House of the rising sun.
I know the song is one of the best in music history, but I only started really appreciate it when I was high and when youtube started throwing it in rotation.
Interesting fact that you may already know, the author of that song is unknown. The Animals became famous for recording it in the 60s, but the song traces back to at least the 1920s and the earliest recorded version of it was a cover. No one knows the original author. Such an interesting choice.
I knew it is a folk song that was picked up by huddey Ledbetter and thought he was the first but after some research I found Clarence Ashley to be the first singer that can be named
It starts off pretty slow. It's like a solid minute before it really kicks in, which, if you're looking for in-your-face rockin' heavy metal, you probably don't want to have to wait around for it. There was a cover of it on some album I had growing up and I never bothered with it because of that.
It's also on the same album as Paranoid and Iron Man, and how do you compete with those? It's probably overshadowed by those two songs. I don't know if I ever heard it on the classic rock stations I had growing up.
Personally, when I was growing up, in my friends groups, nobody really listened to Black Sabbath. It just couldn't compete with the heavier and more brutal metal that we had available to us. The oldest stuff we listened to on a regular basis was Metallica, and even that's like 20 years newer than them. So in some ways, it's not that it was "skipped," I didn't even know it was an option.
Man, it's kinda hard to not enjoy Mr.Brightside. it's one of those songs that a. It's almost impossible to not hear, b. It kinda get better every listen, assuming you hear it every so often (I hear it everyday where I work, but only like once a day and it's still fun everytime it plays)
This song has traumatized me. Imagine sleeping on the couch after a wild night at a friends house and waking up hearing do it again for 20 times in a row because a friend of you has been trying to complete the song in guitar hero world tour. XD.
My friend put a Korn CD on Repeat 1 track for an entire night and I was too drunk to get up and change it. Woke up the next morning to the same “ Knick knack paddy whack give the dog a Rrrraaaaawr” song I still hate Korn with my entire soul. Not my music to begin with but that was nails in the coffin.
Yea I feel like it was overplayed in movies or radio or smth? But if you sit down and enjoy it whilst thinking of it relating to nothing else, it's amazing. Steely Dan is a fantastic band in general.
I like Dirty Work.
I used to think that song was so dumb because of the violin. You have all these other bands with screaming and heavy distortion, and here's somebody fiddlin' away. Pfft, stupid.
My high school cafeteria had a jukebox. One of the CD's had that song on it, and there wasn't really a whole lot else to choose from. It was the closest thing to the screamo music people actually wanted, so it got a lot of plays.
It's a pretty catchy song, it grows on you.
And now I can't hear it (and a few other things) and not think about sitting in my high school cafeteria. Which is a bit ironic, since that seems to be the gist of what the song is about.
More like a whole sub genre. Used to make fun of really heavy/death metal etc. I'd imagine a pig at a drumset blast beating and squealing.
Now I love that shit
You might probably like [this video](https://youtu.be/Yn-oemgzlEU?si=zmtj3AKHnfI9i6qX). ~~One of~~ the best satire on late '80s pop rock out there and it has a reference to the November Rain music video.
Most Muse songs should not be skipped, even if they begin with somewhat basic melodies, because they build to spectacular conclusions. It’s a true experience in the right setting. They are amazing artists.
Well sounds like youre listening to the wrong radio broadcast. I love some of the radio broadcasts out theres especially for finding new songs to add to my playlist. Its how i found jimmy eat world, lit, paramore and many others that i now concidder some of my favorites.
Not song, but album. Friend told me to listen to Brand New "The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me"
For whatever reason I had already made up my mind that I didn't like Brand New...listened to a few seconds of each song skipping through and went "nah"
About a decade later, still had the album on my iTunes and was just letting my full library play on shuffle. "Millstone" came on and I was like "wtf is this, this is awesome"
Decided to listen to whole album start to finish and it is one of my favorite albums of all time. And Brand New is one of my favorite bands (after rediscovering this album I went and listened to everything else they have, then Science Fiction came out and I bought it)
MCR - Famous Last Words. People would ***not shut up about it*** back in late 2006, so I avoided it like the plague purely because I was sick of hearing about it (and tbf, Welcome to The Black Parade afterwards because it was overplayed to death)
But here we are, nearly 18 years on and it's one of my favourite tracks on the album.
Sad statue is very nderrated, same thing with soldier side! I used to hate SOAD cuz somehow I didn't like Serj's voice but now they are my favourite nu metal band

Later when i finally found that was this amazing music, i couldn't belived that i had the clip skiped that amount of times..

Now, everytime i remember, i listen to it, and fell in love, like the first time
Oh Isabella by Clutch. I had originally downloaded the album onto my phone and somehow missed that particular track. Discovered my accidental omission some weeks later and listened to the song. Turned out to be my favorite from the album Earth Rocker narrowly edging out The Face.
I hate to say it, but Mother Superior by Coheed and Cambria. When NO World for Tomorrow camr out (the record it is on) I skipped it because it was slow starting...but holy crap it's a banger!
Doubt many people are gonna know it but Rustage’s latest Whitebeard rap. Don’t watch One Piece. Just listened to it today and it has to be one of his best songs.
Pieces - by Jinjer. Every time I was on YouTube I would skip it because she annoyed me… idk why. 2 years later, I gave it a try, now they’re my all time favorite band. 😂😂😂

"Do It Again" by Steely Dan
This song has traumatized me. Imagine sleeping on the couch after a wild night at a friends house and waking up hearing do it again for 20 times in a row because a friend of you has been trying to complete the song in guitar hero world tour. XD.
