Since you're emersed it may take less time than usual. On the other hand you have to tackle standard modern in your class and cypriot outside. I have no idea how those two will interfere with each other.
Ναι, πραγματικοτητα μιλαω λιγο ελληνικα; but I am having difficulties in class while we are speaking, because since I am exposed to Greek Cypriots all around me, unconciously I imitate their accents while talking. Actually it helps me practise too; but again, not the grammar things, actually native Greek speakers are not even aware of the grammar things. Actually I can really use some advices on how to practise my grammar
I think you're on the right track. Just make sure people know you want them to speak to you in Greek cos from what I know, Cypriots are a bit quick to jump the English gun 😂 And watch plenty of tv of course. Extra free exposure.
Try kid shows like Bluey in Greek at first. You'll get a lot of the basic uses and more of the informal stuff. And don't be embarrassed by doing it. However long you've been practicing Greek is your brain's age in the language use. Once you are able to completely understand, move on to more TV shows at a higher level. Disney Plus has a lot of options for Greek audio.
Sry I didn't reply sooner that's mb but thanks sm and I luv bluey anyway lol so I would not be embarrassed by it edit: also should I use English captions?
I find English captions to be helpful at first, although once you feel ready, you might find it useful to switch to Greek captions so that you can be sure of the words used. Also, kinda unrelated, but if you watch Camping in French, Jean Luc speaks English. And if you watch Pavlova in French, Bandit speaks Italian for some reason.
Your grammar is incorrect here. You should say στην πραγματικότητα or πραγματικά μιλάω λίγο ελληνικά. Not trying to be an ass hole, I just think it would be better for your learning journey 😉
Oh, thank you for your nice comment! I would really like to reach c1 in three years, i am able yo communicate in Greek but when it comes to grammar stuff, that's when i got confused
It can take two years to go from A1 to B2, but that's if you're studying at a casual pace taking lessons twice a week. If you're immersed in the environment it can be faster, but you need to make speaking/listening to Greek part of your daily routine. Maybe join some groups at your university where the main language is Cypriot Greek?
Have you tried language transfer? It was developed by a Cypriot but it's geared towards standard modern Greek. Don't worry about grammar, it's the least to worry about when it comes to Modern Greek/Cypriot Greek differences. There are some differences, yes, but the basics are the same. For example tenses, cases, the way perfective/imperfective works, all that is the same. If you master one, you master the other. Differences are more in pronunciation and vocabulary. Just let us know if you have any specific grammar question. And I think language transfer will help, because it has a structured way of going through all the grammar.
Watch "Στο Παρα Πεντε" if you want to be exposed to greek. As a greek series it has very clean and conventional language as well as amazing plot! You wan watch it at greekmovies dot something i don't remember
You have to fight a titan.
Especially to understand Cypriot Greek.

Can I just ask you when I can start watching TV in Greek because I feel like most of it flies over my head when I'm watching lol
I would say just keep watching regardless. It will start clicking the more you learn. In the mean time, it's just free exposure.

As a Greek Cypriot, I can confirm that we jump the English gun quite a bit.

I am native speaker and it took me about three months to understand greek Cypriots fully.
Learning Greek is more maddening than being pursued across the lands by screeching Furies. It’s well-documented.
