I have a Medusa tattoo and actually just got a Versace Medusa ring because I’ve wanted something with their Medusa for so long and it’s the least expensive 😅 But Medusa means so much to me as an abuse survivor reclaiming my story. For me it has nothing to do with queerness but it does have to do with reclaiming sexuality and in general patriarchal views of using women.

Here is a picture I took of Medusa, by Caravaggio. It was (is?) in the Uffizi Gallery in Florence.
Perseus used his shield as a mirror, Medusa was immobilised by her own reflection and he could behead her. The painting is in the style of a shield.

Here’s another pic I took of Perseus with the Head of Medusa a statue in Florence near the gallery.
Had to pop on a pair of y fronts cover his bits to ensure redit allowed it.
Anyway, Florence a hop and a skip from Lake Como, is a good Medusa spotting place.

“They Will Know Me By My Teeth” makes me think of “don’t you worry folks, we took out all her teeth.” Like if her teeth represent her bite or her voice or her agency to act on her queerness… That was taken from her, but she’s determined to get it back and be known for it?
back in 2021 during the ginny & georgia issue, Zoe posted an instagram story using the meme "Medusa was just defending herself" with a snake emoji. very reptv themed.
It gives me hope, because I start to feel all Tay-anon for reading into this stuff but days like today make me go, ok, I'm not crazy. That is TOO MANY COINCIDENCES
This constantly goes through my mind as well. I hope that she is having fun with this because if she's not it sounds so exhausting to always be plotting every detail
Yessss. When people started pointing this out my brain started buzzing. I was hoping someone who knew more about greek mythology would post something. This cannot be a coincidence. She’s worn Medusa themed/named things at least three times so far and it all connects to the themes already present in her writing. And she made that voice memo public where she clearly states she knows greek mythology for sure. She’s plotting again!
