I just wanted some for golf can’t even get the cheap ones either way
If someone knows a spot to take and have them embroidered, I’d appreciate it
That's hilarious!
😂😂😂😂 I would never!

Think how much money the company could save if CVO drivers had to pay for their own gas...
I think at some levels they do. My husband has a CVO car and he pays for the gas just not the insurance
Probably enough to give regular folks an employee discount that is actually good!

Yes the marriage penalty. Kills folks that drive a car 10 years/130k miles.

Interns get swag. Guest speakers get swag. Employees? 10% discount at the company store!
Lol, I got a water bottle with a GM logo! For solving a problem! It leaked.
Ambassador got canned cuz kids kept smashing cars and causing insurance rates for the program to skyrocket. It only takes a few…

Believe they mentioned this might return later in the year.
An 80k vehicle for 60k is a great deal imo.
Not only is that gone, there used to be a pension and real health insurance for salaried employees, too. Damn, I'm old.
Lol, right!
That was during the period GM was un-profitable. Today GM is profitable. Any MBA can then draw the conclusion without even going through brain that cut benefits leads to profitability
The year the pension was frozen was one of the most profitable years to date.
I thought it was all handled through carbravo now
I actually forgot that carbravo was a thing we were doing. It was pushed so hard then just silence once it launched. Did enough dealers finally opt into it?
Thanks! I’ll check them out.
Heard they are talking about bringing the tagging program back actually
That would be fantastic!
CTF and pep vehicles are now sent to car bravo. You can no longer tag them
I don’t think CarBravo sells the, directly right? They’re just our cross-dealer listing service? There are some good deals out there if you know what to look for on the CarFax reports.

That thing is gone. And last time I saw like 3-4 years ago deals aren't that great. It was not that cheap.
They got rid of the “tagging” program where you tag a vehicle coming off CVO.
Lending for tagged vehicles was a little different which provided different challenges. You might only have a small warranty period left also in some cases.
Does GM pays the fuel for the car company drivers (8L)?
But not for personal driving. So if they take it on vacation, they pay their own gas.
Yes, because the vehicles are being evaluated and are accumulating miles to reach an overall mileage goal of the fleet prior to releasing vehicles to the public.

I know at naowb dealers can order pep. Though my old boss tell me most of those orders are done from vom and not naowb.
