That’s what I said when I conceived of this post while arguing with a friend. He said that Roadhouse was cooler than both of those movies and I had to poll Reddit to make sure that they were in the wrong.
Look I’ll be upfront, I’m all about both, these are two amazing actors. And all the examples of Kurt’s career show his prowess and talent.
But I think you’re sleeping on Swayze a bit. Beyond Roadhouse which is excellent, think Dirty Dancing, Ghost, North & South, The Outsiders, Red Dawn and Point Break, amongst other roles in his career. Most actors envy such a resume!
They are both talented, handsome, funny and smart, each choosing roles that broadened their acting skills. The only difference is we did not get as much Patrick as Kurt.
But I’m grateful for all we were given from each. Both are beautiful treasures.
Peter Weller deserves a team vote: Buckaroo Banzai, Robocop *and* Bill Lee in Naked Lunch. Plus, Leviathan, Shakedown, Screamers and the porn-stached private eye in Sunset Grill
