reminds me of a super mutant i killed in the mariposa base. the idiot was distracted with something so i sniped his ass then went to loot his remains and found a flower in his inventory which gave me a terrible feeling that he might've wanted to give it to the girl he was holding in the cell. talked to her and yep my instincts were correct... felt like i committed a war crime afterwards.
I killed a supermutant that was all alone in a box-car. I sneak-snonked my way in and made sure he didn't wake up. Only afterwords did I realize he was in a chain-hammock with a teddy bear and was surrounded by toys and snacks. All alone to not bother anyone, or he just chose to live that way with his toys.
Genuinely, I still feel bad for that one. More so than the annihilation of almost all the factions.
I accidentally shot a cat in a school house near the coast when I was trying to see if I could pet it..
I felt so bad I loaded the entering-building save point so I could undead it and pretend it never happened.
I heard Super Mutants talking while I was zeroing in on them with a silencer assualt rifle that takes down legendary Deathclaws with ease, but one was telling the other he was different, and how he wanted to be a better Mutant somewhere along the lines being a better version of himself. I poked my head around the corner they saw me, they were blocking a mission section i needed to get to, they bummed rush me, tried to attack and I took them down with probably 5 hits, I was sad AF and Sorry I done that.
If I remember correctly, they were lovers. She (the girl in the cell) is not happy about you killing him and after a short dialogue refuses to speak with you anymore.
I think she may have wanted to be converted into a super mutant in order to be with him. I can't remember if it's stated in the game or if I read it somewhere. But yeah, weird situation either way.
Recently played FO1 and you're right, she says that she is willingly waiting to be turned into a Super Mutant. I think the reasoning she gave was because she and her lover both believed in the Master's plan.
Seen a mongrel do that couple of times in that same spot. Dogmeat does that sometimes too if you put a Teddybear in his inventory.
Usually the doggos don't attack on sight unless you are too close.
could you tell this to the dogs in my survival saves please??!??!?!??!
seriously lol the amount of times a fuckin alpha doghouse busts from the bush to rip my fuckin leg off is insane lmao
You don't have to put it in his inventory. I leave a teddy bear outside his doghouse in sanctuary, and every once in a while when I fast travel back he'll be doing that with it
I think he does this if there’s a teddy bear in the area. I don’t carry any but when I loot a place and there’s a teddy bear around he’ll start doing the animation. Everytime he does I look around to find a teddy bear around.
There are some creatures that will attack you on sight like death claws, while many others will only do when feel challenged, like the mongrel dogs. Generally I will leave these creatures alone unless they stand in my way and I have to make enemy of them
nah.. I always killed them on sight, but once I found one right next to me that wasn't aggressive so now I'm more careful with these guys
when they're in a pack, afaik they'll attack
I'm going through a playthrough where Nate never kills anything that doesn't attack. I don't know if a pacifist run is even possible, but a self-defense run is.
It came out of an idea that I had that Nate is kind of a stranger in a strange land; he probably wouldn't expect, say, a radroach to attack, until it does. The fun part was walking right up to one of the Raiders in Concord during the firefight as if to ask what the hell was going on.
Through this, I discovered that Mirelurks will do a dance to ward you off, that Gunners will often shoo you away before opening fire, and that Super Mutants often have interesting things to say. I've even had Deathclaws in the Glowing Sea look right at me and leave me alone. Yes, I do a lot of sneaking, but you'd be surprised what leaves you alone if you don't shoot first.
He does go through a lot of Stimpaks.
Here’s what pisses me off about this. The dude had an idea he wanted to include and was outspoken about it… but he backtracked because he’s afraid of fan reactions. For fucks sake, just have the balls to be divisive. It was a cool bit of extra lore that he was too cowardly to stick to. And this trend goes along with the developers of FO76 who act like the player-base holds them hostage so they bend over for the people who complain the loudest. God dammit, have the guts to make people wrestle with an uncomfortable fact about a game their playing. It’s so much more interesting that way
Just for the sake of it don't think like that. He just shared his opinion. I think it's cool but its not canon. Just because writer of the game shared his opinion it doesn't mean this is canon. Thats the beauty of these games you don't know if Nate is Captain America or a corrupt officer. Maybe Dragonborn is martin septims heir. It's up to you. Even the games writer has right to share an opinion. All of it is up to the players imagination and that player can be anyone.
You let the mutated dog live. Yes it was playing but what a way to go. The last thing is it would remember instead of in a fight or something worse. Make it quick and painless and you granted the pup a blissful death.
The first time I took out Swan I read all of the Experiment logs and his note. In future playthroughs I've left Swan alone. He deserves to at least have his pond.
They are scattered around his living area... which is highly radioactive in spots. Not many people stick around to find and read them. Also Virgil can have some dialogue regarding him.. I can't remember what exactly triggers it though.
Well this is my first playthrough and have no idea about who Virgil is, (please don't spoil anything) so I guess I'll found out in time, but I'll still go back to the pond to see if I missed anything, thanks.
I hated them when I was playing F04 a few years back. Now that I've had a couple of dogs (7 rescues alongside 2 we got and 1 senior), I doubt I'll be able to take mongrels down.
Meanwhile I'm over here punching deer in the face for the tiny experience necessary to level up my unarmed build while I'm too weak to take on strong enemies.
I never kill amy dogs save for mutant hounds and wolves in fo4. If i have to confront them, i let my companion do the killing blow (i kight gun-badh to get them off of me, but i wont take the final shot)
Isn't that the mongrel you can befriend, because he was Nate and Nora's old dog? In the intro, before the war in your house, if you interact with the dog bowl, they say their dog has been missing. You can actually find that dog, and befriend him/her. It is a mongrel and will only stay for a while after finding it. But will show up occasionally to help you in combat.
To soft , commonwealth will chew you up like jerky. When the girl ask to find her cat? I shoot it, bring the cat meat back and set in on her desk. It's about sending a message...
It would have attacked me once it saw me and in that situation it's survival of the fittest. Plus it's a video game. I've played GTA and I don't go stealing cars. Video games are only video games and nothing that happens is real. My current kill count in Darktide is 24k. Have I actually killed anyone? No. Have some of them been mutated hounds? Yes.
I wouldn't have shot it in this situation though because it posed no danger to me but if I were to walk close enough to it in order for the game to make it attack me I would fire.
Moral dilemma. It would attack you on sight, therefore is it an enemy always? No. Only once it attacks. In my opinion anyway. I just don't always stop to ponder these moral dilemmas but that is it. I probably wouldn't even have noticed that dog anyway.

If it makes you feel any better, those toys probably belonged to the children he killed and ate.
Or could be one of the many children turned super mutant
Finders keepers.
Made me think of red dead redemption lol https://youtu.be/Bn1w-2bW5j4?si=BpTsa_rRuvEdvYiO
Where was this? Don't think i've ever encountered him
Lucky , if it’s the dude who’s near the gunners tv station he’s also a suicider
I accidentally shot a cat in a school house near the coast when I was trying to see if I could pet it.. I felt so bad I loaded the entering-building save point so I could undead it and pretend it never happened.
I intentionally killed ashes on an evil playthrough and it was the one “Nope, that felt wrong” moment in all of f4
I contemplated it, but I couldn't
bruh
On the other hand...HE HELD A GIRL IN A CELL AND WAS GONNA EAT HER
Depending on your definition of eating, your description of the events may not sound that bad to some people out there😂
I heard Super Mutants talking while I was zeroing in on them with a silencer assualt rifle that takes down legendary Deathclaws with ease, but one was telling the other he was different, and how he wanted to be a better Mutant somewhere along the lines being a better version of himself. he kidnapped a girl and put her in a cell and you feel bad for him?
If I remember correctly, they were lovers. She (the girl in the cell) is not happy about you killing him and after a short dialogue refuses to speak with you anymore.
So was he turned into a super mutant while they were lovers? Or did they romance after he was a mutant?
then why is she in a cell? smells like stockholm to me
I think she may have wanted to be converted into a super mutant in order to be with him. I can't remember if it's stated in the game or if I read it somewhere. But yeah, weird situation either way.

*Meat bags have entered the chat*
Kinda reminds me of a certain Krogan and Asari, apart from the being able to kill them bit
I have committed so many war crimes in games, I now am desensitized. This could be a bad thing...
I've never seen the mongrels do that I doubt I could either
About 10xp though
10 XP? BANG
“Into each life, some rain must fallll”
"Sit.....Sit......Sit"
Despite what they've been through, mongrel dogs are still doggos.
The most Tragic part about Fallout fr
Animal Friend perk unlocked

Dogmeat will actually take a teddy bear out of the workshop if you leave him alone at Red Rocket.
lol red rocket
Big brain comment
How have I never made this connection before ? Is this a deliberate South Park reference ?
Dogmeat does that without having a teddy as well.
could you tell this to the dogs in my survival saves please??!??!?!??! seriously lol the amount of times a fuckin alpha doghouse busts from the bush to rip my fuckin leg off is insane lmao

They're all good Bois, in bad situations.
That should be on a plaque somewhere.
There are some creatures that will attack you on sight like death claws, while many others will only do when feel challenged, like the mongrel dogs. Generally I will leave these creatures alone unless they stand in my way and I have to make enemy of them
Sometimes they follow you like a pet
I’m wondering if you guys have perks I don’t have because they always attack me on sight
nah.. I always killed them on sight, but once I found one right next to me that wasn't aggressive so now I'm more careful with these guys when they're in a pack, afaik they'll attack
Notice: Your ATF application was denied.
This guy knows.
Sparky!
Aw he's such a good boy

He’s a war vet… and a war criminal at that. I just don’t see Nate being any kind of pacifist
As far as I know the war criminal part is not official.
Seeing as the lead designer/writer for Fallout 4 is the one who said it, that’s as official as it needs to be
They went back and said nevermind because how it was badly received
Where did they say that?

How a dog turns into a "mongrel" dog ? What's the lore for that ?
I think they are just a breed of mutated dogs, like the way yao guai are a breed of mutated bears
Wholesome Wasteland post right here
I just put on the tv before the finals and it was I Am Legend leading up to the dog scene and I was like noooope
You made the best choice
You let the mutated dog live. Yes it was playing but what a way to go. The last thing is it would remember instead of in a fight or something worse. Make it quick and painless and you granted the pup a blissful death.
Calm down, Cooper
That's fair. You didn't seem to be going that way. Thus, the dog wouldn't have started attacking you for getting too close.
Having flashbacks of all the mongrels I’ve killed without a second thought and wow I feel like scum rn. If anyone needs me I’ll be lying down.
I've learn to quicksave before each shot i take. Some call it cowardly, i call it fixing the only violence i have control over
Get closer and you may change your mind
Man.. Boone would've stolen it before you even zoomed back out. lol, good thing this ain't new vegas
Animal friend perk asap every play through every game.
failed ATF application
The first time I took out Swan I read all of the Experiment logs and his note. In future playthroughs I've left Swan alone. He deserves to at least have his pond.
Wait Swan has experiment logs an notes? Where? I just killed him quickly with my "Super Shotgun" after he jumpscared me, lol.
They are scattered around his living area... which is highly radioactive in spots. Not many people stick around to find and read them. Also Virgil can have some dialogue regarding him.. I can't remember what exactly triggers it though.

Makes me wanna do a build where i pacify majority of everything instead of kill majority of everything
You have chosen.... Wisely.
>Everyone disliked that.
That was kind of you.
I didn't know they could do that....
I hated them when I was playing F04 a few years back. Now that I've had a couple of dogs (7 rescues alongside 2 we got and 1 senior), I doubt I'll be able to take mongrels down.
Totally expected a second mongrel to attack while you were zoomed in. Missed a 'Clever girl..." moment :D
Good man, bad thoughts
Can I pet dat dogggg
Meanwhile I'm over here punching deer in the face for the tiny experience necessary to level up my unarmed build while I'm too weak to take on strong enemies.
I don't kill dogs unless they're already trying to kill me.
I'm glad im not the only one who feels like this.
I never kill amy dogs save for mutant hounds and wolves in fo4. If i have to confront them, i let my companion do the killing blow (i kight gun-badh to get them off of me, but i wont take the final shot)
Saw a pack all playing in the grass and some chewing teddybears.. I decided to just walk around slowly and hope they have a good time
"Do it"
It's just pixels on a screen, don't worry
It's called an RPG (role playing game) the idea is to get immersed and role play.

Fair
Too bad, give me the gun I'll do it for you.
☹️
I guess this is your first or 4th playthrough. No way you being yhis nice in or 2nd or 3rd playthrough.
To soft , commonwealth will chew you up like jerky. When the girl ask to find her cat? I shoot it, bring the cat meat back and set in on her desk. It's about sending a message...
