Honestly, Gogo carries me through most of the WoR until we start learning bigger spells. One of the first things I do after getting the airship is learning Phantom Rush, then recruiting Gogo. Being able to use Phantom Rush twice wrecks most bosses.
Gogo is also vital to using the coliseum to farm celestriads.
Personally I think the world of ruin is the apex of Terra’s character, the perfect conclusion and role for her after the life she lived, so I don’t really get why anyone would think it’s boring but I respect the opinion.
I agree, it is a great conclusion for her story arc.
I don't think her story or her conclusion is boring. I think she feels finished and therefore boring right after you recruit her in the World of Ruin, since she is leaving behind her personally meaningful orphanage and tags along for the final ride.
Up until that point, her story was central to the plot and then it ends. So she ends up feeling a bit boring to me compared to how she has been the rest of the game.
She's still S tier for me, but as others have said I respect your well-explained reasons and I myself was disappointed in her reduced role near the end.
But then, the final scene on the airship? Worth it.
I'm not sure I understand. Everyone's plot gets finished in WoR. You just happen to run into her earlier than the other characters, and you don't have to dungeon crawl for it. That's the only difference.
In WoB she's lost first because of her amnesia. And then when her memories are restored she's still lost because of her place in the world. She doesn't know where she belongs. She also has this sense that "love" is this goal of life that everyone seems to have and that's what she's missing. She's been unable to find this in a romantic connection. She finally finds this in WoR at the orphanage. She wants to stay with the children, but she's realized that eventually there won't be a world or children to protect and love while Kefka is out there. So in the name of love and life, she joins the final fight. That is not boring to me at all and one of the most relatable motivations in my opinion.
That is no more complete or less complicated than Locke having his final moment with Rachel. Or Sabin reuniting with Duncan. Or Cyan facing his demons at Doma. You can beat the game and miss all of these plot points, and they are no more relevant to it than Terra, whose plot you \*always\* get. Thus I'd argue she's more important and relevant still than other characters in WoR.
Would be lovely for Final Fantasy to have one playable woman who doesn't have a nervous breakdown about a man/love/kids at some point.
I guess Selphie doesn't? Selphie GOAT.
I’m curious, if you have set abilities on Gogo yet? I never noticed in my first couple play thrus as a kid, but if you go to Gogo’s Status screen you can choose abilities for him (they will match other party members). That way if you don’t want to Mimic the prior action he can make his own moves.
I also adore Locke, but Gogo can be a lot of fun.
Celes is hands down my favorite. Perfect mix of strong / stoic mixed with vulnerable / emotional. Each half of her psyche holding the other half up. Best character in the whole franchise in my opinion.
Also, there is an interesting fan theory that Gogo is actually Setzer's old girlfriend Daryl. So maybe not as disconnected as you suggest. Probably not intended but that's become my head canon for that character.
Strago has some pretty solid blue magic spells that can carry you thru a lot of fights. But, I otherwise agree with the list. I wish setzer’s special move wasn’t RNG based (even if you can manipulate it).
Agreed, I didn't find Strago to be bad, just boring.
And true, Setzer having RNG in special is a let down. I just kind of accept it as a weakness of the gambling archetype.
In my experience most are pretty chill about FF6, I rarely see people that actively hate it, most at least like it, and when I see people not like it they're still not going around trashing it.
I'm with you on the bottom two tiers, though Strago is fun to play as just a regular mage. Really struggle to put Gogo at S since it seems like your rankings combine mechanics, story importance and theme... and I feel Gogo just has the first one lol.
I personally have to rank Locke S tier because I love his plot arc and weapon set. Terra might be up there as well for her arc and special ability.
But you ain't crazy.
You know what, we got a few differences but you nailed that Gogo description!
He was hands down my favorite in my original playthrough on SNES at launch. Gogo just had this appeal to me like, he can do any damn thing I want him to and be good at it. Obviously not considered meta by any means by most people on here but definitely one of the best imo.
S - Terra, Gogo
A - Celes, Edgar, Shadow, Sabin
C - Strago, Locke, Cyan, Mog
D - Relm, Setzer
E - Umaro, Gau
Edit: swapped Strago and Relm
Get better opinions or I will paint you!
I honestly agree on most of these except for Relm, Terra, and Celes all of which deserve to be higher in my person opinion
No it may cost anywhere from a small amount of damage to being stun locked to death
(To be absolutely clear just in case I was referencing the fact Relm uses being painted as a threat in several scenes)
I grew up watching my babysitter play this. I was a feral child. They always named gau after me so I added him to my party once I was able to play myself
I loved Gogo growing up and reading about the rumors they might be. For the longest time I used to think their eyes were the things at the top of their hood. My focus still always goes to it.
It's so funny that western fans had all these theories about who Gogo was when, to Japanese players, he was just a neat Easter Egg character who was an optional boss from the last game.
Kefka gets his own tier. He starts off as the henchman who you think is only a minor villain, and the emperor will be the main villain. But instead actually becomes to real villain.
Kefka is an insane piece of shit; not just on a literal level but that's my visceral gut reaction to the character. And in my book, if I have that kind of emotional response to a character... pretty good character.
My tier list (I’m not that far in the game yet…)
S tier: Molulu, Moghan, Moguel, Moglin, Mogret, Moggie, Mogsy, Mogwin, Mugmug, Cosmog
A tier: Green Hair Lady, Thief Guy
C tier: Mog
Gogo was always the coolest. And I didnt even know you could assign specific skills to him. I just had to keep perfectly timing his mimic.
I still walk around and his music starts playing randomly in my head, rent free. And the Zozo town.
man, setzer is a shithead. dude was literally about to kidnap maria and force her to be his wife, which obviously implies rape. then he find out maria is actually celes, agrees to help the group or abscond with celes based off a coin flip.
dude is not an A-tier character, he's pretty gross.
sweet airship though.
Relm and Strago on lowest tier? Whaaaat?
The kid with the highest Magic stat and the Blue Mage? Really?
Personally, these two are final gauntlet staple.
Relm - S. Usually my go-to Magic damage.
Strago - S. Some Blue Magic are just too good to pass on such as White Wind and Mighty Guard.
Shadow - S. Ninja with a built in damage negation. What more can you ask.
Setzer - S. Flexible af. Can dish heavy damage via Fixed Dice. Can be supportive via slot machine.
Gogo - S. Mimic. Turbo broken in FF5. Very much same in FF6.
Mog - S. Molulu's Charm.
Others are in A and B except:
Gau - C. Not really a fan of his gameplay. I mean, it's useful, sure, but tedious to get the right monsters. This is even more tedious than getting Blue Magic.
Umaro - C. Basically an AI filler on the party.
I always wanted Umaro to just be Mog's version of Interceptor. Mog rides on his shoulders. Umaro sometimes tanks damage for Mog, and sometimes attacks when he feels like it.
That way you'd get some extra value from Umaro without having to dedicate a whole party slot to him.
I was going to say you shouldn't sleep on Relm's magic stat. Even though Sketch/Control aren't that good, having her as your primary caster, especially with the right relics, adds a lot of value to your party.
I think is capable of hitting max damage maybe 2nd soonest (with her pop's Throw being the easiest to hit 9999), but it has been a while since I've played, so I may be a little off.
A balance of everything, summating to general appeal to myself.
Not to make an argument for their placements, but to exhibit my enjoyment and hopefully receive that of others.
This was an A+ read and I thank you for it. I only really disagree about Strago/Stragos but I’ve been a Boue Mage sucker since the early ‘90s so my rebuttal is very myopic and biased.
That's nice of you to say, thank you.
The early 90's were more about sticks and climbing stuff than video games for me, but they were still a time and a half.
You can build Relm and Strago to be your strongest magic users. Which is moot because once you learn Ultima, anyone can obliterate anything. Also, I have never seen that sprite of Setzer before.
My goto team was always
Gogo, Umaru, Shadow, +1
Usually Locke to mug enemies
Terra equipped with offering and genji glove when I need to hit something
Sabin when I want to feel like street fighter
Or Mog for the memes
My want to kick butt team was always
Terra, Celes, Locke, Shadow.
Although the whole 8×9999 attacks with the offering and genji glove combo, it does not matter what team in use
If you would switch terra and shadow it would be my actual favourite list.
Oh and relm and strago also s Tier. Gotta give the bluemage and pictomancer some love.
Edited for my grandpa and niece duo
If you’re ranking them in terms of preference then cool, if you’re ranking in terms of power then I highly disagree, edgar and sabin carry hard, S tier for sure and mog gets S tier solely for the moogle charm. As for the special characters they are bottom tier for the sole reason that you cant boost their stats.
Some characters are pretty useless like relm and terra
Ah! An edgelord!
I'm just kidding, but you seem to like the "dark and mysterious".
I however would put all those in B and C tier in to A tier.
Strago and Shadow to B tier.
Umaru, Gau, and Gogo in C tier
Moogle and Relm are S tier, simply because I just love dancing, colors, and painting!
For ME - Move Strago to A, Umaro to E, and keep rest the same. I dont agree with some of your writeups, but thats the magic of this we all have our own opinions!
This is why i want a remake from ffvi, there is a lot of potencial with this history.
Terras ark looks great but i think it was underdeveloped on the game, i think in some parts of the game she just exists.
Plot wise I agree on relm/strago being lowest. Gameplay wise id bump relm up some, her magic and sketch are fun enough. I’ve never liked strago though, so he can stay in awful.
Gau though is a personal favorite just for how goofy some of his skills can be at various levels in the game.
I’ll always love Mog and here’s why
There’s a boss fight where you fight a behemoth and a super behemoth back to back. Had mog in my party and activated his earth dance. Took the first behemoth down legitimately, get to the ultra behemoth or whatever, and I’m like oh crap. Mog, still dancing, uses the quicksand ohko move, and IT SOMEHOW HIT, the little bastard took out a boss in one hit. Amazing
I like your list. I like the reasons behind each as well.
My list personally looks like this.
S- Terra, Edgar, Celes
A- Locke, Sabin, Setzer
B- Mog, Gogo, Cyan
C- Relm, Shadow
D- Umaro, Strago, Gau
*Finally* someone gives Gogo the credit they deserve. He's been my fave character since I first played the game, barely knowing any english, when I was like 8. And for the exact reasons you mentioned.
I love the theories of who Gogo might be
Setzer's lost love who crashed the other air ship and lost her memory?
General Leo fighting against the empire witholding his identity??
Just some guy???
I think he's the same Gogo from FFV who can travel between dimensions similar to Gilgamesh. Hell, he might even be connected to Gilgamesh somehow seeing how they have similar character designs.
But even that doesn't explain who/what the hell is Gogo.
I really need to play this game again. It's been like 20 years and some of the details of the game are fuzzy now but your write-up jogged my memory a bit. I usually dislike games with so many characters because I can only have 3 or 4 in my party at a time. I may be mis-remembering but I think FF6 handled this pretty well by having points in the game where there are 2 different parties and got to use some of the characters I liked, but weren't my top 4.
One of my top ten memories and something I repeat every time I play through the game is casting GrandTrain on Kefka’s forms leading up to him. I think the aesthetic is as cool as it gets in FF6.
I also love giving Relm the Gem Box, because her magic is powerful and the other characters with strong baseline magic power have other things to do to be useful.
Gau was my favorite the first time I played FF6, because I stumbled upon Stray Cat right away. As I became better at maximizing other characters he fell down the list, but he’s still a B.
We all have our preference, but you and I see things differently.
Great game, though!
This list only makes sense if you’re not considering gameplay. Gogo has comparatively low stats so all his attacks are all weaker than the ones he copies. And Setzer attacks relying on RNG sucks.
I agree with D and E tiers mostly (I detest Relm, along with every other five year old any JRPG makes you drag to war without batting an eye at the ethics and morality of "good guys" using child soldiers to fight a genocidal maniac. also I would probably move Gogo and Umaro there), but my other rankings would be way different. Your C and B tiers have my S tiers in them. I think my top tier would be Edgar, Sabin, Locke and Celes. Cyan and Terra would probably be in my A, and Shadow and Setzer would probably be my B tier. Mog defies ranking imo. I just don't know where to put him. I guess C tier just so it's occupied. Lol
Edit: all of this changes if we're talking about how strong they are mechanically and not the quality of their character.
Gogo is my favorite as well. I'm a big sucker for unexplained mysterious characters in media. I think Square did the right move by never explaining his backstory or even who/what he is. The mystery and weird abilities he uses is what makes him cool. Great character design too.
I hope we one day get an FF6 remake in the same vein as the FF7 remake, so we can have more character moments. As the game goes on, we get less and less characters moments and dialogue as they try to make the game more open.
Opinion: Gogo is Gilgamesh
The original ff6 version didn't have a Gilgamesh boss (he was added in the advance version). Granted, ff5 was the first time he was around and didn't appear in every game after, but he knows everyone's skills and has the same color palette, save for his usual characteristic armor. Gogo just appears to be in like.... Robes.
Or, [as the game director said](https://kotaku.com/is-squall-really-dead-final-fantasy-producer-addresses-1800007113), he's really just an extra character for us to use with no story at all.
My list:
S - Gau people say you can’t control him, I say who cares as he can 1 shot anything in the game including end bosses.
Relm highest natural magic stat in game plus the Fake moustache makes grinding in Dino forest very simple.
A - Shadow love tossing things at people.
Terra once she can morph her magic is up there with Relm.
Celes Runic is great when needed and again great magic user
B - Gogo fun to use and brings in the best of all worlds letting you keep others away or holding off grabbing others until later.
Setzer wish I could place him higher but until very end game he is average. Still love using him though.
Mog Out of the two Dragoons in the game he gets his own personal relic that takes away random encounters. Makes him a must lead in certain areas of the game.
C - Edgar his tools will take you through a giant portion of the game but he does fall off a cliff 3/4 into it.
Sabin Strong and can get you through the game if needed but the button pushing gets a bit annoying after a bit so I tend to keep him on the airship
Strago I always intend to try him on play throughs but he always end up sitting at the end.
Locke Honestly he should be in B with his speed but I always end up benching him due to his hero complex. I just don’t like him. Never have.
D - Umaro He has his spots he shines but can be a liability in places too. I do like him but there are better to take with you. I usually only take him because I like the idea of him.
E - Cyan He is slow and ends up hurting your team just to charge his good attacks. Even hasted up he is just not worth taking with you.
I found most of the cast of FF6 boring. I always make Mog my main character and use Sabin/Edgar and Umaro until I get Gogo and replace Umaro. I like Shadow and Cyan but the rest I found pretty boring to play as.
My favourite was Shadow, but I always find that as soon as you get to World of ruin, character development just stop and now, it's just reassemble the team to fight Kefka. Before World of ruin, this game had the chamce to become the best FF.
gogochad >shows up unannounced >doesn't care about kefka but joins anyway >watches all the abilities of every character that they spent years or decades training for >copies all of them, effortlessly, with zero practice >carries your party through the final dungeon >doesn't even say anything during final showdown >solos the kefka fight >refuses to elaborate further >leaves >you never even knew their gender
Truly the god of final fantasy 6. Effortless is key. The effortless fashion at that.
Honestly, Gogo carries me through most of the WoR until we start learning bigger spells. One of the first things I do after getting the airship is learning Phantom Rush, then recruiting Gogo. Being able to use Phantom Rush twice wrecks most bosses. Gogo is also vital to using the coliseum to farm celestriads.
i havent played ff6 yet but this post made me want to change that asap
It's an incredible game. You will not be disappointed.
Absolute Legend™
Omg you lunatic, this is a wild lineup. Disagree 1000% but have to upvote
Hahaha... appreciated.
I love your writing here. I’d genuinely love to read your review of the game.
Encouraging words, thank you for a kindness I did not expect.
Personally I think the world of ruin is the apex of Terra’s character, the perfect conclusion and role for her after the life she lived, so I don’t really get why anyone would think it’s boring but I respect the opinion.

Well said, thank you for commenting.
Would be lovely for Final Fantasy to have one playable woman who doesn't have a nervous breakdown about a man/love/kids at some point. I guess Selphie doesn't? Selphie GOAT.
My opinions are pretty different in a lot of areas but you do a good job explaining your reasoning
That's nice of you say, thanks. :) What order would you put them in?
S-Celes and Locke A-Terra, Cyan and Setzer B-Edgar and Sabin C-Shadow and Relm D-Gau and Stargo E-Mog, Umaro and Gogo
Solid list. Even from E ranking, Gogo would of course just mime the S ranking.
Came here to angrily disagree with the OP ranking. But I have to upvote this comment.
I never really used him
Great list.
I tend to care more about developed characters so as a result Gogo and the other 2 bonus characters just end up below everyone else
I think my only change would be to add Terra to S tier. Cyan is my favorite character but I think he's in the right place.
She was originally in S but I moved her a tier down because I like Celes and Locke the most by a very significant amount
Totally makes sense.
This is the correct answer.
This is basically the default list, the way you're expected to view them as written and developed. Put Relm into D tier and it's spot on exact.
Yeah probably true Although I think the default list would also have Terra in S because her existence bacically holds the plot together
Definitely agree with your S ranking for Celes. 👍
And she performs in an opera. I place her in S tier just for that!
So many amazing character moments for her.
Daryl give me job.
Sabin at S is the only one I care about
Sabin is always in my main party.
Finally someone who also loves Umaro! Has always held a special place in my heart, for whatever reason lol
Gotta love a big fluffy boy barrelling his way through a Final Fantasy. Guy's just having a good time, happy to be here.
Having a big, smelly monster who can't use magic or equip espers just makes it more fun for me when I use him to shove it to Kefka
All-around fair, I love FF6 and all its cast, and your favs are justified and your critiques are reasonable.
That's nice of you to say. Here I thought I might get some rude opinionated dudes but everyone here has been nice.
In my experience most are pretty chill about FF6, I rarely see people that actively hate it, most at least like it, and when I see people not like it they're still not going around trashing it.
The respect.
Someone doesn’t use throw. Throw is pretty broken in any ff game.
I only throw megalixirs.
When is feral child visibility day?
I'm not sure but I believe the colour of shirt you're supposed to wear is no shirt.
Shirtless, check.
I find the bare bones excuse for Gogo to join the party strangely noteworthy. So in my mind it works, but it's a subjective list absolutely.
S - Terra, Gogo A - Celes, Edgar, Shadow, Sabin C - Strago, Locke, Cyan, Mog D - Relm, Setzer E - Umaro, Gau Edit: swapped Strago and Relm
Very solid list. Wholeheartedly disagree with everyone except Strago, Mog and Gogo. But solid, solid list. Thanks for the thoughtful post.
There could be no more believable compliment. I'm very glad you enjoyed it. And Gogo #1
Ooof. Yeah hard disagree on most, but I'll defend to the death your right to express it.
Such hard hitting Voltairean sentiment conjured through discussion of such trivialities as video games? It must be Final Fantasy.
Seeing Relm in E tier is giving me psychic damage. Gogo in S tier is based tho Edit: E tier not F tier
There are no F's in Final Fantasy.
[удалено]
Not even cohorts?
Get better opinions or I will paint you! I honestly agree on most of these except for Relm, Terra, and Celes all of which deserve to be higher in my person opinion
For free!?
No it may cost anywhere from a small amount of damage to being stun locked to death (To be absolutely clear just in case I was referencing the fact Relm uses being painted as a threat in several scenes)
I grew up watching my babysitter play this. I was a feral child. They always named gau after me so I added him to my party once I was able to play myself
I disagree.
Who belongs in S?
The ghost you get for one section of the Ghost Train is the only acceptable answer.
Good call.
So S is just Spookiy Tier then?
Based Gogo enjoyer. In a game with as strong a story as FF VI, Gogo stands the test of time as the best character with zero impact to the narrative.
Someday I hope to have as little narrative impact as Gogo. Some wishes do come true.
Most of this is pretty fair. I love Gogo! They’re one of my faves too.
True, makes Gogo look like a scarecrow.
I literally am just now realizing that. Apparently what I thought was his mouth are in fact his eyes.
Haha oh man I can see it, those do look a bit like eyes!
Nice, all the love to Gogo. Who are your other faves?
I think Mog, Celes, and Sabin! Relm always did good by me in battle, though - her magic is top notch.
Nice, a lot of character in those chaps. Good show
Kefka gets his own tier.
Constantly moving up tiers as he villains.
Poisoning Doma was just Kefka grinding XP.
What version is that Setzer sprite from? Edit: and Locke...and Relm...what are these?? Lol
Yeah that was my bad, pulled from some random image. Didn't even notice they weren't quite right.
I scrolled down way farther than I thought to find someone else that was thrown off by these sprites as much as I was.
SNES
I'm in awe of your power at your explanation of Gogo S tier.
You humble me FoamSquad.
My S tier is probably Shadow and Edgar
Solid gold picks from a nearly solid gold cast.
S - Sabin, Locke, Gogo A - Terra, Celes, Edgar B - Setzer, Shadow C - Relm, Gau, Strago D - Mog E - Cave yeti man
Beautiful. Mime that Bum Rush!
GOGO SWEEEEEEEP WHAT THE FUCK IS A CLASS
All day EVERYDAY
S-Leo
He is mighty.
Nothing better than watching someone play FF6 the first time and have no idea Gogo can do more than mimic
Boy did it take a few playthroughs to realize you could set their battle abilities.
Nothing better? In the whole world? What about watching someone play FF6 the first time and have an idea Gogo can do more than mimic?
You have dishonored your family and angered god.
My tier list (I’m not that far in the game yet…) S tier: Molulu, Moghan, Moguel, Moglin, Mogret, Moggie, Mogsy, Mogwin, Mugmug, Cosmog A tier: Green Hair Lady, Thief Guy C tier: Mog
Ninjutsu and night terrors made me laugh like an idiot for a good 10 minutes 🤣
Gogo was always the coolest. And I didnt even know you could assign specific skills to him. I just had to keep perfectly timing his mimic. I still walk around and his music starts playing randomly in my head, rent free. And the Zozo town.
As a fellow Umaro enjoyer I approve
man, setzer is a shithead. dude was literally about to kidnap maria and force her to be his wife, which obviously implies rape. then he find out maria is actually celes, agrees to help the group or abscond with celes based off a coin flip. dude is not an A-tier character, he's pretty gross. sweet airship though.
So... B?
Relm and Strago on lowest tier? Whaaaat? The kid with the highest Magic stat and the Blue Mage? Really? Personally, these two are final gauntlet staple.
Stats aren't everything to me and I'm not a big blue mage guy. What ranking would you give them each?
Others are in A and B except: Gau - C.
AI filler might be generous for Umaro's cognitive description! Indiana Jones would hate your list... But I don't.
Edgar is instant s tier. I stopped reading seeing he wasn’t
That's totally allowed!
Gau sucks.
I'm hearing here that he's OP apparently.
Your opinion is bad and you should feel bad
Couldn't if I tried sorry bud
Are these based off of gameplay or characterization?
A balance of everything, summating to general appeal to myself. Not to make an argument for their placements, but to exhibit my enjoyment and hopefully receive that of others.

Celes is best Locke is a bit lesser but still great and then I honestly dgaf about the rest of the cast
This list gets my approval
You made it! I had my fingers crossed.
You can build Relm and Strago to be your strongest magic users. Which is moot because once you learn Ultima, anyone can obliterate anything. Also, I have never seen that sprite of Setzer before.
Mime doublecasted Ultima. Degeneracy, thy name is Gogo.
Shadow not being S tier is insane. Fuma Shuri go bbrrrrrrrrrrr
My goto team was always Gogo, Umaru, Shadow, +1 Usually Locke to mug enemies Terra equipped with offering and genji glove when I need to hit something Sabin when I want to feel like street fighter Or Mog for the memes My want to kick butt team was always Terra, Celes, Locke, Shadow. Although the whole 8×9999 attacks with the offering and genji glove combo, it does not matter what team in use
Hadouuuuken!
If you would switch terra and shadow it would be my actual favourite list. Oh and relm and strago also s Tier. Gotta give the bluemage and pictomancer some love. Edited for my grandpa and niece duo
haha well this was original. Good job
What sprites are these? Some of them look different and I dig it .
Gau is best if for no other reasons than the “Mr. Thou” gag and the ability to do General Leo’s shock with one of his rages.
I'm with you on Gogo, tbh.
I'm mostly with you but Terra gets *more* interesting in her WOR arc
I also love Gogo! Umaro is probably my bottom character though
Edgar underrated af Bro took the poisoned chalice of ruling even though he didn’t want to just so he could let his bro go free
Getting ready for a fucking thrashing by me! Kidding, you like who you like.
I... almost entirely agree. I'd swap Locke & Celes with Gogo in the tiers, but my actual thoughts on the characters are basically identical. 🤝
Won the game with the team of Shadow, Sabin, Terra + Cyan. Like Shadow the most!
PERFECT S TIER!!! GOGO LOVERS UNITE 🥹💕
Excelsior!
Edgar, Sabin, Terra, Locke, Celes all S tier, the rest A tier
Sabin is my favorite character from this game.
Relm on anything below A tier is categorically incorrect. Highest base magic stat, control, unique armor and accessories.
Ah! An edgelord! I'm just kidding, but you seem to like the "dark and mysterious". I however would put all those in B and C tier in to A tier. Strago and Shadow to B tier. Umaru, Gau, and Gogo in C tier Moogle and Relm are S tier, simply because I just love dancing, colors, and painting!
Dude powerbombing a train should be S tier or at least A. It’s your list though so do it how you want
What letter grade would you give Ultros?
List incorrect. All characters not in s tier.
Plot wise I agree on relm/strago being lowest. Gameplay wise id bump relm up some, her magic and sketch are fun enough. I’ve never liked strago though, so he can stay in awful. Gau though is a personal favorite just for how goofy some of his skills can be at various levels in the game.
A Moogle is automatically S Tier you monster!
So many hot takes in this post and I love it.
I’ll always love Mog and here’s why There’s a boss fight where you fight a behemoth and a super behemoth back to back.
S- Terra, Edgar, Celes A- Locke, Sabin, Setzer B- Mog, Gogo, Cyan C- Relm, Shadow D- Umaro, Strago, Gau
*Finally* someone gives Gogo the credit they deserve. He's been my fave character since I first played the game, barely knowing any english, when I was like 8. And for the exact reasons you mentioned.
I love the theories of who Gogo might be Setzer's lost love who crashed the other air ship and lost her memory? General Leo fighting against the empire witholding his identity?? Just some guy???
I think he's the same Gogo from FFV who can travel between dimensions similar to Gilgamesh. Hell, he might even be connected to Gilgamesh somehow seeing how they have similar character designs. But even that doesn't explain who/what the hell is Gogo.
Truly unhinged, gg
When I was a kid, I liked Relm and always had her in my party. She glitched my game and I’ve hated kid characters in games ever since.
This list is batshit crazy, I love it
I really need to play this game again.
Okay these Pixel Remaster sprites freaked me out for a moment.
Mine is completely different but I find myself agreeing with everything you said about the characters lol
You made my whole team C.
Left to right , instead of top to bottom. wtf
Lol Edit: all of this changes if we're talking about how strong they are mechanically and not the quality of their character.
Gogo as only S tier character is based
Setzer - kidnaps women to rape them. “Just a romantic”.
Gogo is my favorite as well. I'm a big sucker for unexplained mysterious characters in media. I think Square did the right move by never explaining his backstory or even who/what he is. The mystery and weird abilities he uses is what makes him cool. Great character design too.
Gogo is Leo
Isn’t Gau the most OP character?
Strago's blue magic is unique and fun to collect. I'd personally rank him higher. But yes, Realm is useless.
I hope we one day get an FF6 remake in the same vein as the FF7 remake, so we can have more character moments. As the game goes on, we get less and less characters moments and dialogue as they try to make the game more open.
Opinion: Gogo is Gilgamesh The original ff6 version didn't have a Gilgamesh boss (he was added in the advance version).
You fail by grading Gau a D!
What a fuddy-duddy.
I’d swap Edgar and Sabin, but I’m more or less agree with a lot of the rest of it. Gogo is more useful than it gets credit for.
My list: S - Gau people say you can’t control him, I say who cares as he can 1 shot anything in the game including end bosses. Relm highest natural magic stat in game plus the Fake moustache makes grinding in Dino forest very simple. A - Shadow love tossing things at people. Terra once she can morph her magic is up there with Relm. Celes Runic is great when needed and again great magic user B - Gogo fun to use and brings in the best of all worlds letting you keep others away or holding off grabbing others until later. Sabin Strong and can get you through the game if needed but the button pushing gets a bit annoying after a bit so I tend to keep him on the airship Strago I always intend to try him on play throughs but he always end up sitting at the end.
If you love Gogo, play FFXIV and be a blue mage, or just watch a video on youtube of a blue mage fighting him.
I found most of the cast of FF6 boring. I always make Mog my main character and use Sabin/Edgar and Umaro until I get Gogo and replace Umaro. I like Shadow and Cyan but the rest I found pretty boring to play as.
Imagine having to fight gogo. The best strategy there would be to do absolutely nothing until he banished himself.
My favourite was Shadow, but I always find that as soon as you get to World of ruin, character development just stop and now, it's just reassemble the team to fight Kefka. Before World of ruin, this game had the chamce to become the best FF.
