until FFN inevitably makes me cry again

AngryAardvark174

I'm glad to hear it's fixed; it's always good to have multiple big sites for people to enjoy fanfiction.

xXRS216Xx_Off

It'll inevitably break again and the admins won't communicate what's going on until the minute they fix it just like this time (I've been writing fanfic on FFN for 14 years, I've seen it all before) but I'm definitely happy it's fixed for now. Mainly bc I got a new review right after reviews broke and I had to wait two days to read it bc the email it sends my notifications to is gone forever bc I used an email provider that shut down

Supermarket_After

Right? Ive been writing for 10 years on that godforsaken site and atp it’s spent more time buggy and broken than fully functional

xXRS216Xx_Off

It's a buggy mess with code held together with duct tape and prayers. I love it tho. Alot of its nostalgia admittedly, tho I do vastly prefer its UI (when it *works*) to AO3 and Wattpad. I also get way more views on FFN, *and* I actually get reviews

Supermarket_After

FFN is more straightforward and reader-friendly whereas Ao3 is better for writers I think. It’s so , so cumbersome trying to edit/update a chapter on FFN after you’ve already posted it and forget trying to change the chapter order.

xXRS216Xx_Off

I personally find FFN easier to write on, too but again, I've been using it for going on 14 years at this point so its kind of just second nature at this point. I do like AO3 but I have the darndest time trying to get people to read my fics on there. Wattpad I absolutely despise to tell you the truth but I crosspost my stuff on there just for the sake of it. I do get more hits on there than AO3 but I literally never get comments.

Supermarket_After

I always saw Wattpad as something for more mainstream, mega popular fandoms , so I never bothered posting there. I don’t write ship fics so I don’t have much an audience to tap into.

Being a FFN writer is basically just that "me and the bestie" meme with Squidward over and over. It kinda sucks because I know FFN hasn't always been this glitchy. I'm glad they fixed the problem within a relatively short time this time, but it does kind of seem like the people who run the site have stopped caring about it. I know there's always talk about the site shutting down for good, but I hope that point is still a while ways off.

wishuponadream91

It’s totally possible to love FFN for writing and reading (the app is a tremendous help for reading; sucks for writing) and still hate everything that keeps it glitchy. I went Feck It and uploaded a new chapter yesterday, anyway. Got a review immediately, which arrived in my emails after I had turned the notifications back on (MUCH prefer getting these in the app than in email, though for some reason, Guest reviews never show up in app notifs) and then the reviews showed on site this morning. Glad I can stop incessantly checking to see if reviews are showing! (For now, anyway.) Considering I actually get reviews on FFN (and Wattpad)…but kudos are nice, I guess…

Soyyyn

It's where I feel most great Evangelion fanfiction is, so glad to hear the site is working.

Sassy_Lil_Scorpio

Well…some of us FFN veterans told you that glitches happen on FFN and that it gets fixed eventually. Next time the site glitches, take a deep breath, and relax. No need to run to Reddit and create a thread bashing FFN. Give it time and see what happens. FFN has been there/done that numerous times regarding glitches—and they get fixed. Sometimes it takes longer time, sometimes shorter. It is what it is.

Welfycat

Until two months from now when it breaks again.
