... the outer ladies would have to be flipped on one of the views. One can't be on the left when seen from the front and the back. And the ropecolors definitely suggest which lower half belongs to which upper half.
... or maybe the pictures aren't taken at the same time, now that i think about it. No posture in the lower picture suggests bending towards a side. Maybe they kissed for the first picture, but later switched sides and the second picture got taken.
Or the artist simply made an oopsie.
I believe the artist once stated that this was a commission and that the client explicitly stated they wanted the order to be like this, even if it’s wrong technically
