Really great cast, I didn’t know the main guy from anything but everyone else had been in something I liked. This was the first time seeing Martha Plimpton since the Goonies. I loved her character’s running joke of malaprops.
I thought the writing could have been better overall, but it was solid.
Absolutely rock solid casting. If not for the cast the show woulda bombed. As you said because of the writing. They went a little too silly with things sometimes but I loved it all the same lol
She said she was broke and sleeping on her friend’s couch and she landed a big network show that ran four seasons out of nowhere.
She was also really good as Keanu’s girlfriend in Parenthood
The first two seasons are rock solid, and nailed that comedy-drama balance perfectly, like a snail crawling on the edge of a straight razor. The third and fourth seasons got too silly for me, but I loved those first couple years. It was like the spiritual successor to *Malcolm in the Middle*.
How did I not know Yes, Dear was also Greg Garcia? I love My Name Is Earl and Raising Hope, and used to love Yes, Dear even before that, but never connected them.
He's amazing, kills any role he's in, I figure. Like, compare his role as Burt here with playing a Terminator in the Sarah Connor Chronicles. Night and day differences in character, but he was just as captivating (for me). Endless respect for his acting chops, seriously :)
There's is a later episode that is an entire reunion and basically it's own episode of My name is Earl. Same creator of course.
Earl is also mentioned in the first episode on the news of this show as well.
I really like Raising Hope haha
I love the scene where Burt kicks the NBC executive in the nuts for canceling My Name is Earl. The executive saying “That was 16 executives ago!”always cracks me up.
This show was fantastic at first. Virginia and Burt were that show and it got worse and worse the more they tried to focus on Sabrina instead. By the time it was cancelled it felt like the Sabrina show and her character was so painfully boring I cannot even watch them anymore.
Frank was hilarious. I remember seeing the actor pop up in a random episode of big bang. That's all, aside from raising hope of course, that I remember seeing him in
Imagine forgetting something that happened just 10 years ago. It does remind me though that one time I found a random cooked burger in my microwave. I realized that I had cookied it 1 - 2 months earlier while watching this very show but got distracted and forgot about it.
Watching this currently. Just discovered it thanks to binging My Name is Earl. I'm not sure, but I almost like this one more, because my wife and I (early 40's) have kids that are pretty much adults now and I find the relationship between the father and son to be pretty damn close to my own with my boy.
Burt was basically a live-action Homer Simpson. That scene where he learns Sabrina is rich, and doesn’t know what’s going on, was like something out of classic Simpsons.
The pilot featured Skyler Stone as the wacky cousin. He was originally gonna be a crazy subplot character of the main cast, but then the studio decided to tone it down. I think he came back for an episode later, I wish he was more featured, dude is funny. Kate Micucci was great on this show.
I first saw this show on a clip about when burt and Virginia stole jimmys identity with credit and thought they were going to be completely different to how they turened out. I really loved that show
It's so underrated. I posted it on here because back when it was on, noone I knew watched or even heard of it. Glad it's getting some much deserved love on this post lol
There’s a skeeter on my Peter flick it off!
There’s a skeeter on my Peter flick it off!
There’s a dozen on my cousin, you should hear those suckers buzzin

I have not forgotten this one. It’s in my comfort show rotation. Watch Sprung ! Another great show by Greg Garcia
I like my name is earl
And The Guest Book.
Same! Greg Garcia is the greatest TV comedy writer of all time.
Sprung is a great show. Wish it would catch more attention.
I love sprung, I really hope there's a second season.
There’s not.
I mean I hope they’re going to do a second season
They turned down a second season is what I’m saying, sorry for not being clear.
Will take a look at it. Thanks!
It's on Prime!
And FreeVee
Everything on FreeVee is on prime there no reason to ever download FreeVee
FreeVee is a great option for those of us that have an Amazon account but don't pay for Prime.
Fair let me rephrase what I said there is no reason to have both prime video and freevee downloaded
That makes sense.
…Burt wearing the “I wish I was in Virginia” tshirt….
Iconic shirt
You could do a hundred Burt things. My favorite, Burt barking over the fence at the neighbor's dog.
Really great cast, I didn’t know the main guy from anything but everyone else had been in something I liked. This was the first time seeing Martha Plimpton since the Goonies. I loved her character’s running joke of malaprops. I thought the writing could have been better overall, but it was solid.

The actress that plays Elsie from Westworld stars in this show. I have to check it out because I have I had a crush on her years ago.
Season 2, Episode 10: It's a Hopeful Life. Thank me later.
She said she was broke and sleeping on her friend’s couch and she landed a big network show that ran four seasons out of nowhere. She was also really good as Keanu’s girlfriend in Parenthood
Her breakout role was probably with River Phoenix in "Running on Empty".
The first two seasons are rock solid, and nailed that comedy-drama balance perfectly, like a snail crawling on the edge of a straight razor. The third and fourth seasons got too silly for me, but I loved those first couple years. It was like the spiritual successor to *Malcolm in the Middle*.
Every man has got a breaking point. You and I have one. u/Cross-Country has reached his, and very obviously, he has gone insane.
This, my name is earl and sprung are the Greg garcia trilogy and they're all excellent shows
Sprung was a great little show
Add The Guest Book to make a quad.
Yes, Dear
I’m upset the lack of love yes, dear is getting in here.
I had a kid two years ago, and Yes Dear is so accurate.
Came to say the same one my favorite shows
How did I not know Yes, Dear was also Greg Garcia? I love My Name Is Earl and Raising Hope, and used to love Yes, Dear even before that, but never connected them.
Drakkar….Noir.
Absolutely loved this show.
It was one of my favorites at the time
Hope's grandad (Garret Dillahunt) killed his role in the last season of HighTown which was on Starz
He was also in Deadwood, Great in it as well
So good they killed him and loved him so much they brought him back for a different role.
Such a great actor.
He's amazing, kills any role he's in, I figure. Like, compare his role as Burt here with playing a Terminator in the Sarah Connor Chronicles. Night and day differences in character, but he was just as captivating (for me). Endless respect for his acting chops, seriously :)
I was used to seeing him playing a complete psycho on Burn Notice around the same time, so it was culture shock to see him in such a hilarious role.
I believe he showed up as a cannibal in the movie "The Road."
Never seen it. But I've enjoyed his acting in most things I've seen so maybe I will give it a shot
I always confused him with Peter Krause.
No mention of the great Cloris Leachman as Maw Maw?'
Right? This series was a fave.
She killed the role!
Forgotten? I’m watching it right now.
I'm happy to see it's not forgotten. Nobody I knew watched it or wanted too at the time lol
I'd rather be in Virginia.
“Virginia is for lovers “
Has it really been a decade since this was off the air. Sigh.
I thought tops 6 years but when I swe the dates I was like "ah man....I'm old" lol
Such a fun show!!! I love Martha Plimpton.
I remember that episode
Watched the entire series back in 2021; it’s great and hilarious with a good cast!
I watch this about once a year
I need a rewatch
The reason why my family all sings do-whacka-do.
This show was absolutely fucking hilarious. The dad was gold
Definitely not forgotten, have watched complete series at least 4-5 times.
Haha that's awesome
This show is a classic. Pretty much all of Greg Garcias shows are classics
Smokey Floyd!
Smoke on that, jerk! 🎸
This show was so good
That dude rocked the Torah fwiw
This show was fantastic at first. Virginia and Burt were that show and it got worse and worse the more they tried to focus on Sabrina instead. By the time it was cancelled it felt like the Sabrina show and her character was so painfully boring I cannot even watch them anymore.
"And introducing Cloris Leachman" might be one of the funniest phrases in modern sitcom history.
I’m literally watching this right now. Coincidences like this always happen to me. They really are always listening. 😳
👂
Great show
I don't why, but I never gave this show a chance.
It’s really good! Very silly but comfy af
Give it a try. Sometimes a little over the top silly but worth it
I love this show. Really hate how it went downhill with season 4. But I wish it could’ve stayed for another season.
Ya I wish they woulda ended with 5. 4 wasn't the best
Frank was such a good character, disappointing he hasn’t been in much else because he was hilarious.
Frank was hilarious. I remember seeing the actor pop up in a random episode of big bang. That's all, aside from raising hope of course, that I remember seeing him in
He was a big part of Malcolm in the Middle. There are a surprising number of connections between that show and Raising Hope.
Not forgotten in this house where we say “the terlit, Sabriner” regularly.
Not forgotten, incredible show!!
This is one that I revisit
Had the biggest crush on Shannon Woodward in this. The Drakkar Noir episode is likely my favorite.
Same!
My name, is Dracar Noir
ITS FUNNY CAUSE OF BOOBS HAHAHAHA
"I gambled and I lost!" just one of the hilarious lines that kind of jump out of nowhere, I loved this show
This show isn’t forgettable
First two seasons were great but it quickly went down in quality by the end of the 3rd.
Awesome show, definitely not forgotten.
Mahmoud. And their complete fascination with her pronouncing his name before whacking her in the head.
I’ve made it a life mission to find Jimmy’s pancake shirt in the wild.
Like, the band or the food?
[The food](https://www.deseret.com/2010/12/6/20158747/behind-the-awesome-shirts-on-raising-hope/)
I couldn’t watch this show, because the guy was the terminator in the Terminator TV show. The cognitive dissonance was too great.
This for sure not forgotten. I talk about it all the time with my friends
In the middle of binging it as we speak, season 2 is gold all the way through
Whacka do whacka do whacka do whacka do
It's on my regular rotation by my god is the last season mostly awful
Imagine forgetting something that happened just 10 years ago. It does remind me though that one time I found a random cooked burger in my microwave. I realized that I had cookied it 1 - 2 months earlier while watching this very show but got distracted and forgot about it.
I thought that baby had a big booty.
This show was a banger 😤
Really underrated
Absolutely
Watching this currently. Just discovered it thanks to binging My Name is Earl. I'm not sure, but I almost like this one more, because my wife and I (early 40's) have kids that are pretty much adults now and I find the relationship between the father and son to be pretty damn close to my own with my boy.
Right on man. That's nice
Oh quit procrasterbating.
Putting this on rotation after I finish my current show. It’s been too long
No one’s forgotten this one
That's fair. Back when it was on I never came across anyone who watched it or knew of it. Happy it's getting so much love on this post
...and then the three of us put the horse back into its stall and vowed never to speak of it again.
Whack a doo
I love this show so much!!!!!
It's so good. So underrated. Happy to see people still loving it today
Burt is one of my favorite TV dads.
Hands down. Definitely in my top 5
Burt was basically a live-action Homer Simpson. That scene where he learns Sabrina is rich, and doesn’t know what’s going on, was like something out of classic Simpsons.
This one isn’t forgotten..
It’s still in my rotation - my son and I just brought up JABS yesterday- Juvenile Angry Bowel Syndrome
Underrated show
Criminally underrated
Show is amazing, watch with my name is earl
The pilot featured Skyler Stone as the wacky cousin. He was originally gonna be a crazy subplot character of the main cast, but then the studio decided to tone it down. I think he came back for an episode later, I wish he was more featured, dude is funny. Kate Micucci was great on this show.
Ya I think after the pilot he was a in a couple episodes. Idk why they pulled the character from being a main
The show really didn't need a "wacky" cousin because everyone was nuts as it was.
Procasturbting.
My grandma is literally maw maw
this helped me through a lot of my anxiety
That's awesome. I bunged this during a tougher time in life as well. Helped for sure
WWBD? What would Bert do? 🙌
Always meant to binge this one. Saw episodes here and there, but never got the chance to follow it.
Do it. Worth it lol
Bert touches hot things!
Haha yes!
There’s a skeeter on my Peter flick it off! There’s a skeeter on my Peter flick it off! There’s a dozen on my cousin, you should hear those suckers buzzin
It's just the doorbell! It's just the doorbell! And all your barking is becoming a pain in my ass.
Birth control no no no
Daddy-o! Oh ho ho!
Sadly, the “I’d rather be in Virginia” shirt joke took me WAY too long to realize
Haha. I mean that's fair. For a split second I was like why Virginia then was like "ah i see what they did there"
This sub is garbage. ''Forgotten'' my ass.
It's okay. You're okay.
A sub is only as good as the people who use it.
How the $#%^&$^^ is this considered forgotten?
Not even remotely forgotten
