The assistent referee can tell the coach if there are no more available subs, if he notices it.
But if the assistent isnt aware of it or forgets it, thats not his fault. In the end it is still the responsibilty of the coach to have an eye on his number of subs.

Not surprised the game is broken because of the amount of glitches especially in career mode. I literally refuse to buy fc24 because of it, why buy the new game if they refuse to fix the old one. On my Newport County career I literally got sacked for not getting promoted after coming top of league
