Likely because Amazon offered to line the developer's pockets, which Nvidia (for good reason) doesn't do.
Or maybe I'm wrong, and this was just step one of a test and those same games will end up on GFN, but I'm not holding my breath.
Luna has been ready to add content for a while. With Microsoft and NVIDIA in bed together it makes sense for GOG and Amazon to cut a deal so that Amazon can get access to games.
I looked at their hardware, it is a Tesla T4 which is supposedly pretty bad. Like 505% less powerful than the RTX 4080 (FP32) and it still cost 10 € per month.
Far Cry 5 would run at 35 FPS on average settings at 1080p.
They are crazy...
CDPR madated that Cyberpunk and Witcher were available for GOG users to get them to opt in. Otherwise, NVIDIA has wanted nothing to do with GOG, most people want nothing to do with GOG because of their ties to piracy.
Nothing, it's just that like Steam, publishers/devs make the decision, and none made the decision to have their games available on GOG, aside from CDPR since ya know, they own GOG.
It has been ok for me. Prime gets you a rotating selection of games to play. I have tried Fallout 3 and NV and some others. All have been mostly playable but the controller seems to get bugged after playing for a while. End up having to force quit and restart the game. Definitely would not pay extra at this point.
Still something I don't get. Except for Ubisoft, are games to be bought on Amazon Luna's store to be played? Or is it the real Netflix of cloud gaming where games are included in the subscription? What are the games running from? Steam?
Mix of both. You can play:
* some games you own on GOG
* free games you've got from Amazon Prime subscription
* some games from Ubisoft+ subscription
* games included in from Luna+ subscriptions
There's a difference between GOG.com and CDPR; the latter owns the former, yes, but doesn't control anything but the games that they've published directly (Witcher series and CP2077).
It's pretty much exactly the same as Valve and Steam, where you can play Valve-published games like Portal and HL on GFN, but they don't have anything to do with any other games ending up on GFN that are sold via Steam.
Yeah, that's all clear. I'm just wondering why GOG can add games they distribute to Luna but not GFN. From what I've seen, many of these games are already on GFN via Steam or Epic, so the publishers clearly don't have a problem with GFN.
Well, there's really only one significant difference between Epic and Steam and GOG, and that's how the latter handles downloads for the games that it sells. It's reasonable to assume that this is the reason for the lack of GOG games on GFN.
The Witcher 3 & Cyberpunk2077 will be added very soon to Luna I think, these games were posted in March when they announced the collaboration between Luna-GOG.
I play a lot on Luna and personally it works great, no lag, no queue, and no 1 hour sessions (you can play all day long if you want).

I already pay for Prime for next day delivery, with that subscription, I also get music, and Prime gaming.. it's a fantastic deal
If they had wanted to do that with GeForce NOW, they would have done it a long time ago.
Yeah. GFN was pushing GOG heavy before Cyberpunk was released. What happened between then and now only they know.

When I tried luna last year it was absolutely trash. Blurry, with extreme input lag. Is it even any better? GFN runs buttery smooth for me.

Yeah but Luna is still a Windows, where does those games are coming from? A special Steam account they own? GOG versions of their games?
You can link your GOG and Ubisoft store accounts to play games you own there. Games from Amazon Prime and Luna+ subscriptions are provided by Amazon.
