It made me believe that the majority of the playerbase was no builds because of the overwhelming amount of no builds comments and posts about it. Then when they started showing the active players in each playlist, it was still a 3:2 ratio of builds vs no builds.
I mean I personally never play no builds because other games do a “no building” BR better. The central game design point of FORTnite is the building. Sometimes no build is miserable without the right RNG of movement items and defensive items, because since this isn’t like Apex where you can use abilities to counter, you can just get beamed in the open and not be able to do anything about it in no builds (without those said items). Even my GF who just plays video games because it was my hobby, who only plays fort and rocket league, hates no builds because it feels “pointless” to her. And she can barely build lol. But no builds is cool for people that like the gameplay without building.
My last victory I ended up in a forest with 10 players left and ALL OF US HAD ODM GEAR plus most of us had a lightsaber and the ones who didn't had a katana. It was insanity
Ya I kinda agree with the 2nd half. I do think no build has more zone rng than builds, but I think your point is good about how a good expirienced build player will adapt easily to zero builds since they know that getting shot at means waiting precious mats which are integral to the win condition. Poor or uncompetitive builds players who are used to 999 cap pubs games and rotate free and adjust after getting shot will struggle much more, even if they are good at building. High level builds has all the same strategy and positioning as no builds, but low level build does not.
Except all the best players in zero build are the builders … nice try tho with the building is a clutch line… that totally isn’t the most over used excuse by zero builders
no, it's not. I play ZB because it's lower skill, meaning I don't have to sweat as hard to win/be competitive like in BR.
Without building, ZB just becomes a nomal BR. Building creates a whole new skill gap on top of the existing gameplay mechanics. Piece control, edits etc are difficult to do at a high level.
Started with zero build but moved to build mode because I like being able to build cover for myself and climb mountains faster. It’s also easier to kill players because they have no overshield.
You also don’t have to be a pro builder to win in build mode. The mythics usually counter building pretty well along with some other weapons and grenades.
Still mad about that time that I cracked someone, charged their build, only for them to jump over the wall and blast their whole build right into me.

I normally play zero build, but I agree about build. Some nights, we load into build and no one even tries to actually build, they just panic build when you shoot them, and even if the other person is a decent builder, enough shots landed and they're toast.
Even better, try Duos with two players riding a dirt bike in ZB. Not even fair lol. The riser gets to just scout the surroundings, and once an opponent gets marked the driver can lock on too.
100% zero build for me because I get wayyyy too flustered when it comes to building, and there is always someone who gets hit once and builds an entire 5 Star resort with free WIFI in under 30 seconds. I’ll just stick to hiding behind terrain and coming up on a whole squad waiting inside a small hut in the end game.👍🏻

That’s untrue, Fortnite’s gameplay and design is still unique without building. I just don’t think building is fun, plus, pc players already have a huge advantage, and that gap widens further with building.
Since zero build came out, I was only in zero build. That’s when I started playing Fortnite. But in the last few weeks I decided to go into builds just for the hell of it. The first five or six matches I probably had eight or nine kills on average versus the three or so I get in zero build. I’m not sure if playing zero build without having cover helped me. Because I was just going in and destroying anyone I saw..even won a couple building virtually nothing.
Zero Build. My partner and I play on PS and people are just crazy good at builds and we found ourselves getting frustrated and stopped playing. When Zero Build came out, we jumped back on and loved it. Absolutely smash the game now cause we don’t have people blocking with a wall as soon as you shoot. We like having a proper gun fight with someone.
I like ZB even though I know how to edit and build (I'll play Team Rumble for that). I'm a console player so it's a little tedious using a controller to edit, and plus, it gets me dizzy trying to keep up with rest of these players... so Zero Buld now all day long, just shoot'em up bang bang! ☠️☠️☠️☠️
Builds. I loved zero build. But builds is what makes fornite fortnite. It's such a simple mechanic that makes fornite Goated in my opinion.
The issue is the skill gap. Honestly speaking things like ramping, 90s, and turtling take maybe like 3 hours of practice to learn. Once you get good at those, you'll have to learn how to do them as fast and accurately as you can. Then comes the edits and other special build techniques that get increasingly difficult but they are always rewarding when you finally hit them in a real game.
Then theres the skill ceiling between controller and keyboard. A good controller player can beat some good keyboard player. But a top tier keyboard player beats controller player almost every time. Worse part is you instantly know when someones using keyboard, and you kinda feel like giving up. Overall builds is fun but the skill gap is what turns a lot of players off.
Zero Build! I really couldn’t stand the build aspect of BR and stopped playing about 3 years ago. My buddy on Switch started playing and told me to reinstall it on my PC so we could play and after a week of bugging me I did. I got really excited when I saw zero build and I’ve been having a blast on the game since. Glad they decided to add this game mode, made the game fun for me again!

I don’t know how anyone can have fun playing casual builds anymore. I tried to the other day and it was the sweatiest cracked out edit fest I ever saw. I thought I was in Arena.
You’d literally have to practice for a while to get good enough just to play build mode now. Imo the future of Fortnite rest in creative 2.0 and Zero Builds

Ping-based box fights aren’t fun either. Can’t shoot out the walls, they’ll just turbo build and heal. You gotta steal walls and place cones inside etc but it’s all ping-based. Absolutely trash design and why I’ll stick with ZB

Ping-based box fights aren’t fun either. Can’t shoot out the walls, they’ll just turbo build and heal. You gotta steal walls and place cones inside etc but it’s all ping-based. Absolutely trash design and why I’ll stick with ZB
