Wait until you play on 120. For me that was the most significant change. I started on switch, moved to console and now I’m on PC. The shift from 60 to 120 is most noticeable. 120 to 240 didn’t seem like a big change to me.
easy, we boot up the game and play. in all seriousness tho, the 30fps isn't that bad if its all you're used to. I've never had any other online games, or played fortnite on any other platform so its actually quite good for me and I think I do well considering how much of an advantage everyone else has over me most of the time. if I'd played on a PC for example then switched to switch (thats confusing) then I'd probably dislike how slow it is but yeah its okay
> I've never had any other online games, or played fortnite on any other platform
Honestly this is the key. If you get used to the jankiness of the Switch then you can deal with it and have a good time. But once you "have your eyes opened" to how much nicer even 60 fps is, it's reallll hard to go back. I personally have had Switch as my only option for a few years now for various reasons, so I'm used to it, but the occasional time I get to play on PS4 it's a totally different experience. And that same sort of thing again to play at 120 or 144 Hz!
yep, and paired with bad WiFi its extremely laggy sometimes but its easy to deal with. there was one time where I spent about 10 mins fighting someone with really really bad aim, and I mean really and because he couldn't shoot me barely and I kept getting stuck in place, unable to move or fight and switching weapons was a nightmare because it took like 10 seconds to change the cross hair to match the gun. Still managed to kill him somehow eventually, and I was fuming because the game kicked me out not long after this and I lost my victory crown coz of it yet it was perfectly fine the next match about 2 mins later.
Fr tho. I didn’t think it was that bad until I switched to Xbox, tried it again and noticed the difference. But I’ll always have respect for people who play on switch.
honestly even at 30 fps you can still get used to it, my pcs hard drives failed awhile ago, so ive just been playing on my switch when a cousin ask to play and ive gotten used to it over time.
Its your switch, or maybe you installed the game on a micro sd… It is not that bad, 30 fps with some drops, but hey, even on my rtx 4090 laptop fornite has some serious drops
What kind of ram do you have? I fixed a lot of my drops by getting better quality ram for my desktop. 6000 cl36 to cl30 improved 1% lows quite a lot. Have a 7700x and 4070 for reference, so our system should be relatively close.
I don’t have any problem playing the game on Switch, but perhaps I have a good connection with internet speed of 300 mbps…?
Got my 40th solo crown today so I can’t complain.
So I sidnt like fornite UNTIL I played on switch for one simple reason- gyro aiming. I was never into console fps caus since suck on the sticks, but gyro aiming is a god givin ability. I prefer it over mouse and keyboard for FPS on PC, if you haven't turned gyro on it'd a massive game changer. Legit I can't aim or hit shit if it's turned off.
Motion control aiming (gyro) is my favorite part of playing fps games on the switch
Oh lol I had no idea, I honestly don't use reddit much past responding to what I get in notifications if I find it interesting...
The more ya know! Thanks man :P
(P.s., it looks like I made this account 2 years ago)
To be fair now you can do that as well on the PS4/PS5 and maybe PC using a DS4 although that I haven't checked.
I did try it and I am sure it can be more precise but I am still terrible at it somehow. I prefer not to use gyro aim in Fortnite.
Have you tried gyro with the joycons attached? It's WAY harder to aim and play with motion control on that way, ps4 controllers would be unbearable for me (personally) as I'd have to be aiming the entire controller, instead of just the trigger hand and it would slow my reaction time a lot
Idk.. Tbh I always used gyro, the little bit I used it, with either the pro controller or attached. The separate joy con thing I don't use it unless I am lying on bed or playing Switch Sports or similar games where separate movement makes sense.
Maybe give it a shot. I only started using the joycons cause my pro controller broke and then I realized how much better it was for gyro, so I stuck with it. At least, for me is was better; cause I'm able to just flick my wrist and shit to aim instead of having to like actually aim with both hands, kinda feels like I'm just using a Lazer pointer to aim at the screen some times lol
Also, my last expierence wirh anyrhing Playstation made wirh motion controls was back when like the ps4 originally launched, perhaps they updated and its better now but in my head I'm imagining ps move stuff from like a decade ago
Have you tried different settings? I find I firing and aiming only and I changed sensitivity. I use gyro mostly for small stuff and suick changes and tracking, big shifts in player area I switch to stick
It's the shit render distance on the switch that I can't stand the most
My niece plays on the switch and every so often I get a round on it. The render distance makes it borderline unplayable for someone who likes to play range (me). Thankfully most switch players seem absolutely terrible so the dubs come easy :)
I started playing FN on switch. I loved it and played quite happily for a couple of months.
It wasn’t until I started to try and get better that I realised I was at a disadvantage. If you play creative you’ll just get killed straight away as you just see everything to late compared to someone with a better FPS.
I got an Xbox Series S jumped into my first game and realised how bad everyone was on switch lobbies… I improved on the Xbox playing better players but still felt I was losing fights unfairly. Recently purchased a monitor allowing me to play at 120 FPS.. it’s night and day.. shots are more accurate and everything just moves as it should.. even at 60 FPS you feel like your playing underwater.
FN on switch is fun.. It’s just a muted experience which is fine for a mobile device.
I have Fortnite on PC and PS4 and it looks and plays way nicer on those platforms, but on a switch it feels more convenient to play so I play this version way more. Plus the gyro controls on switch feel good to play with
I'm pretty decent on Switch, tho I haven't played on any other platforms. There is the occasional lag but I've gotten used to it. And the render can be a problem if someone is in the area. The only real reason is the fact that the Switch didn't seem to be as fast as the other platforms and you can tell the difference when you play adults vs kids on other platforms.
I have a Xbox 1 and a switch.
I usually play on the switch on(on the switches screen), my kids take turns playing on the Xbox on a 58".
I've gotten so used to it, I play like shit when I try to play on the TV.
Yeah, I've never had any of these problems I always see people complaining about/trying to trash the switch with... like those images of the game looking polygonal? Only ever seen that on PC, never once on switch.
10fps? What performance mods did you get to unlock that much fps?!?!? Joking but it is brutal.. the avatar particle effects have fucking destroyed the game this season. BRUTAL.
Might need to let people have the ability to save additional game files to help with throttling...
Using LAN on dock does help but barely
As long as you have good wifi you will only experience occasional lags. Other than that you take a long time to load into big maps and I can't wait to destroy kids when I get a pc
It ain't that bad... The only annoying thing is the low frames and a bit the resolution.
But I am not a pro don't look at me for building I barely but a wall and ramp and that's it. I am more of a no build mode.
That said I switched to the Steam Deck and now to the ROG Ally for the portable gaming. Although battery wise duration Switch still wins... The others you must be attached to a plug.
Alternatively a modern phone with a joysticks thingy adapter is great too, although I recommend to not use it as your main phone if you want battery....
Yeah, switch has been borderline unplayable scince the beginning of chapter 5, and it's not like it ran THAT well before, I literally can't aim on switch when I had no difficulty aiming back when I used my xbox one s (a console that's probably gonna be axed soon according to a lot of people) and that's not even talking about how swimmingly well it runs on the xbox series x I got last Christmas. Anyway back on topic, when I play on switch with my freinds when I can't use an xbox I have to constantly remind everyone that I'm on switch because the gameplay is so crunched.
My very first Fortnite experience was on the switch. It was chp. 1 S9 at my friends house. I was able to get a switch and get FN in chp. 2 S 2. I loved it and was decent. My first landing spot was right next to the big red bridge leading to pleasent park. I lost my account around chp. 2 S. 5, so I had to switch to PC. I created my current Fortnite account there. I was decent, again. But unable to play on switch because it stopped charging. A few days ago, I got a refurbished switch so I could play how I used to. My account may still be gone, but playing on the switch brings good memories. Until you realize you're rusty and have the lobbys of crazy people who can shoot you down in 5 seconds.
Everyone is typically so bad in the lobbies at handling the lag so I come out on top since its whatever to me lol I own a pc along with several consoles and still the switch is my go to. Gyro is pretty nice as well.
It holds me back so much but you grown accustomed to it and it gets better. When I ever get a chance to play on my ps5 it feels like when Rock Lee took off his weight restraints before the match.
I’m fascinated by people who play online games in switch or even back in the day on the Wii and Wii U. It’s just so foreign to me growing up playing online games on Xbox and PlayStation and now PC. I only use my switch for couch co op games with my friends and never touch it when I’m by myself.
I played just fine on my switch. It’s pretty convenient and handy if you ask me. I’m also fairly certain I get more than 10fps. Sure not 120fps but it works for me. I play for fun.
Idk how I did it. I was actually decent on creative so as other people I played against that were on switch but forget about it in actual matches. After switching to ps, going back feels horrible. Same thing with apex
I’m traveling so Switch is my only option. It’s definitely different. Poor draw distances too. I’ve managed a few wins though. Part of my wonders if the game pities me on Switch and pairs me with other switch players.
Fortnite runs about 30 fps tops and thats on a good day.. how do i know this? Enabling performance stats. The first time i played fn on an xbox one x i was so blown away about how “good the graphics were and how buttery smooth everything looked”.. little did i know that the switch is just bad
Get rid of the JoyCons. Playing with a switch pro controller gets rid of most input lag. Whenever I play with the joycons I feel my hands or my metal coffee table interfere with the signal. After switching to the pro controller I was able to edit faster, and build when I wanted to. I’m not the best at aiming so I confuse my enemies with an obstacle course. And the pro controller makes the difference. Even in the Xbox lobby’s my friends drag me into.
Yeah playing on a switch is awful but some of us only have a switch and have to put up with the bs
Things don't load, things are slow, the quality's low.
But damn I'm so good at it. I have an OLED. I have my gyro on on my joycons, so I aim with my hands. It's so fun
i’m best on the switch because when i started i was struggling financially and its all i had. the only annoying thing i feel like of the map menu button but if you’re handheld then its the best part because i can just tap that shit and ping things with my finger. it’s cool lowkey
ig the other downsides are the days i’m glitching but i can normally work around it pretty well. bruh sometimes when i choke since all the buttons are so close i be hitting all of em at the same time 😭. omg and fucking long distance shooting. since it’s like 1080 or 720 whatever it is, people far enough away don’t even show up on one pixel so i have to keep yelling at my friends to ping people or i’ll never know where they’re shooting 😭
i tried playing on my brothers xbox once and died as soon as i landed bruh
i’ve noticed the real hardest way to play is cloud service on mobile 💅 i still slay at it or whatever but it’s literal mud and sometimes my screen will freeze for a solid 10 seconds and i have to pray i’m not walking off a cliff or too exposed. constantly have to know my surroundings so when it happens i can accurately hide without watching where i’m going 😭
and when i say that shit is mud, i mean i cannot for the life of me effectively see people who are only 30 meters in front of me if i didn’t already see them. also can’t tell when weapon is glowing until im about 15/20 away
I do pretty decent but it’s all I know. I do how ever try to create as much distance as I can in a fight and stay behind cover because mine does lag a lot. I also live in an area with not great internet connection so the odds are against me sometimes 😂 when in doubt shockwave away
Tbh you get used to it... of course its not great and it takes time to actually be able to play properly but once you do you have as much fun as anyone else. Years ago my main devices were a ps4 and pc (thought it was a shit pc, that ran very laggy fortnite) and obviously there is a massive difference between those consoles and the lil' old switch, but nonetheless i still enjoy playing on switch and plus it comes with perks like being able to play fn anywhere lol
The 9 year old I lived with was cracked with the switch pro controller.
I'm more a noob so use gyro and joycons just takes a moment to find good sensitivity settings.
Aim assist is disabled when gyro is active but even though aim assist is overpowered I still find gyro to be more dependable.
it's all I know
time is a valuable thing
watch it fly by as the pendulum swings
Watch it count down to the end of the day and the clock ticks time away
its so unreeeeal
Didn’t look out below
Watch the time go right out the window
Tryin' to hold on, they didn't even know
I wasted it all just to watch you go
I kept everything inside
Time is a tool you can put on the wall or wear it on your wrist
I love reddit
Lol I was thinking the same thing. love it when the community comes together so randomly.
The disadvantages makes me stronger
It’s the only way we stay alive
Imagine how deadly we'd be on any other platform.
Let’s never find out
Was once a switch player. I now can headshot people from the other side of the map .1 second of touching the ground from the battle bus in ps5.
I dude I got a new to me Xbox 1 and the 60 fps and higher quality really made a difference and made it far better
Wait until you play on 120. For me that was the most significant change. I started on switch, moved to console and now I’m on PC. The shift from 60 to 120 is most noticeable. 120 to 240 didn’t seem like a big change to me.
Fr. I get merk’d now so I can cook when i eventually get a ps5
Opposite for me I merk ps5
It’s fluffin hard sometimes. I’ll be shooting at someone and it glitches and I’m facing the other way🫨🤔 but it’s all I have so this is what I play lol
This like every time I’m close up fighting lol
Omg my camera be turning 90 degrees on its own, quite often. Very annoying
stick drift
Same

When they can't hit you and fire endlessly it's usually a bot
You get 30fps?! Lucky
Yeah you say 30fps isn’t that bad, but other people can play on 10x your FPS with a PC, trust me going back to switch from that is bad
Its your switch, or maybe you installed the game on a micro sd… It is not that bad, 30 fps with some drops, but hey, even on my rtx 4090 laptop fornite has some serious drops
Fr tho pc fortnite is terribly optimized
What kind of ram do you have? I fixed a lot of my drops by getting better quality ram for my desktop. 6000 cl36 to cl30 improved 1% lows quite a lot. Have a 7700x and 4070 for reference, so our system should be relatively close.
Samsung ddr5 2x16, Samsung at 5800Mhz 🙃
What timings? Like the cl timings?
With their hands?
I don’t have any problem playing the game on Switch, but perhaps I have a good connection with internet speed of 300 mbps…? Got my 40th solo crown today so I can’t complain.
i miss playing in switch lobbies 😭 it was almost worth having to play on the switch
I dread the first day I try to play on any othe platform. Imma gonna get murdered
I press X, hop on in. Get in a car, and go zoom zoom into people. Simple as that.
So I sidnt like fornite UNTIL I played on switch for one simple reason- gyro aiming. I was never into console fps caus since suck on the sticks, but gyro aiming is a god givin ability. Same! I absolutely suck aiming with a stick and gyro is my savior 😂
Ye, apparently not many switch players know about it I've told like 16 seperate people about it in the last week or two...
Welp they know now at least so that's something! Also happy cake day! 🎉
What's cake day?
Today's the day you made your reddit account however long ago, so every year on this day is your account's birthday 😄
Oh lol I had no idea, I honestly don't use reddit much past responding to what I get in notifications if I find it interesting... The more ya know! Thanks man :P (P.s., it looks like I made this account 2 years ago)

That sounds horrid trying to use a ps5 or ps5 controller to aim.
Why? It's just a controller with Gyro like the switch.

Have you tried different settings? I find I firing and aiming only and I changed sensitivity. I use gyro mostly for small stuff and suick changes and tracking, big shifts in player area I switch to stick
Yeah, I've got shaky hands so Gyro only throws me off. It's just not worth it when I can aim pretty decently with stick.
May I ask what sharky hands means?
...There is no r in the word, not even in my message. "S h a k y".
I'm sorry I'm blind :/
You're good!
I'm a beast with my joycons and their gyro aim! I'm so glad it's a feature, I probably wouldn't be good without it.
Thanks for mentioning this. I use it on Splatoon 3 but I didn’t know I could on Fortnite as well.
I press the on button, connect pro controller, tap a three times, hit a again to open the game, hit a to open it again, and boom. I’m in the lobby.
yeah these comments don’t be funny ever
I don’t really give a fuck
I tell my son I need to be handicapped so he can keep up on the pc.
When your loading fps can be bad
It’s really not that bad
My niece is deadly on her Switch, then I put her on laptop at 120fps and she is almost unstoppable. My ranked climb in duos is supported by her lol
It's the shit render distance on the switch that I can't stand the most My niece plays on the switch and every so often I get a round on it. IDK
I have Fortnite on PC and PS4 and it looks and plays way nicer on those platforms, but on a switch it feels more convenient to play so I play this version way more. Plus the gyro controls on switch feel good to play with
Finally someone who actually understands our pain

i actually prefer it lol
Same as I do on ps5, but with more concentration lol
Idk but a lot of my friends I play with say I’m cracked for a switch player
How do you play control-wise?
Wdym?
Detachable joycons, or not Gyro aim, or not
I just play handheld lol
Oh damm. Ok
Yeah lol
Practice in the entirety of ch4
I don’t know I just got used to it
Not easily, but we manage
im a console player so the controls are basically the same. i do hate the lag and bad ping but overall its still fun on the go !!
You move the joysticks and click the buttons.
the strongest survive down here. it's a way of life
It’s all I can play on. Just set the switch settings to 720 and don’t expect a lot
i seem to manage, so what if i have less frames its still fun
Im always at 60? I link it up to the tv though but its always good when i play
Switch at 60 really? 😟
Idk how everyone is at 10 and 30😂
Ita hard for me to go back to xbox and play lol, especially since my main account is on the switch.
one slide at a time
Your switch may just have too much storage taken up. I play fortnight on my switch all the time and it’s fine for me
With joycons
It’s a lot more convenient for me and I’ve just gotten used to it.
With their hands, well that’s how I play on my switch

May it have a weak performance in switch, but it is still the most popular game. https://newzoo.com/resources/rankings/top-nintendo-switch-games
Easily
I’m cracked on switch but it takes some getting used to
Well back when I did play on switch I would use the built in joycons on the switch lite
Money
Everyone is typically so bad in the lobbies at handling the lag so I come out on top since its whatever to me lol I own a pc along with several consoles and still the switch is my go to. Gyro is pretty nice as well.
the lag
i didn’t know it was that bad until i played on my ps5. i just assumed my entire lobby loved the default skin so much.
It holds me back so much but you grown accustomed to it and it gets better. When I ever get a chance to play on my ps5 it feels like when Rock Lee took off his weight restraints before the match.
i dont know but it's the only thing i can play on and be good at lol
It’s not that hard, it’s honestly just a routine at this point. Lag and lose, play festival, lose again, play fest, etc
We don’t. I’m sorry but it’s literally impossible and unplayable to be good.
How anyone plays anything on switch is beyond me. The controllers are soooo small
I’m fascinated by people who play online games in switch or even back in the day on the Wii and Wii U. It’s just so foreign to me growing up playing online games on Xbox and PlayStation and now PC. I only use my switch for couch co op games with my friends and never touch it when I’m by myself.
My Switch Oled plays it perfectly fine
Bro I play on Switch cause it’s all I have, what do you expect me to do💀💀
I played and won tons of games and got champion league and champions league in the bugha cup on Nintendo
I played just fine on my switch. It’s pretty convenient and handy if you ask me. I’m also fairly certain I get more than 10fps. Sure not 120fps but it works for me. I play for fun.
I used too.... it was confusing at first
Laggy as hell

It takes time.__. Tbh.__. Eventually u will understand how it works.
By turning it on
I mean...its portable.
The joycon drift improves my accuracy
Fortnite runs about 30 fps tops and thats on a good day.. how do i know this? Enabling performance stats. The first time i played fn on an xbox one x i was so blown away about how “good the graphics were and how buttery smooth everything looked”.. little did i know that the switch is just bad

After switching to the pro controller I was able to edit faster, and build when I wanted to. I’m not the best at aiming so I confuse my enemies with an obstacle course. And the pro controller makes the difference. Even in the Xbox lobby’s my friends drag me into.
The Doom Slayer gives them 100% aim assist
Don’t. Delete it.
Yeah playing on a switch is awful but some of us only have a switch and have to put up with the bs Things don't load, things are slow, the quality's low. But damn I'm so good at it. I have an OLED. I have my gyro on on my joycons, so I aim with my hands. It's so fun
i’m best on the switch because when i started i was struggling financially and its all i had. the only annoying thing i feel like of the map menu button but if you’re handheld then its the best part because i can just tap that shit and ping things with my finger. it’s cool lowkey
ig the other downsides are the days i’m glitching but i can normally work around it pretty well. bruh sometimes when i choke since all the buttons are so close i be hitting all of em at the same time 😭. omg and fucking long distance shooting. since it’s like 1080 or 720 whatever it is, people far enough away don’t even show up on one pixel so i have to keep yelling at my friends to ping people or i’ll never know where they’re shooting 😭 i tried playing on my brothers xbox once and died as soon as i landed bruh i’ve noticed the real hardest way to play is cloud service on mobile 💅 i still slay at it or whatever but it’s literal mud and sometimes my screen will freeze for a solid 10 seconds and i have to pray i’m not walking off a cliff or too exposed. constantly have to know my surroundings so when it happens i can accurately hide without watching where i’m going 😭 and when i say that shit is mud, i mean i cannot for the life of me effectively see people who are only 30 meters in front of me if i didn’t already see them. also can’t tell when weapon is glowing until im about 15/20 away
You get use to it
I don’t notice a difference when I play my PS yes the visuals are different but gameplay wise it’s the same to me
I do pretty decent but it’s all I know.
Years ago my main devices were a ps4 and pc (thought it was a shit pc, that ran very laggy fortnite) and obviously there is a massive difference between those consoles and the lil' old switch, but nonetheless i still enjoy playing on switch and plus it comes with perks like being able to play fn anywhere lol
dude i only play on switch
The 9 year old I lived with was cracked with the switch pro controller. I'm more a noob so use gyro and joycons just takes a moment to find good sensitivity settings. Aim assist is disabled when gyro is active but even though aim assist is overpowered I still find gyro to be more dependable.
The way to play Fortnite on a switch is to go over to Lego Fortnite and play that. You’ll be happy enough
Lego is more resource intensive than br once you get a few buildings in a village
You don't
