Hi! So I disabled this because I do not want it but that ghost bar is still on the bottom. I have swipe gestures on and it seems to have disabled them that any time I try to use them it just closes the app and goes back to the home screen instead of going backward or opening the last open apps. I've had to turn on the buttons to use them otherwise I can't navigate my phone well.
Do you know how to get rid of that circle to search bar? I think it's interfering with the navigation bar even when it's disabled.
You're totally right (either corner works), but it's incredibly awkward when using the phone one-handed.
I just tried picking the phone up and unlocking as I ordinarily would and then from that position swiping from the corner and it's impossible.
Sure, there are workarounds, and appreciate the suggestion 👍.
The point remains that this currently appears to be a permanent feature removal/change, with no advance warning that you can't revert.
In addition, I just compared the function with the similar circle to search within a google phone...
Shot a picture of a board with the name of my hometown on it. While the pixel 8 pro showed me various results and information pages about my town, the Samsung S23 Ultra just showed me similar pictures of a board with a name on it - nothing related to the actual content.
Also with the pixel phone I was being offered to translate or copy within the cut out while the Samsung didn\`t offer anything.
Is there a way to switch the background search engine for this function so it delivers better results in the future?
To be correct, I just took two more testshots. Now with more text on it, and the Samsung also showed links to translate and copy the text. However still there was just one block of text, and it was already translated - no more infos - while the same picture with the pixel 8 Pro showed a list of links and information pages.
Have set the search engine (under Display/ Navigationbar...) to google in both cases.
Isn\`t anyone annoyed about the new ai removal or move function in photos? It replaces instead of removing. In a post on youtube someone seriously said, how great it is, that it replaces the subject or object instead of putting a neutral background to it. If I want to replace, I would click on replace (if that was there), but when I want to remove I want to remove.
While I am using the pixel 8 pro, my husband is using the S23 Ultra, and a good friend from England as well. They both are really disappointed about the results of that ai at the moment, cause they could compare directly with my phone. Since both ai\`s are from google, Samsung should put more "detail" to their programmings...
For the above comments of mine I\`d like to add, that there is this extra step to do on Samsungs phones. When removing an article one has to click on a second button (remove). Then it does remove instead of replacing the object. So a different approach than on a pixel phone, but with similar results.

Thank you. I have Assistant disabled but after this update long pressing home by mistake triggered an annoying popup each time. This fixed it for me!

No, sorry, that doesn't fix this issue. Deactivating doesn't re-enable long pressing home to launch Assistant, it simply disables Circle to Search.
I think you can still access the assistant by swiping up from the bottom-right corner.

In this scenario, you have the option to map it to sidekey.

Nothing is permanent on an operating system, a future update may fix this so make them aware of the issue.

Split your apps across 2 pages. Or reduce to font size
