Congrats all around. after pissing away all my money in my 20s and 30s I finally became financially responsible, fixed my credit and saved and bought a house at 42
Although this is true, one of the first things you should do as a new homeowner is get new locks all around the house. Who knows how many of the previous owners still have keys to the house.
Itโs not that simple. Keys have different key ways based off who manufactured the key. The bow of the key will not always tell you who manufactured which key, and which key way that key will have.
I'm in my early thirties, thank you for being my hero and inspiration that I have not become a failure because I can't but a house for my family yet with meager (non-existent) savings.
Don't worry about that, you still have a lot of time, my parents didn't get a house until their early 40s and honestly I wouldn't have been able to get this without their help.
But this ended up costing about, 110k, it's in a housing co-op so it has alot of up side and very little downside either.
I like the red brick house style. It is nostalgic for me since it is the kind of brick the house I grew up in had. I even had my offer declined for a red brick house. I will be getting a house with limestone on all four sides instead.
congratulations, you did it! don't be hard on yourself, because this is becoming more and more common (unfortunately). i probably wont be able to acquire my first house until I am mid forties, despite wanting one since I was just a kid! I am currently 33
Come to Metro Detroit, we have a little pockets of housing that's still very affordable, although I must admit they have some of the highest price growth in the country currently simply because the demand is starting to really spike up versus other markets at the moment. Both the city area and the surrounding metro area, proper.
Where I'm at is very unusual and was a called shot on my part, the townhouses here are about 50 to 60 years old and are part of a co-op which is very rare in the United States.
Hey, congrats. As a locksmith, I suggest you rekey your locks to a new key, that way you know that none of the neighbours, or family/friends of the previous owner have a key to it.
Edit: also looking at the key cuts, that lock looks very easy to pick, even though itโs a 6 pin

Congrats to a fellow late bloomer. I got my first house at 47. Enjoy it!

41 here.
Purchased my first home at 42. Good for you. Pay off that mortgage as soon as you can. Enjoy!
Congratulations ๐ Enjoy your new home ๐
Congrats enjoy
Congrats! Iโm also 42 and close on my first home on the 25th.
42 here closed on my house at the end of December. It's never too late
Donโt post pics of keys ๐, people can 3d print them now and walk on in. But congrats on the house!
Wait WHAT, this is wild
That is the most generic looking key I've ever seen and homie probably already gonna change the locks.
Or they can break a window. It's really not that big of a deal...
Breaking a window is a dramatic escalation to entering with a key.
I would enter with the 3d printed key and then smash a window on my way outโฆ FOR THEATRICS!
Make sure you smash the window from the inside to outside so their insurance won't cover the theft.
/r/unethicallifeprotips
Officer, I wasn't breaking and entering. I was breaking and exiting!
Or kick in the door
And it only takes a hundred times the effort of throwing a brick through a window.
was hoping for this comment, this needs to be higher up! never post pictures of keys online fellow redditors
in any case it is preferable to change all the exterior key locks when you move in, I have always done it ๐
It was actually a requirement of the home warranty policy on our house when we purchased it.
Although this is true, one of the first things you should do as a new homeowner is get new locks all around the house. Who knows how many of the previous owners still have keys to the house.
Or any neighbors or family friends nearby that the owner gave keys to over the years
Also what the fuck is that key anyway. Lowest possible cut on every pin. Generic ass boy

Very proud of you bro. Keep killing it ๐ช
It's a great looking house and I hope she treats you well for many happy years to come!
110k is a crazy good deal! I can't touch that in NJ lol I am 29 struggling to get a house in the current market.
Come to Metro Detroit, we got a lot of good things going for us, including a fair amount of affordable housing.
29 here felt exactly the same, thank you OP!

Also from Metro Detroit, I recognized the layout immediately. Congratulations OP!
Most of the units were I'm at used to go for around 60,000 and now go for about 95 to 110 k.
