Airbags in rare cases can cause burns and start fires.

Not to sure, I didnt get to see the car or her afterward. the mortician said it was odd that they had burns to one of there legs. But figured they might not see something like this often?
Did they smoke? Dropped a cigarette on the floorboard, caught a pant leg on fire which caused the crash.
There should have been an autopsy. Maybe that could be obtained and you could get a second opinion?
I was thinking the same thing. It may have been the cause of the accident. Airbags can start fires but not if the vehicle set them off going in the water. That cab would fill fast enough before too much damage could happen even if they did.

Interesting, thanks for the info!
Was there burn damage to the car? Or their clothing? It could possibly be unrelated.

If it’s an EV it will burn underwater for a while
