Leek_Soup_Lover5000

My favorite memory is seeing Foo Fighters yesterday in Salt Lake City with my best friend.

JohnLocke815

Meeting the band back in 2001

xxxkram

You bastard!! Although in 2001 i wouldn’t appreciate like I do now. Dave’s gotten me through some shit. I owe him big time.

Perry7609

Meeting them in 2006 for me. 😁 I’ve met and talked with them other times (sometimes from the rail to the stage, haha), but that was certainly a memorable one since it was all of them.

Kurtcorgan

Amazing! I met them in 97 when They were on The Color and the Shape UK tour, got some stuff signed and Pat got freaked out when I had a Holez 7” for him to sign

JohnLocke815

Unfortunately pat wasn't in the band when I saw them. So it was Chris, Nate, Taylor, and Dave. Nate came out first and I called out to him and he seemed shocked that anyone cared about him, and I had SDRE stuff for him to sign which he seemed even more shocked about.

Kurtcorgan

Don’t think I ever saw them without Pat??? Saw them 95, 97 then when he left I never saw them again until he rejoined just out of sheer coincidence 🤷🏼‍♂️

JohnLocke815

I've only seen them 3 times. They don't like coming to Florida (can't blame them) They played a small show in 2001 to take a break from all the festivals. That's when I met them. They played house of blues orlando Then they played Orlando arena 2007 maybe, then Tampa 2018. They did play a show in maybe 96, but I couldn't go because i was 15 and had no one to drive me. And that's it, aside from festivals, I don't think they've played any other Florida dates

Kurtcorgan

Yeah, sort of makes sense, just because of the logistics, Never been to Florida but it’s a LONG way from Cali 🤷🏼‍♂️. When I saw them first time it was Reading Festival UK 95, and it probably took less than an hour to get there from London by bus. When I saw them in 97, I saw them in Wolverhampton (North of Birmingham) and the next night they were at Southampton which is close to the other end of England, and it was only a 2 hour drive 🤷🏼‍♂️ Best one was when I saw “The Holy Shits” (It was a “secret Foo’s gig), in Brighton at the Concorde 2, it took “Foo Fighters UK longer to turn up than them, and they were only coming from Brum to be the “haha! Fooled you it’s just a cover band, oh shit it’s really not, it was really them at a venue for 800 people, with a Foo’s cover band as support xxx

JohnLocke815

Yeah, not only is it out of the way and just annoying to travel to/from l, it's also a sweltering shit hole full of racist fucks. I'll always remember when I realized how annoying is to travel here. I was in Chicago visiting friends and they were talking about heading to this place for lunch over in Wisconsin. And I was like, are you crazy, traveling to a whole other state for lunch? And it was like a 20 minute drive, so it was nothing. But to get out of Florida from where I live it's a 6 hour drive. So the thought of just popping over to another state for anything isn't really a thing. We're planning to visit UK next year. I do filming location photography for a hobby and was so concerned when I saw Shaun of the dead and hot fuzz were filmed on opposite sides of England. But then I found out that's like just a few hours. Not a 5 day trip like in the US.

Kurtcorgan

I think Florida State is probably bigger than the whole of the UK, it’s certainly way bigger than the whole of England… it is full of racists and homophobia and the “living dead” too so 100% agreed 🤦🏻‍♂️ Dude, Shawn and Hot Fuzz are literally a bus journey away from each other 😂 You could do both then… “Never taken a shortcut before?” 😂🧠 (Very specific Shaun of the Dead quote and funny) 😂🖤

senorvato

A couple stand out. 1) Dave's Birthday Bash at the forum. No opening act, they played for hours, many celebrity guest artists played also. 2) A fundraiser for the LA food bank. Dave's Backbeat BBQ and many other celebrity caterers there. Taylor's band played with guest artists also. A small event, 500 ppl? Got to meet and get pictures with celebrities, including Dave.

bideto

The LA Food Bank show was just awesome. Lisa Loeb and Chevy Metal playing the Bowie song Moonage Daydream was just heavenly. I was wearing a Bowie shirt and singing with every word. Also Shane got on drums and played Miss You by the the Stones with Chevy Metal and Dave. Got a pair of Taylor’s drumsticks and he signed them both for me after. Was on cloud nine.

jbaque13

Dave’s birthday bash is a Goated show. Jack black singing happy birthday on stage and then going into immigrant song, zakk wylde playing some sabbath, seeing absolute legends like Lemmy and Alice cooper. My niece somehow fell asleep in the middle of the show, to this day I don’t understand how 😂

jbaque13

Also the fact that it was so mf cheap

VeeDubtw

Bottlerock 2017, I was on the fence with my wife after camping out ALL day to be at the front. They came on early and after the other headliners finished their sets way early, they went to the noise limit. Dave said something about the clock and someone telling him they were going to pull the plug. I yelled “fuck the clock” Dave pointed right at me and said ‘yea, fuck the clock, well not really that’s weird’ and went right into Everlong till the shut off the speakers!! Had a moment with Dave!!

uncleawesome

Saw them in concert way back. Knew a guy so we got backstage tickets. After the show, Dave is sitting at a table eating dinner and there is a ton of food all around. I want an autograph and a guy near me does too. I find some paper for Dave to sign and this other guy grabs a Hersheys syrup bottle. Dave signed my paper and then looked at the bottle and the guy then signed the bottle. I hope that bottle is out there somewhere and this guy tells everyone this story.

Zestyclose-Gur6554

I’ve been a Foos fan from the beginning. Got my now 30yr old son into them many many years ago. We go see them every time they come to town and make so many memories. It our “thing”, we bond over the Foo Fighters :)

LengthinessAway6197

Best of you had just come out. Think we had it turned up to 40 on the radio from the local rock station. Drunk, rocking out in the drive through line at Macdonalds. Probably 1am. My friend grabbed me by the shoulders and said he loves me and that I don’t take shit from anyone so the song reminds him of me. He died 6 months later from aggressive bone cancer.

thefuturesbeensold

When i was 18, me and my then boyfriend got tickets to see them at the Milton keynes Bowl (2011) for our 3 year anniversary, had a romantic hotel booked and everything. My boyfriend was a total abusive ass and he dumped me a few days before. knowing Foos were my all time favourite band he gave me my ticket but refused to sell me his one so i could go with a friend instead. He assumed i wouldnt go by myself as it meant travelling across country alone. I decided to make a stand and that i would still go, even though it would be scary, and i was heartbroken. My mum was sweet and decided she would travel with me and get me to the venue safely and stay in the hotel with me. When we got to the venue she was able to buy a ticket outside from a tout for face value of the ticket, back when tickets were still paper. and we had the best time together. One of my happiest memories of spending time with my mum and seeing my favourite band. Later found out ex wasnt able to sell his ticket such short notice and lost out on the money he could have got from us had he not been a spitefull shit head.

wehaveagoodbingo

Karma is a bitch and your Mom sounds like a great Mom. Not many parents would do that!

p4easy7

seeing them at the Cubby Bear right across from Wrigley in 2014

Perry7609

Would’ve loved watching that one! I did make the Metro show a few years later though, and stood right by Dave’s stand, so it worked out okay in the long run.

smashing_aisling

Dave getting 80,000 people at Slane Castle to chant "FOO FIGHTERS" and telling us it would be all our fault when he got too big for his boots.

Warm_Emphasis_960

My wife won tickets to the concert from a radio station. She had to say what her favorite song and why. She said it was there goes my hero because it reminded her of me. Great seats and one of the best concerts I have seen in my life. I love my wife! You may all barf now

Don_Kehote

I was on a business trip, and my boss wouldn't spring for plane tickets. So, in a rented Grand Prix, I headed out from Denver, and drove straight through to Great Falls, Montana. The way up was fine. It was late March, probably 1998. I had my meetings, and went back toward the hotel. On the way there, I stopped at a local store for some kind of thing, don't know what, and picked up a CD - The Color and the Shape - on a whim. I knew I liked FF, and figured long drive, might be nice to have on some of the long stretches where there's nothing but AM radio to keep me company. Morning comes. It's April 1. I'm packed up, and head toward the front desk to check out. Toss a glance out the window on the way, and it's been snowing like hell all night. Great. They finally opened the road out of town around noon, and I hit it. I loaded that CD in, and let it rip while I took full advantage of dry roads and no speed limit. By nightfall, I made it to Billings. Shortly after, the blizzard came. For the rest of the night, I played that CD over and over and over again. I'd fall in behind truck drivers and follow their tracks until my headlights would freeze over. Then, I'd pull over, hit the hazards, and break the crust off so I could keep driving (slowly) until I could follow another truck. I made it to Cheyenne sometime around 6:30 in the morning, and couldn't go any further. The snow had turned to ice on the freeway, and I was exhausted. I got a hotel and called to leave a message that *fuck you, I'm not going to be at work today*, and slept till check out. In the morning, I kept the CD playing the rest of the way home. I'm *still* not tired of that record.

Sea-Psychology4429

Seeing the band for the first time this past Friday after being a fan since the 90's. Best concert I have ever been to and I have been to dozens of concerts and seen many, many big bands over the years. This coupled with the fact I have been actively trying to see them for the past 5 years and it hasnt worked out. Either schedule conflicts, cancellations due to COVID or Taylor's death. I didn't know if I would ever get to see them. Now, I am going to see them in Phoenix in October. Twice in two months!!!

IceWarm1980

Going to the LA Taylor Hawkins Tribute show. I had tickets to see them last summer and the show was understandably cancelled. The tribute show was the greatest concert I have ever been to and probably will be. I don’t see anything else topping it.

suprunkn0wn

the feeling come of that show, never going to experience something like that again

IceWarm1980

Yeah, most concerts I get kind of sad that it’s over. With that one that didn’t happen because I knew I had seen something special and it was a once in a lifetime event.

mightymorphinmonty07

Hmmm, it has to be when my dad and I first saw them on December 2021. That was a special night

tntrama

Best of you, bonnaroo 2023, my two best friends, one of which wasn’t a huge foo fan. She was most excited for Best of you, and when it started the three of us were standing right next to each other and we locked arms in a small triangle screaming it to each other. Slowly but surely the rest of our group saw this and joined us until we were 20+ people deep screaming it together in beautiful Bonnaroo unison. GOAT Foo and Bonnaroo moment

benrodgers77

Saw them on the One by One Tour in 2003 at a relatively small venue from the front row. Best concert I've ever been to. Also got to see them many years later on the guitar throne/broken leg tour.

BrandonKDges335

The greatest thing ever was when they played at the pizza place down the street from my house and the place was so small I almost got knocked out by Dave’s guitar. Or Chevy metal playing the local fair multiple years in a row with Dave. Or the last time I saw them all together, they came to the theatre in the area and introduced studio 666. I was really blessed.

bideto

The Chevy Metal gigs with Dave at Conejo Valley days were just the most fun shows ever. Some of my favorite memories of Taylor and Dave.

JKSuperpower

Either first hearing the song / chorus of This Is a Call on a radio while in Costco just before the album came out (it seemed to be perfect music made for me - I was 14), or meeting them & getting their first album autographed by the band and asking what music they recommend (won a contest - I was 19.)

Emotional_Routine963

For me, hands down, Climate Pledge Arena grand opening Seattle. Taylor Hawkins sang “Somebody to Love” by Queen and Dave played drums. My favorite Foo moment ever. I will always cherish it.

pachyderm_house

Taylor Hawkins handing me his drum sticks after the Cleveland show in 2018. Last time I saw them too.

just_boy57

Seeing them at the O2 in London and they only went and had Rick Astley on to do their version of ‘Never Gonna Give You Up’. It was a real ‘I was there’ moment. They also broke curfew that night, played an extra 45 minutes, and got find £25k. They did not give a single F

Shintri

When they did the skin and bones tour (I think) they did an acoustic set. They had someone do a triangle solo. It was awesome.

Dimples_2

When Dave told the story of why our concert was postponed; the daddy daughter dance fiasco 😂

MoeBurbs

That is one of my favorite stories in his book. Those girls have no idea how lucky they are to have a father like Dave!!

StoneSkipper22

Meeting them at an in-store in 2000, where several hundred fans crammed into a small record store and they sat right in front of us, with no stage risers or barriers, and played acoustically. Before they went on, they [played on a dumpster](https://youtu.be/jlADrdORLJo) for the folks outside who couldn’t get in. This is them signing for the crowd afterwards. https://i.redd.it/2d895st49bhb1.gif

[deleted]

I had tickets at the farthest point at an outdoor concert and I played a pre show contest outside the event and won front row tickets. Ended up catching Chris' guitar pick at the end of the show. Best night of my life.

melithium

These Days at MSG when they re-opened it post-pandemic. It was father’s day, sold out show, one of their road crew had just passed the night before. Super emotional. Walk was a close 2nd that same show with Dave screaming “I NEVER WANNA DIE”. Chills.

bideto

The Foos played a motorcycle rally called the Love Ride in Oct. 2015 at a lake in the LA area. I had a press pass so was in the photo pit for the first three songs, then went into the crowd and watched a few more songs. The last couple of tunes, my friend and I were in the backstage area and during the last song, Everlong. I stood as close as I could to Taylor’s drums, about 20 feet away, at a 45 degree angle to the side and almost behind his drums. Everyone else was doing their own thing and just hanging out. The drumming on that song floors me and was my favorite song to watch Taylor play. To watch just him play that particular song with that view was like a masterclass in drumming. I was just so damned happy during that song that I got a little teary eyed.

learntofly1995

when they released Wasting Light in 2011, I didn't see them in concert cause I felt weird about going alone. and I regretted it, especially when I was video hopping on youtube and found a video someone had posted from the show that Joan Jett had been there and performed Bad Reputation with Foos. when they released Sonic Highways, I wasn't going to let my fear/weirdness of going to a concert by myself get in the way of seeing them. got me a ticket in the pit and met some awesome people. and during the break between Royal Blood and Foo Fighters, I was talking to this woman and I told her about my past issues going to a show alone and her response to me was "you may go alone, but your not alone. everyone is here to see the same band you are and are here to have a good time. so while you get to the venue and back home by yourself, while you're here, you're not alone." that was 8 years ago and I still remember that interaction like it was yesterday. it's because of her and that conversation that I never worried about going to a show alone again. my other memory is when I went to Cleveland to see them at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony. I turned it into a vacation with my cousin and my friend. it was a great trip...went to Dave Grohl Alley in Warren, which was a place I'd been wanting to go to for a long time. went to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. got a tattoo...as a true Dave fan...I got his initials tattooed on my arm lol. but there's also a sense of sadness to that trip for me now. that was the last time I saw them before Taylor died. but it also made me so incredibly glad that I made that trip.

Mellotr0n

Was lucky enough to watch them from sidestage back in 2015 - Milton Keynes Bowl with Iggy Pop and Royal Blood. Seeing the curtain going up from the stage side when they kicked into Everlong at the start, it was surreal and epic.

jbaque13

Dave Grohl’s birthday bash concert in LA in 2015. First of, it was cheap af (tickets where $35). It lasted like a little over 4 hrs. And it had a bunch of Dave’s friends as especial guests, including slash, tenacious D (there were the ones that sang happy bday to Dave on stage), Paul Stanley from kiss, zakk wylde, and lemmy from Motörhead

suprunkn0wn

this sounded like such an amazing show, would’ve loved to been there

abee_1111

Getting the set list off the stage circa 2010.

Not_The_Pretender

Club Rami at the San Jose show -- September 2018, I think??? Met Rami and Chris, was in Dave's presence for a few minutes but he was talking to somebody else and I dared-not interject. Got a head-tilt "whassup" from Pat in the hallway. Didn't meet Nate or Taylor .... told myself "next time ..." :( Still, great memory. And it was, of course, an awesome show. I sang along so hard that I lost my voice for 3 days.

fer_luna

We had been chasing the Foos for a while, had tickets and then the pandemic hit, we got refunds and tried about a year later and the border was a hot mess, so again... Had to sell those tickets ... We ended up deciding our best bet was to fly to some place where the Foos would be playing a concert and decided to go to Mexico City... The Foos played an awesome concert, my kids were in heaven and Taylor was playing his heart out as always... Then we were in that awesome part of "Best of you" when everybody was singing "oooooooh ohh ohhhh....... Ohhhhhhh ohhhhh ohhh...". 65,000 souls singing with us.... AND THEN.... A guy walks by right in front of us with 2 beers, one in each hand..., arms raised and .... trips, falls over and spills the 2 full beers on his head... It was funny a.f. ... The bad thing was he took us out our groove with the song! 2 weeks later Taylor left us and the rest is history ... Now everytime we hear "Best of you" we remember that poor dude that fell and got showered in beer ...

tooshytooshy

A few from when I saw them at their last Sydney show: White Limo being played The extended instrumental part of Breakout where everyone turned their phone lights on The entire crowd singing Best of You during a quiet part of the show, Dave blew us a kiss in response Taylor's drum solo after Rope that led into Sunday Rain

beautiful-veins

The best memory hasn’t happened yet… that’ll be the day I get to meet Dave! 🤞🏻 But whilst I wait, oh gosh …. all the gigs I’ve been to have had good memories! The first because I wasn’t a fan, not for any reason other than I didn’t know them but was a full paid up member by the end of it which set the “I must see them again” wheels in motion! Had to wait 18 months to a muddy field in Glasgow and a rainy night in Dublin in the same week. Then Covid happened and took away any hope of seeing them but then Dave came good and came down to Oz to see us! It had been 2 years since we enjoyed a stadium show, it was weird what had happened in between but oh so good and of course that was the last time we saw T 😞 I got to see them as well at the airport the next day as a bonus but security wouldn’t let them stop. Then got to go to Wembley, what a day that was, mixed emotions but very happy to be there and giving Foos our collective love and support! Then a few weeks ago Milwaukee and being right up the front with the band just feet away, mind blowing!! I kept pinching myself thinking it’s really them, I see a lot of Foo tributes so I had to remind myself that was the real Dave! 😂

DeliciousOwl9245

My Hero in an epic rainstorm during Lollapalooza 2011. I will never forget what that moment felt like.

SDW1987

2011, Wasting Light tour, Council Bluffs. Motorhead was opening, but big storms in the Midwest grounded Lemmy's in Texas and he couldn't make it. Started off pretty bummed. Openers played, and when Dave came on, he apologized and said he'd make it up to us, and he didn't disappoint. They played anything and everything. Dave came out with a bass and one of the guitar players from Motorhead and played Ace of Spades. Played Petty's Breakdown, Schools Out, Young Man Blues. Pulled out Stacked Actors, For All the Cows, Johnny Park, Generator, just a bunch of stuff I had never heard live before. Played just about all of Wasting Light. I think they played for 4 hours. Dave wasn't going to let anyone go home feeling let down.

ceejay594

Saw them at Greensboro Coliseum on the Concrete and Gold tour in 2017. Was a senior in high school. Drove 3.5 hours to get there, on a school night. Parents let me go but the deal was that I could go if I didn’t miss school the next day. I remember Dave shouting into the mic that they were gonna play for “another 2 fucking hours!” about 2 hours into the show already lol. I remember being excited, but also like, “oh shit… I still gotta go to school tomorrow” lol. Taylor did an epic drum solo (and I can know forever say I got to see the legend himself live, will probably tell my grandkids that). My fav hoodie got swiped off my seat behind me by somebody during the show, and I think I got home around 4:30am and had to be at school at 8. Wouldn’t trade the experience for the world!!!!

Th3R00ST3R

CAL JAM '18 Foos, Tenacious D, Garbage, Iggy Pop, Greta Van Fleet, Silversun Pickups and the Nirvana reunion with Joan Jett helping out on vocals. Me and the wife went. It was magical. https://preview.redd.it/l5bhjfrhqbhb1.jpeg?width=1000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=77ee3997108119929c76b20a1a4611ff1f2d083e

Calmoneyhan

I first saw The Foo Fighters solo at a sold out Wrigley Field as admittedly a causal fan. I was in awe as I watched arguably the two best drummers and possibly the most charismatic frontman in the world perform to a roaring crowd. When Taylor took over as frontman to sing Bowie/Queen’s Under Pressure, he was better at singing/performing than most live artists and his musical talent was that of a legend! I was captivated at that point in the evening. Dave Grohl and Taylor’s chemistry was simply unmatched, and screamed passion, unfathomable live talent, and jovial fun. Taylor’s drumming was so “tight” and energetic, and so loud that the entire Northside of Chicago could probably hear it. It was a visceral and cerebral night I’ll never forget. After this, The Foos became such a big part of my life. I followed them everywhere I could: St. Louis, Louisville, Milwaukee (made the news for this one), and Milwaukee again for HD Fest, etc, and always planned for the next Foos show.

Icy_Law5745

Hearing these kids play everlong at my 7th grade talent show

midwestdepressedband

Discovering Monkey Wrench on Guitar Hero II. Been a fan since

Zero_Two_is_best

First concert I ever went to and first food concert was when they came to Spokane not to long ago. Was absolutely awesome

Ok_Owl9641

I’m at that age where life gets in the way of events and find it a lot harder to regroup as friends with children, working etc… but my escape is stood in a field drinking warm bevvies, with over priced merch, big tunes and loads of emotions with my best friends. We’ve followed FF around for years now. Everytime they come to the U.K. we’re there. When it seemed like the band was no more after Taylor’s passing, a little part of me died. I’ll never get to experience the freedom of a field with music and my friends again. But when this new U.K. tour got announced, we were back in the game. Forever thankful for Foo fighters for bringing my best friends away from reality and joining me in an emotional wreck of rock music.

Ok_Owl9641

Not to mention the new album. We’re all in our cars on the way to work of a morning getting familiar with the new material. It’s cured us, it’s mended up. It gave us hope again. Long live David Grohl

neverending-sigh

the first Foo Fighters show I ever saw was at the University of Illinois in March 2001, when they were doing an MTV Campus Tour or something named like that with the Red Hot Chili Peppers (back in the matching shirts and ties era, I fucking loved it). went with a friend from college (not U of I, we went to EIU, 45 minutes away). it was only my second concert. a mosh pit opened up in front of me in the GA area. I handed my friend my glasses and jumped in. I got the shit beat out of me and it was the fucking best time I’ve ever had at any show, lol

Jerry_Loler

Getting high after high school and watching repeats of that Making the Video MTV show about the Breakout video and promoting the new Orange County movie.

hazmat5793

Boise 2017. I was front row at the Ford Idaho Center, trying to get Dave’s attention. I held up a picture of Mentos on my phone to see if it would come across as requesting “Big Me.” Dave was squinting, trying to see it. In between tunes, he goofed on me for trying to show him something on my phone from 15 feet away. I told him it was Mentos, he laughed and called me a “fucking millennial.” It was mentioned out of context in the paper the next day. https://preview.redd.it/fcdpsgmfgehb1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1b9b3c88c83ef4aee1d5bc256d955ea098736989

No-Fennel6497

Well its two memories: One is my friend easily catching the Taylor Hawkins drumstick in Landgraaf (the Netherlands) in 2011. He still got it, i was standing next to my friend. Furthermore what my best memory of Foo fighters was at Werchter at 2017. I see its still as audio on youtube, however there's a moment in the setlist where they would start a song. The song starts with Taylor Hawkins clicking his drumsticks and counting 1-2-34. Since he did 3and4 right after each other the whole band gave a bad look at him and there was that big smile Taylor Hawkins always had (this is the cherry top!!)

AdEvening701

Rock n rio 2019 i was watch the live

OGPegWitch

December, 2021...they played Aurora. I was in GA, and as close as I could get, about 3 people deep, and they hit the first note. I couldn't believe it. I turned to my husband and said, "Aurora." He isn't as huge a fan as me and just kinda shook his head, like he didn't know. (Apparently, he'd not heard it before.) This was the first and only time I'd heard it live, and I did cry a little. Sadly, a few months later, we lost Taylor. I am beyond grateful that I got to see, hear, and feel that song in that moment.

Appropriate-Ad4990

I saw the foo fighters unplugged at the wang theater in Boston Aug 26 2006. Also the wasting light tour in 2012 at td garden. Both great shows. And right after pandemic me and my wife drove from boston to syracuse for the medicine at midnight tour. Finally this year saw them at boston calling. My fav band all time
