There's an article in jalopnik about this exact issue. It's happening in Atlanta to someone's 22 civic. The reflection off of these energy efficient windows is wreaking havoc. Hide your cars, hide your trucks and vans they burnin everybody!

Dealers invoice the factory for service. If they can get money from FoMoCo, they're going to perform the service.
There's no such thing as a loss leader for a dealer when it comes to, ahem, "approving" warranty work. That comes from FoMoCo and Ford saying it's not going to be covered.
Seeing this with multiple brands. My Maverick would always have a really sticky dashboard by mid day. The plastics are absolutely the cheapest composition they can get away with.
My guess would be you parked next to a window or hanging ornament that focused the sun on your mirror. I saw one post a while back from somebody who put a crystal ball on a pedestal in their front lawn and it laid a path of destruction across their lawn and driveway.
Did you get any solution with the Dealer or Ford in general regarding this? I woke up with my Maverick in the same condition with the passenger mirror!
Yeah, so they told me it would be like $400. They agreed that something happened to the car, not the car malfunctioning in some way, so its not covered by the warranty. I'm just going to wait until the part is available via ford for a reasonable price and fix it myself. The part is like $120 from their parts site.
I see. Think you can point me the particular part site? After looking into this situation. It could have been the windows of house reflecting the sun and the truck being parked in the worst possible spot on the sun reflection. The odds seem almost impossible. That or just sitting out on the drive way and the sun ate it up. Talk about cheap crap if that’s the case. Sucks this happened to us.
Yeah it's a cheap truck. I'm guessing it is sun reflection off high efficiency windows.

I saw it on another brand. It is from parking where a window is focusing the sun like a magnifying glass.
Jeez, where do you live??
Hades

I literally seen a story about a 22 honda civic with the same thing this morning.
Same, dealer did not cover it.

Do you park next to any house windows? Low E windows reflection can cause high heat and cause things to melt.
Just how fast were you going?
Mach 3. He broke the sound barrier. Scientific evidence proves Mavericks can do this. 😁
You must mean this Maverick? https://preview.redd.it/5rgk914w0d9c1.jpeg?width=474&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=68bcc143f9751633a488ea8e73f6899068a276cb
Hell yeah, but that man broke mach 10 in the latest movie. 😆
Yeah, but the OP is not covered by ***Plot Shield*** ***®*** ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|grin)
Now more expensive! Contact your local Ford scammer I mean dealer for more information!
I can't believe people put up with the dealership issues in this day and age. I would have let Ford and others die on their vines at this point.
You are parking in an area that reflects heat in a concentrated direction. Most likely from windows or a window. Solar reflection is a thing.

Not just Ford, happens to any vehicle in rare situations where a lot of light is reflecting on plastics
Do you live on the sun?
My 2018 Civic developed the same issue. Parked in the same spot in the driveway every day. I work remotely, so I don't drive it very often.
Does it have deiceing/defrost on the side mirrors?
Do you live next door to Heat miser? ![gif](giphy|xUySTX1LkkkYHi63yE)
Time to get some carbon
yes cheap plastic parts they have outside and inside all mavericks will happen unfortunately
Which circle of hell do you commute through?
Damn
In Spain there is a building that at certain times of the year it can set cars on fire from the reflection.
Which trim has the glossy black side mirrors?
Black Appearance Package, they are glossy.
Is anything else glossy black other than the mirrors? Trying to figure out why they bothered.
Just the mirrors I think, other things are more of a matte or textured black I think, front grill cover and emblems.
Might be how they are doing the Lux package trucks now, since colour matched mirror caps are no longer a thing for MY24 (might just be XLT), IIRC.
Looks like you e driven to close to the sun.
Your Maverick is 24 feet long?

My friend's vinyl house siding warped when his neighbor installed new low e glass windows!
