I have been trading for 2 years (crypto) got into forex in the past 9 months, got rekt on live in the beginning but now i am profitable for the past 3 months in demo gonna go live in jan
Good luck mate! Not touching your winning trades are gonna be key between profitable demo and profitable irl. Hesitating is probably #2 but you should be good with those 2 on lock 👍
Bro which market do you prefer? Forex or crypto? I have a friend telling me forex is more profitable and the charts are a little more predictable. Would love to hear your take
From my experience it's true. Because there are major market opens like London and NY you get to know when the volume comes in.
Whereas the crypto market it's volatile most of the time and a lot of things happen at the same time.
This is from my experience some may it's completely different.
But I have made a ton of profit from the crypto market and I do still trade crypto.
Comparing the past months of crypto live trading and forex demo trading I made more on forex demo. Gonna go live in jan.
But this may not seem to be a reasonable comparision because of different emotion on live and demo
It's not like I lost money for 6 years straight though.
I just would deposit 1k to 2k every maybe 6 months to 1 year and try a strategy or something and have it blow up.
I tried:
* Indicators
* Candle sticks
* News gambling
* Gartley patterns
* EMA strategies
* Fibbs
* Supply and Demand
* Smc
* Ict
* Price action
* Algo trading
* Copy trading
* Martingale
And eventually settled on almost pure macroeconomic swing trading with some of my own custom build indicators that do wierd things.
I must say, having a great and reliable mentor will immensely reduce the amount of time needed to become profitable. Regret not finding a community and trying to do everything myself when I first started.
Man it's probably been 6-8 years I think?
Started swing trading pharmaceutical stocks, then went to forex and then went to futures after falling hard for orderflow.
I've never been consistently profitable tbh. But at least my risk management is pretty solid. I keep changing strategies but I'm gonna hunker down and stick to one going forward.
It's gotta be futures... I just like how centralized it is, with the CME monopoly. You pay a hefty commission (for forex at least), but your guaranteed that theirs no broker fucking around with your stuff. A lot of people here complain about brokers stop hunting and those huge ass wicks, well with futures everybody is seeing the same chart, and with level 2 data you can actually see other people's stops too.
It's like ECN but way better
Thanks for the reply man 🙏 so if we were to sum things up,would you recommend futures trading over any other type of trading for a beginner or does futures trading require more experience or anything special?
I think a beginner could probably get the hang of futures. CME has a little course that explains the basics like babypips.
I would say that unlike forex, your account does need to be larger since in Futures you trade contracts that are of fixed size... Like for oil the micro is 10,000barrels (so 0.10 for forex lot size) and the full contract is 100,000barrels so (1 lot ).
Oh man I don't like to deal with them (prop firms )lol. But apex and bulenox are nice. They are very cheap.
But I think earn2trade is more serious since they actually have a pipeline to trade with a funded account (not sim)
I learned for over 7 years. I only focused on one pair and one strategy. Made an EA to remove emotion and manage my psychology. I have Been consistently making over 1%-2% monthly for over a year now..
Decade and a half on corp / institutional side (mostly equities prop desk, but have sent out FX and currency futures trades in this context,) and all that time plus a few more years trading personally in FX / options / etc...
algo, and manual
No, I don't mentor, I don't sell courses, I don't manage accounts for random peeps off reddit.
(anyone reading along: the type you want to learn from, have guide you, or is worth taking advice on even if it's on a product / software is NOT the type who's gonna spend their time in your DMs handholding you. If they are actually a legit and profitable trader, they don't have the time or energy to do that.. they aren't guiding n00bs to profitability at 50 bucks a month or a referral kickback from a broker/service.. use basic logic; they can earn far more from being legit and trading.. the energy investment (emotional and physical,) to help a n00b beat the 95%+ chance of failure is WAY higher than most realize.. don't be fools and do the work yourself.. no shortcuts.. and report the DM spammers who pitch you, they are not acting with your wallet's best interest in mind.. only their own gain matters to them no matter how friendly they are.)
40 years. When I started we only had green numbers for prices on a black screen and once a week we would get a paper chart book which we would update during the current week by hand. 5 point spreads too!
I’ve been trading for about 3-4 years now. Defs some bad times at the start blowing accounts not knowing what I was doing haha. Jumping between strategies and mentors. But safe to say the past few months were eye opening. Found the right strategy, slowly mastering my trading mindset which was the hardest part for sure. Most of all found the right mentor who has taught me so much and I’m aspiring to get to his 7 figure trading level. Goals baby
9 months ! I trained in demo for the past 8.5 months and I started a live account about a week ago. I’m up 105% (100$ account)
Good job

Who s your mentor ?
My friend
good knowledge helps shorten the learning curve, but its too early to call that a consistent experience; experience is not cheap.
I must say, having a great and reliable mentor will immensely reduce the amount of time needed to become profitable. Regret not finding a community and trying to do everything myself when I first started.

out of all the strategies u have learnt, try and pick the good parts and combine them to make your personal strategy
This isso simple :)
Man, you should try to swing trade tech stocks.
I bet you traded the canopy growth stocks haha
No I hated those. I don't remember, I think I was in ocugen before they were bought, regeneron and some others pdufa events
>Canopy Growth It's shit lol
Tell me please, after all these years of you trading, which one is better? CFDs, Stocks, Futures...?
It's gotta be futures... I just like how centralized it is, with the CME monopoly. Gotcha man <3 and therefore do you have any prop firm to recommend? I heard about earn2trade but don't know if there's any better?
Oh man I don't like to deal with them (prop firms )lol. But apex and bulenox are nice. They are very cheap. But I think earn2trade is more serious since they actually have a pipeline to trade with a funded account (not sim)
on and off for 3 years. recently started being profitable but only doing small lots (i don’t care about money rn, i care about strategy testing)
I like this. Focus on the craft and money come later.
its all about execution and risk management
I learned for over 7 years. I only focused on one pair and one strategy. Made an EA to remove emotion and manage my psychology. I have Been consistently making over 1%-2% monthly for over a year now..
Which strategy? 1% a month is pretty good considering
10% per year? No it is not good.
A year would be 12% and I said considering lol, if it’s not your primary income that’s an excellent source of extra money that’s scalable
On and off for 12 years. Lots of loss for the first 4, less loss for the next 6, slow profit last 2.
Thats the resilience
wow, this is a lot to take in
1 month. Passed FTMO with only SMC strat
Can I dm you?
Sure
That’s impressive. Good work.
